I’m sure that if the opportunity presents itself, Russia will go after Odessa. However, I don’t think there’s even a slim chance of that happening in this special military operation. It would put everything gained at risk. Plus, if Russia wanted Odessa it would have included it in its constitution as it did with the other oblasts.

If my info is correct since in September 22 when Russia officially declared Kherson, Zaporozhe Donetsk and Luhansk as part of Russia, legally Putin is obliged to fight until the whole administrative area is under Russian control ... which mean unless Ukraine capitulates on this Russia will have to cross the Dneper sooner or later

I’m not a Russian lawyer, but I’d assume you’re right. Those occupied territories are part of the Russian Federation as per their Constitution. And I would assume the commander in chief and his defense ministry have a legal duty to protect territorial integrity at all costs.
Putin has no other choice than to take these territories through fight or negotiations. Otherwise, he loses credibility and his power.
Yeah, many failed to notice Putin himself was reluctant to make a war over these separatist territories and tried hard to make Ukraine retain them on terms the separatists would agree to. But the situation now is that a Ukrainian regime can't be trusted to responsibly govern or protect ethnic Russians. This is covered by the UN "Responsibility to Protect".
Control of the islands on the Dnieper is important after the war. If UKR holds them, then the main channel of the river in that section becomes an internal waterway, rather than a shared one. That could impede Russia's use of the river for trade and logistics. The river moves vast amounts of raw materials and goods in peacetime.

14:38 The Oskil River here is seriously impassible even in summer. Infantry can't wade across. Note the "bridge" being struck is gravel fill on culverts (steel tubes). Not a pontoon bridge. You can see the streams of white water jetting from the culverts. Takes a lot of explosive to shift a pile of gravel, and you can repair the damage with a dumptruck.

From Kurakhova it is only 17 km to Kostyantyanopil on the intersection of the N15 and T515 south roads. The T515 being one of the six roads into Pokrovsk 38 km to the north. The T509 road is about 30 km to the south, the east-west road Vuhledar sits on, a road that kind of ends at Velyka Novosilka 30 km south of Kostyantyanooil.
Those are the pretty obvious Russian medium term objectives in that area, and the distances aren't very far - should ukraine defenses collapse and Russia commits reserves.
There is no collapse anywhere… collapse is when you conquer half of France in 8 weeks. This is Verdun type attrition. Ukraine is resisting very successfully such that it would take Russia 10 years to get to Kiev.

Eg. a dozen MPs just resigned from the Servant of the People Party, Klitschko's recent critical speech, etc. On the military side, there is an acute shortage of artillery shells and short-range missiles (refer to Syrsky's recent comment and Reuters' in depth article on 155mm shell production).
