I’m from New Orleans and a local word that I love is lagniappe! It’s pronounced “lan-yap” and it means “a little something extra,” like a nice bonus. It’s a Louisiana French word but it’s just so useful I think it should be more widespread!
So thankfull for the video, I love your videos they are so freaking relaxing which is heaven for an anxious girl this time of year. But please if you just need rest then rest. Don't feel bad for missing days when you're ill or busy. Your health is the most important thing, just remember that. Feel better soon❤
oh no Caroline! I’m going through something similar (cought and blocked nose) and your videos have been such a comfort to me during this time. I want to send you my warmest wishes for a speedy recovery. Take care and get well soon 💛
A video even when you're not feeling well? You're a trooper, and a woman of her word. PS - My mom and dad are from Cape Breton, and Gaelic was spoken in both their homes.
This short video was perfect for today! Normally I love a long vlog. But I'm staying at a friend's this weekend, and just wanted a little something for a bit of down time on my own before bed. This was perfect! PS: very committed of you to still out out a video, but also know you don't owe us anything, take all the off days you need ❤
Bless thank you for putting a vlog up today and showing how real life it, that’s why we all love your vlogs, your down to earth personality ❤. Get well soon and hope Lee enjoyed the gig. Keep safe in the storm that is coming, can’t believe another one 😢. My favourite word in another language is bacio kiss 😙 in Italian 🇮🇹 😊
Also, my dad's favorite word in another language is: zmrzlina, which is Czech for ice cream. For foreigners it looks so unpronounceable, but it is! And my German friend told me yesterday about Heimat, which is a word for home, but not in the literal way of home, but more about a sense of belonging to where you come from.
And what a gorg word from German! I feel like Germany usually gets comments on how harsh some of the words are so it’s so nice to hear a gentle one be celebrated 🥹
It was so fun to hear you mention Cape Breton and Nova Scotia today! We love living in NS and fell in love with Isle of Skye when we visited last June 🥰
Rather fond of “bampot” and an old one from the past is “jings krivens help ma bob” which technically is 5 words but when said fast sounds like one word and definitely confuses my American friends (I live in Northern California). I have a friend who quotes her mother when anyone has a cold…..”a cold is 2 days coming, 2 days staying and 2 days leaving”. And most times that is right
Awww yeah you would have been hard pushed to get completely better in a day but we were all rooting for you! I'm sorry you didn't get to go to the concert with Lee and your friends but it's so important to listen to our bodies and I'm sure yours will thank you for it ❤ in answer to your question, I live in France and love the words "nounours" (=teddy bear) and "nounou" (= nanny or childminder) and I often get them mixed up which is a cute mistake to make apparently ☺🤭
Hope you get well soon so you can visit your family. From August to November I had four of the worst colds I’ve ever had and spent a lot of time sleeping and had no appetite (not Covid). Totally understand if you give the Vlogging a miss till you are feeling better. Keep up the lemon and honey. 🤗😷🍋🍯
Feel better! I also haven’t owned a microwave since mine died about five years ago. I honestly haven’t missed it but definitely throws people off when they visit 😂 (also, love the Duolingo shout-out to us in Nova Scotia!)
Flu tips! I don’t know if you have these in Scotland but try neti pots for your sinuses! I swear by them and that’s how I avoid sinus infections after a flu complitely! Also breating steam from a pot covered with a towel helps a lot with the cough. I don’t know if this is basic info but thought to comment anyway XD. Get better soon. 🫶🏻❤️
And my favourite word in another language (Finnish, my native language) is probably jäätelötötterö (ice cream cone) or pumpulipuikko (cotton buds) or Löyly (water you throw to the stones in the sauna)
Sorry you are feeling poorly hope you feel better soon and thanks for still putting up videos you are a troop girl. Okay, when you pouring hot water into your cup you are giving me a heart attack. I am terrified you are going to burn yourself. Leave cup on counter top and take kettle to the cup pretty please. X
I am loving vlogmas, a question for you about languages, do you guys learn Gaelic in school? I’m Irish and we learn it from the age of 4-18, it’s taught terribly though so very little people are fluent unless you go to an Irish speaking school or live in an Irish speaking area.
Sorry you have a bug. Hope you feel better soon and Lee doesn't get sic. kiitos is thank you in Finnish. I like the way it's spelled. ttfn Merry Merry!
I've been ill too, and I found your videos. Your vlogmass has been my entertainment. Hope you heal quickly and feel better soon.

Ahahah I have absolutely no guess as to how that Czech word would be said
And what a gorg word from German! I feel like Germany usually gets comments on how harsh some of the words are so it’s so nice to hear a gentle one be celebrated 🥹

I was ill just before and over Christmas. Not fun to cancel plans, but it’s important to keep people healthy. ❤️🩹
Absolutely! Hope you’re back to full health now!
Feel better! I also haven’t owned a microwave since mine died about five years ago. I honestly haven’t missed it but definitely throws people off when they visit 😂 (also, love the Duolingo shout-out to us in Nova Scotia!)
