downbeats young selector spoilt the flow of downbeat, roddy played good flowing sets. but he delibrately plays modern tune against downbeat because they have too much foundation tunes. love roddy -and he played good sets- but downbeat are different and deeper. good clash... downbeat get my vote
Some of Rodigan's selections at certain points in the early rounds were questionable, but in the one-fe-one segment some of his selections were lame. Downbeat deserved to win this clash hands down.
I always laugh at 3:20 when Ernest Wilson reminds Peter Austin, that he was ‘one of the Clarendonians also’. Can’t leave him out, he must get a mention 😂

Facts. I love Roddy but he does that most of time. Sometimes he loses clashes because he doesn't know to hold back some big vocal tunes for the one for one when it sticky for him.

The reason Downbeat is stuck in the past is because he is an elderly man who has memories of when dances were great in Jamaica and New York. His passion for old school reggae music is formidable. Downbeat ensures he uses the original riddims which makes the music sound more authentic. One can't expect an old man of 70 or over to be into dance hall music . So to say Downbeat is stuck needs more thought
