What a great collection to visit! I was 8 years old in 1963 and on a family vacation in our 63 Pontiac Catalina somewhere on Rt 66 going to Missouri when we stopped at a gas station a Chrysler turbine drove in. I will always remember seeing that car and the amount of attention that it created. I have always loved those cars and have not seen one since. I guess it’s time to visit the Gilmore! Thanks Paul for a great video…
Well, I rearranged my Bucket List and put the Gilmore Museum at the top of the list. I appreciate the compassion from so many car enthusiasts that lut so much time to preserve car history. I really like the Ford police wagon. Another great video Paul...
They put on an incredible event. I need to go back to the museum on a day where they don't have an event just so I can actually go and look at everything they have without being distracted.

Mr. Eugene (Tunney) Ninedorf in the early 1960s restored an early 1928 Model A (AR) with a multi-disk clutch, like a motorcycle. Dad did everything in restorations, engine, bodywork, interior upholstery, cloth roof, ... Dad had multiple Model A and T, including a wooden body Model T Depot Hack. That was a great video Paul! So many beautiful cars. The Model A's were awesome but did you know that there was a Chrysler Turbine car there too? Have a great weekend Paul and Tina!
Wow thank you, hopefully one of these days i'll get to see it in person. also thank you ,thank you ,thank you, for putting the model a mail truck on a shirt I asked about a picture but this is even better. again thank you!!!!

Mr. Paul Shinn, how are you today? Yes sir, a beautiful Town car, love it, can I have one? Just kidding, I couldn't afford it, for sure. The bus you hijacked was a wonderful looking bus, and I thought I seen a Chrysler Turbine car, not sure, yep, a beauty. Great one Paul, I loved it, thanks for sharing, have a wonderful weekend.

@@ModelA o man. Yes I would love to be in one of your videos. That would be amazing. Wish I was closer to you. Who knows. Maybe somewhere down the line.
The Gilmore has been on my list to visit since opening... current culture "villainizes" the internal combustion engine, but I say it was one of mankind's ( yep, used the word) greatest engineering accomplishments.. The Gilmore celebrates cars, which transformed transportation ( and the world) forever. The electric push is interesting to see, but really brings out the most bizarre behavior in some. We have a ways to go, but I will ALWAYS respect the engineering and ingenuity of the designers and builders of past times who used slide rules, paper and pencils. Thank you!
I once told a little girl that the Model A was the first "smart car". Her mom who was driving the Prius they were in looked pretty put out at what I was driving. Her mom's politics had clearly jaded the girl's opinions. However, after I told her how the Model A saved the planet, she was very excited about it!
@@ModelA Stephen Ambrose, the renowned author who documented the greatest generation says that the American boys of the 1940’s grew up fixing, tuning, learning about their family cars, the Model T, Model A , etc. of the pre war era. It was common sense and "know-how" that these boys carried into the war. These same kids were able to fix, re-engineer, rig and keep all the engines running during the Second World war, keeping the Allied war machine moving and outpacing the Germans. Great video, entertaining, fun…and they have a Turbine Car. I’ve been to the Museum and it is truly a wonderful place. Your presentation did it justice, Thanks (maybe next year I can attend the Model A Days..looks like fun)
The Gilmore museum is an absolute jewel. It is an "immersive experience ".the Henry Ford Museum is a historic place that has a lot of things on display that are very impressive. But, it has become a very heavily curated experience from a cultural perspective. The HF has been converted into a child's attraction in many ways. I could level some other criticism of what the Henry Ford Museum has changed into. However, the Gilmore museum has NOT been taken over by eggheads. The makes and era's of vehicle's are wonderfully displayed and the layout of the property is impressive. I believe that it has exceeded the HF in the way that they present how the automobile fit into the American society.
I have had John B. call me when he has had (what he thought was a major) mechanical problem with his car and he was so relaxed and calm over the phone. "Yea, so the engine ran 5 seconds and died a few times. Now it won't start at all. I've checked everything I can think of; I'm thinking maybe timing gear broke? I broke a valve? What do you think?" Anyone else would have been in a panic. John was so laid back. Made it so much easier to work with him to fix it over the phone.
John Begg is one of my favorite people! Yes, his voice is so calm and reassuring. If the building was on fire and John told me in his voice "The fire is on the other end of the building, we will be fine right here", I would totally believe him.
I was there last Saturday as well . Sorry I missed you ,not for a lack of trying . What a wonderful place . The first car I photographed was the Chrysler Turbine ,so cool ! I wound up making several passes through the various buildings and around the grounds . So much to take in .
@@ModelA The Tucker was a surprise too . Walked right by it on my way to the Model A stuff .lol , Saw it on my second pass through that building ,felt kind of silly for not noticing it .
St Paul Plant not Mpls. I spotted that plant and pulled out Ford Rangers. I still drive my 2011 St Paul made truck. Been running thru that Plant as a Ford Fan it was heaven. I loved working there-RR. I walked my lunches there. Such history.
Hi Paul, I'm guessing that you would like to own a Chrysler Turbine car! I've seen 3. The Portland Roadster Show in Portland, Oregon in 1963 was the first time. Standing in my front yard in Hood River, Oregon watching one drive by. And the Harris museum in Sparks, Nevada. I get goosebumps just thinking about those cars.
Frankly you could of had a three hour long video and I don’t think you’d have covered everything at the Gilmore Museum! Probably because you’d have spent two and a half hours on the turbine car! Just kidding! I’m glad you included other areas of the museum as well as Model A’s ( Model A days was incredible by the way!) as I would have liked to see all of it but my old tired legs weren’t up to it. Thanks for letting us tour the show with you! I really enjoy all your videos! P.S. I also really like the color combination of your coup, especially the wheels!
Paul! Don’t hate on the mannequins! My mom curates the fashion for the model A museum and has spent hours on them! Kidding a bit… but so grateful for the great content this week and always!
I can't understand why Thomas Edison would have a beautiful Model-A Two-Door altered into a Phaeton. It seems to me back in the day people wouldn't want open cars because many had grown up with open buggies so choosing an enclosed car would be the first choice. And I understand that the Model-A Two-Door was the biggest seller. I know that people did opt to buy Phaetons, perhaps not intending to use the car during winter or in a severe means of saving money, either I doubt would apply to Edison. I'm certain were I around back when I'd have bought an enclosed Model-T as soon as Ford had released that type.
@@ModelA Paul, I'm sorry that you took the time here to reply because I know that you're very busy. My comment wasn't a question. I was just making a statement. But thanks for your input.
Outstanding Mr Shinn.I do believe you had quite the time at the museum. Absolutely without a doubt some of the most beautiful cars around. THANKS PAUL.DEAN J.
Paul, don't forget to mention the turbo car. haha Anyhow, the government told Chrysler to destroy all of these cars. Something tells me it wasn't the reason they gave though. I'm tinking all the other co's complained that this car could affect the whole industry. And yes, I hear that Jay Leno has one. haha Good video Paul.
Enjoyed this video, however, there is way too much discussion of the Chrysler Turbine - once or twice would have been sufficient; I would have enjoyed more video, and discussion, on other models in this collection.
I disagree. The name of the channel is "Paul Shinn". That is a bucket-list item for me, and I was able to share it with my friends here. If you understand it for what it is, you'll see.
О! Именно об этом самолёте я говорил тебе прежде, Пол. И сейчас их много летает. Это Питенпол Эйр Кэмпер. Правда он должен быть двухместный, а тут одноместный. Совершенно верно, у него двигатель от Форда модели А. Oh, that's the plane I told you about, Paul. And now there are a lot of them flying. This is Pietenpol Air Camper. True, it should be a double, but here it is a single. That's right, it has a Ford Model A engine.
So Paul...if God was kind enough to grant you a choice between The Chrysler Turbine Car...or Number One, which would it be? I think I know. BTW, I only live about 60 miles from Hickory's Corners and had planned to come to the event. I had to work that day unfortunately.

Yep, the Gilmore is awesome.
Such a great place. I was there Saturday for Model A day :)
Me too!
Thanks Paul for a great video.
Glad you enjoyed it Ron!
I was there last Saturday as well . Sorry I missed you ,not for a lack of trying . What a wonderful place . The first car I photographed was the Chrysler Turbine ,so cool ! I wound up making several passes through the various buildings and around the grounds . So much to take in .
The Town Car in the A Museum was the one I really wanted to see . I had never seen one in person .
That was is truly breathtaking
@@ModelA The Tucker was a surprise too . Walked right by it on my way to the Model A stuff .lol , Saw it on my second pass through that building ,felt kind of silly for not noticing it .
St Paul Plant not Mpls. I spotted that plant and pulled out Ford Rangers. I still drive my 2011 St Paul made truck. Been running thru that Plant as a Ford Fan it was heaven.
I loved working there-RR. I walked my lunches there. Such history.
That's awesome
Great video Paul!
Thanks, Ricardo!
The Turbine car is FANTASTC! The history is amazing!!!! Sad, the company destroyed the majority after field tests. 😯
When I read about it as a kid, I came close to crying about it. That says a lot for an autistic kid to cry.
I would give my spleen for one
Frankly you could of had a three hour long video and I don’t think you’d have covered everything at the Gilmore Museum! Probably because you’d have spent two and a half hours on the turbine car! Just kidding! I’m glad you included other areas of the museum as well as Model A’s ( Model A days was incredible by the way!) as I would have liked to see all of it but my old tired legs weren’t up to it. Thanks for letting us tour the show with you! I really enjoy all your videos!
P.S. I also really like the color combination of your coup, especially the wheels!
Thank you! And thanks for the gifts!
My favorite place to look at cars in Michigan
Yes!
Paul! Don’t hate on the mannequins! My mom curates the fashion for the model A museum and has spent hours on them!
Kidding a bit… but so grateful for the great content this week and always!
Sorry, Phil. It's a childhood phobia. I can't stand them, no matter how well dressed!
@@ModelA Well , maybe just refer to those mannequins as "action figures", and they will be tolerable .
The only "action" I see them doing is killing me in my sleep
My parents bought there original 1920-30s clothing at a store in Chilton WI.
I got to ride in a Chrysler turbine car at the 1964 World's Fair. It was a short ride, but really cool.
LUCKY!!!
nice video, thank you Paul
Thanks Don!
I don't know. Maybe because he was the outdoorsy type? No idea.
@@ModelA Paul, I'm sorry that you took the time here to reply because I know that you're very busy. My comment wasn't a question. I was just making a statement. But thanks for your input.
That was fun! What a museum. I also love turbine cars and abhor mannequins!
How difficult would it be to draw one? All those curves!
Great video Paul Gorgeous Chrysler turbo car
Thanks John!
Paul, this time next week I should be the next care taker of a A400 and I’m taking the top down for the first drive for you…Ken
AWESOME!!! Please take lots of pictures!!
So right Paul! Auburn Boattail Speedsters ARE the sexyist cars ever built...to me anyway!
Is that turbine car operational? The closest I've ever come to seeing one was watching the video of Jay Leno driving his.
I honestly don't know. Never thought to ask!
Amazing Cars ans the CHRYSLER TURBINE CAR WOW.......Thanks brother Paul......Paul l would love to light up J79 engines just one more time.....Shoe🇺🇸
That would be cool! You have to go, brother. My video doesn't do it justice
@@ModelA F-4 Phantom was my deal over Nam so many years ago look me up in the Blues Call sign Axel...Thanks Paul....Shoe🇺🇸
Outstanding Mr Shinn.I do believe you had quite the time at the museum. Absolutely without a doubt some of the most beautiful cars around. THANKS PAUL.DEAN J.
Many thanks!
wow awesome video thank you
Glad you enjoyed it Mack!
That Chrysler Turban was the Batmobile prototype I think.
Yea!
The Gilmore Museum is the best.
Yep
I was the same way when I saw that turbine car! No words, just amazing! I couldn't believe it, but I had to cuz I was looking right at it
The difference is, camera was rolling- I had to say something! I just wanted to stay and stare at it.
Great video.
Thanks!
Cool turban car!!!
cool buS!!
Cooler driver!
Yep, Jay has one that runs. Wow
It's amazing. Paul hates the Chrysler Turbin car. 😄
Hahhaaa!!!
Right! Thank you very much, my friend
What is the number on the Turbine?
Number?
So many cool cars, so many creepy mannequins! 😬
Yes!!
Do they have a Chrysler turbine car there?
Maybe...
❤
So Paul...if God was kind enough to grant you a choice between The Chrysler Turbine Car...or Number One, which would it be? I think I know. BTW, I only live about 60 miles from Hickory's Corners and had planned to come to the event. I had to work that day unfortunately.
I would daily the turbine car, and I would be terrified to drive Model A #1......
NAILED IT!
So let me get this straight Paul, you really dig the Chrysler Turbine car, is that right?
It's OK
What Does John Marshall have to do with the Dukes of Hazard. I have no idea who he is .
Paul great video have you been to Ireland and to ballinascarty West Cork to birth places of Henry ford's grandparents farm
No
@@ModelA you should link the history
Must have been a ma%net in that Chrysler
By the way, there is a Chrysler turbine car over there! 👉😉👍👍👍👍
For real? Where??!!
@@ModelA I took the better half to the Gilmore and saw the turbine car there last year in June and was super cranked to see a car I’ve read about and loved since I was a kid.
But, do they have a Chrysler Turbine Car? Totally not sure still. 😉
