We’re in 2024 and we still have brand new 30 story plus buildings with deliveries stacking up in the lobby or being turned away by “concierge” robots on their phones oblivious to what is happening around them.

You're not helping locals because they have to pay these two guys 18%. That's a lot for what is essentially delivery but businesses feel forced to offer these services to compete with Amazon, Uber Eats etc...

@@MLife1972it’s not that much - if someone orders fish and chips for a tenner then the commission is only 1.80 and they have to deliver the goods that probably can take up to 15 mins. If you pay 10 pounds per hour to your driver that’s already 2.5 pounds, not mentioning the fuel and car / scooter depreciation. It’s actually a very low commission
Why would you give away so much equity for 80K? I would think those local companies could all pay 5K and get equity in a company they all use themselves.
They are now in other towns now, like Milton Keynes, Doncaster and Canterbury. It may have taken £200m to become national, but slow and steadily they can invest and grow slowly.
It's a good idea, with great guys but it will require many more funding rounds. This seems more like a Y Combinator type of project, where the app is the primary focus. Empowering local business at the same time is great

Their business model is self-contradictory: they're trying to be a national local business, which doesn't make sense. If they want to scale, they're going to have to have large retailers on board, because that's where most of the sales are. But they've deliberately excluded themselves from that market.
There’s some variance dependent on volumes but (McDonalds won’t pay that) but they charge many small retailers that much. My neighbours run a cafe and bakery in the area covered by the app and they pay 40% to one of those.
