A3 / Late Afternoon Drifting (EATEOT Piano Solo Arr.

- A short and cordial tune, Late Afternoon Drifting belongs in its early position in Everywhere at the End of Time as the third track. I recorded this on vacation, and the nature of EATEOT fits perfectly with the haphazard setup I cobbled together. (See: • Post ) With only access to a synth action five octave keyboard, I focused the visuals on the view from the Swedish attic my setup was in and masked the single-dynamic output of the keyboard with a felt piano sound. The result is an intimate feel that suits the song and series perfectly.
As always with The Caretaker works, I played an arrangement by @FikretX. To fit the song within the five octaves of my keyboard, I had to employ a few tricks. The piece is in F#, but to have room for the lowest bass notes in the verse I played in G and lowered the tuning to bring the sound into F# range (detuning fits the EATEOT vibe as well). No key choice could reconcile how much lower than the rest of the piece the ending goes, however, so I played the final low chords an octave up and lowered then back down digitally.

Amazing! the way you adapted the work to your circumstances proves so much about your talent
and your environment in the video goes beautifully with the music
Too kind!
We need sheet music!
Fikret wrote the arrangement I'm playing - the sheets I used are in the description of his video: th-cam.com/video/p8ocuy-tE8o/w-d-xo.html
@@boredPianoAdv thanks!
holy shit this sounds beautiful
Was a joy to play
Lovin' it! That's one of my favorites
We're on the same page there 💪
What beautifully relaxed sounds. Definitely had that 'drifting mood' and I loved all those jazzy chord sounds too.
It was wonderful music to play!
this got recommended to me randomly few hours ago, im not complaining. good job
TH-cam algorithm train weeeee
Very beautiful performance ❤❤❤
I enjoyed 😊
Also I like the view outside the window ❤
@@shinspianosalonds9764 Thanks! Sweden is beautiful
Thank you for covering it! I've had this on loop in the background writing some poetry, and it just feels so whimsical compared to the original. I also got good news btw, I won two big poetry competitions (Foyle Young Poets of the Year Award & Tower Poetry) in this past year when I recommended you to cover this song! Crazy how time flies. Music like this, really make me feel and picture images in my head so strong that I got to write down my thoughts - poetry!
Sounds like you found your calling! Super inspiring what you've accomplished, and it's wonderful to see how we've both progressed in our own ways since your request last year. So glad you still enjoy the song and now my cover satisfying!
G major at 415 Hz interesting but I use f# major at A= 446 hz but still good
Ah, so that's the original tuning? I wasn't trying to match it, but that's a good idea for future EATEOT/AEBBTW videos. Here i needed to transpose twice (-1 semitone to get from G major to the original F#, and -12 semitones/ an octave to reach the low notes at the end). I decided it'd be easier to use tuning for the first transposition, and picked something random in the F# vicinity
(and I would have originally done it in F# minor if my keyboard had more space)
My only complaint is that its not long enough!
Gotta phone up @FikretX (who arranged this) and demand he write more variations haha
Thanks!
I loved this very much! Great job!
Thank you! Goes to show you don't need 88 keys for everything haha
As for something with 88 keys, I'm thinking you might enjoy the latest AEBBTW video I made - though it's definitely more grandiose than reading lol
@@boredPianoAdv I’ll check it out! It sounds interesting.
Cool song!!!!
It is! Been nice to follow your senior recital videos by the way
I've been loving that "felt piano" sound. Is that a plugin? I heard it on @bethanywakim 's channel - she's a lovely contemporary composer with such original modern sounds at the piano!
So a felt piano is achieved by putting a layer of felt between the hammers and the strings; you can do that on most acoustic pianos. There are indeed plugins which capture this effect, and I'm using one of them - the same one I use for my normal videos, actually; the felt version is just another preset on the main piano model
P.S. You look familiar! :)
@@boredPianoAdv Oh that is super cool. Thanks for the added info on how you achieve that on your keyboard! AND by the way it's amazing what you accomplish in 5 octaves - truly! I love the calming sound of it.
@@boredPianoAdv Haha. Indeed! I am starting a little experiment with some of the instrumental-only pieces on a separate channel! 'tis just me! Hope your year is wrapping up well!
@@MotifMusicStudios Same to you! That's a good idea for a second channel and I'll be keeping an eye on it
