Thank you to Lotkey for providing me the opportunity to try this lovely instrument, the 12-inch 13-note steel tongue drum. I've never played a steel tongue drum and in this video, I'll show you what the item comes with as well as a few different ways to play it which produce slightly different sounds.

I just got one for my son, his wife snd 2 yr old daughter, as they have pretty much everything they need. I think they’ll find it soothing and that it will get much use over the years. I also got a 3” one for the tot! 😀
I'm considering this for my own relaxation time. I love the sound and I understand why they are so popular! Thanks for reviewing this one. It's precisely the one I am most interested in for size and price.

I got a smaller steel drum not too long ago, and I got the larger one, the size you have in your video, today. It's great that you can take out the plug to get a more resonant sound. I find that espeically if I do that with the smaller drum, I get a very metallic sound, which has its own charm and muscial uses! Thanks for pointing that out! My larger drum has glow in the dark numbers, and they really do glow strongly. I love that, as it means I can play it in the dark, literally. That'll be so meditative!

One thing no vidio had mentioned is always position the drum with same note pointing towards you so your memory can get use to notes on the drum
Oh, cool, your tongue drum looks almost identical to mine, even down to the shape of the tongues, although mine has more of a hexagonal shape to the center tongue and is purple and more matte finish. I'm really loving the resonance from the mallets the best, but the understated technique you can get from just using fingers and advanced muting techniques can be impressive in its own right.

Oh yeah yeah! I have one of these and I love it!
I use my mallets and I also have a pickup I can clip to it and run it through an amplifier and add reverb and echo and fun stuff.
Had a lot of fun making up my own little "meditation" pieces. (There's actually a play list of the stuff I made up. Basically recorded stuff I thought sounded cool before I forgot what it was I did that sounded cool... LOL)

I've seen those at drum circles; they're fun :) So if' it has 13 notes, then does it have the accidentals too?
It's all in the key of C, but includes the B, A, and G going below as well as the D and E above.

I think they found me through my channel here. They contacted me through email, but my email thought it was spam so I didn't see it until a few days later. After we initially connected I communicated with their rep through Facebook.
