  • I have covered just under 10,000 miles (16,000 km) on my Triumph Scrambler 1200 XE in the 8 months since I bought it. Here is an update on my feelings about the bike.
    For a more detailed review of the bikes, please see my earlier videos:

    I recently purchased a euro 5 xc, and because the cat has been moved to the rear part of the exhaust it means its possible to purchase the rear section from the euro 4 model and fitting that to my bike means you keep the standard look, but without the cat.

    3 weeks in on my 2020 XE absolutely love it, having had a Tiger 1200 XRX for the last year… it was a massive change but for the better, I smile every single ride, already fitted bar end mirrors, SP engineering exhaust and Dunlop Meridian tyres… it’s even better now. Just waiting for my luggage to arrive now.

      @@Tiger1200xrx Three or four months in now, and I’m still waiting for my luggage to arrive.
      Loving the bike overall, though.
      Do you have a link to the SP Engineering exhaust?
      I’m looking to upgrade the exhaust on my Scrambler.

    I totally agree.... The Scrambler has amazing usable power... I was so pleased.... New to the Scrambler world.
    I bought the bike knowing the exhaust gets hot.... Will keep my leg warm in winter 😊
    Must admit I'd have preferred to just use a key.
    Great review and fantastic bike. 👍

    Great to hear how you feel about the bike after so many miles! I agree with a lot of it at 2.5k miles. I'm hoping to put a similar windshield on soon too, since yours is almost unnoticeable.

    I enjoyed your analysis of the Triumph Scrambler 1200xe.
    I have one of the same, with about 1500 miles on it now, July 2024.
    It’s a great bike, with tons of power.
    Down here int the Texas summer, the heat off the exhaust is definitely an issue, but I’m not TO bothered by it.
    Looking forward to Autumn, Winter, and Spring riding on the bike, with hopefully less bother by the hot exhaust.
    Mine has the simple key ignition, thank goodness. I am a light-weight guy (135lbs) with a 32 inch inseam, so the seat is no bother to me.
    It is a heavy bike, though. My main problem with my Scrambler 1200 is how heavy it is. It’s all I can do to maneuver it into my garage every night.

  • @1990-t1j
    @1990-t1j 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Isn't it top-heavy? I really like these bikes but that, despite the fact I'm 6', and the keyless nonsense put me off. I wouldn't put a screen on it. I like the wind hitting my chest. I did London to southwest Portugal return on a Buell Ulysses a fair while ago. Very good exercise.

    Another great video as usual thanks Proffessori.
    All the time I've been riding bikes and trikes I have never once clocked the mileage.
    Not a criticism merely an observation of my own ignorance. Keep them coming.

    Informative video 👍🏼 I’m wanting a Bonnie but jeez I just can’t decide between T120, Speed Twin or Scrambler! Missus wants to pop along occasionally so might need the T120 - but that’s only occasionally.

    • @SongsFromTheSaddle
      @SongsFromTheSaddle  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You need to test ride them to compare. The Speed twin has great performance, but I prefer the T120 for the classic looks. (Have you seen my other video in which I toured round California on a T120?) However, I chose to buy the Scrambler XE because it has more room - wider bars and taller seat. I'm 6'1" and it just felt more comfortable.

    I have a 1200 XE Steve McQueen edition and my key fob is working fine. I have done 17000 km with no issue. The ridding is very comfortable but it's not a sport bike. I had issue with engine heat on very hot day, the heat coming from the exhaust is not at all a problem

    • @SongsFromTheSaddle
      @SongsFromTheSaddle  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      My Key fob was actually faulty and turned itself off after a few minutes. Not a major problem,
      but a bit annoying. I see it as a pointless feature and would prefer a normal ignition switch.

    hi great reviews .ive just done 10k on minuend I find that the seat is much better than I thought it would be. The triumph touring screen is not great - I have one if you would like to borrow to try it. I went for the givi screen instead found it to be much better. apparently the unit garages screen is also really goo. Im an instructor so spend 4-5 hours in the saddle every day and I totally agree with your views on this - also sold a BMW to get this.

    Still early days for my 21 plate Scrambler, came with plenty of addons already fitted, but no forward power socket, what a pain that was to fit, for such a simple change!! Have swapped to an earlier stock tailpipe that cosmetically is identical, but later model has cat in the tailpipe so that's now gone. In 2 minds over using phone for sat nav or if will look for a mount for my tom-tom rider unit.

    are they too soft, too hard, not enough traction in the dirt ?

    • @SongsFromTheSaddle
      @SongsFromTheSaddle  ปีที่แล้ว

      Poor handling, on and off tarmac. I've had the same tyres on other bikes and they were great, so maybe there's something different about the OEM version. I'm now using 100% road tyres & I'm much happier with those.
