    I'm glad you like this video. These were fun to make. Visit my original music channel where I perform some of my songs. It is also nostalgic in a sense since I grew up in the 60s and 70s. th-cam.com/video/ixga8L_LUEE/w-d-xo.html

      Thanks John. Me too. I'm 70 and I remember this commercial like it was yesterday. Everyone smoked then. Like John Lennon sang, ..."And curse sir Walter Raleigh, he was such a stupid get!. GBY. Jim.

      I did. I've been pronouncing it "Pell Mell" all my life. I'm 71 and I grew up on these commercials. When I was a kid I never heard anyone say, "Paul Maul". I didn't hear that until two generations later. I think with the absence of TV and radio commercials people just started pronouncing it the way it looks.
      There's also the fact that both words have other definitions. "Pall" generally means a somber mood but specifically means a coffin drape. Then there's "mall" as in shopping mall. Those are always pronounced "paul" and "maul", respectively.
      People keep correcting me when I say "Pell Mell", but I say, "Nope, that's the original pronunciation."

    • @iixnullxii1
      @iixnullxii1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Anyone born around and after the time cigarette commercials were banned probably pronounce it "Paul Maul," myself included. We were never exposed to the manufacture's pronunciation .

    "And they are MILD." Stan Freberg borrowed that phrase for the end of the "Tiny Tim Chestnuts" segment of "Green Chri$tmas$." Memory from childhood. I remember the "over, under" etc. jingle too.

      I've seen it many times, just keep it that way try not to cut back too much and if you increase I wouldn't go over 4 packs a day it may get to expensive, but IDK money may be no object to you.

    I would never have guessed it was pronounced "pail male" I always said "pawl mawl" like it is spelled.
    Of course, people, including their own dealers, routinely mispronounced Isuzu even though it is pronounced exactly like it is spelled "ee soo zoo"

    .... Aunt Jeanie smoked Pall Malls, the red unfiltered things. I was 11-ish and trying that stuff. We would drive from Alamogordo to Juarez to buy Oso Negro Vodka, it had a little black bear on a key chain. $2 a Gallon, as I recall, in 1960. Dad brought it home in the tens of gallons. And we bought cigarettes. For a Dime you could have a pack of Horse Shit cigarettes. (Pall Malls were 30cents) the cig pack had a horse, his head turned towards you with a teethy smile and horse pie coming out of his butt. Well, we smoked those things and the Pall Malls and I really didn't taste much difference. And I never smoked. Except for......

    20 years ago i was a drop out working in a factory and i found a pack of camel no filters in the change room. I had only been smoking for like a year at the time and as a Canadian i had never seen anything like them. Disgusting. You could feel then giving u emphysema. But i was a drop out so i smoked the whole pack and thought i was cool. Ive been cigarette free for almost a year now.

    Wow, show you how much the media has changed, although cigarettes commercial are banned but still there are more cigarettes smokers than ever before, so sad, I know there are a lot of people that has been smoking for decades and has tried to quit with no success, but there is an answer/ Turn to God and ask Him to deliver you from this addiction or any other addiction you may be dealing with, have Faith and God will answer, 100%. Peace and God Bless all
