  • A classic Krithi of Saint Thyagaraja set with "The Bridge Ensemble", arranged and directed by Poovalur Sriji.
So many outrages about how this Krithi had to be performed!
These are students who had a semester to understand about the music from the percussive stand point of Tyagaraja's creation.
    Performers:
Thanmayee Keishnamurhty, Aaron Covey, Robert Chapman, Brennan Davis, Ryan Espinosa, Hyunwoong Jang, Mathew Kossick, Kai Po Lan, Christopher Livemois, Jasper Saldana
There was a dog (watch), Ring Sing ( It's parent's should be appreciated for giving this name!) commented that I was scared for the negative comments, thus turned the comments section off!
I got so much positive comments. The negative comments about Bhakthi (devotion) was the reason to turn it off.
We at University of North Texas trained ourself about the Anti-Bias & Cultural Awareness to understand and to respect cultural diversity.
This piece is an interpretation to appreciate Thyagaraja's rhythmic sense.
The intricate rhythmic pattern was composed by my father, P. A. Venkataraman way back in 1977. This was performed by Indian National Orchestra at Thiruvaiyaru under the conductor Emani Sankara Sastri.
This is a percussion Ensemble, the students studied Indian music for a semester, (16 hours!) and gave this performance.
