    Bye Bye Love was the Everlys' first hit, and Phil Everly said years later that if the song hadn't had Don Everly's intro, it might not have been a hit.

    This reminds me of someone I met in Victoria early 90's I think. And what a terrific voice! Love your work!

      ASMRWhisperLight. Awesome, it's definitely a tricky intro, but it can be simplified into something much more basic. Sounds like you're making tons of progress, congrats. -Rob

      The Walking Dread Hey thanks, glad you liked it. It's an interesting tune to sing, as its suppose to be sung with that laid back, almost lazy delivery, as most of the energy was in that amazing Everly Brothers harmony... I've heard people refer to it as a "blood harmony", as family members usually have similar and complimentary voices. Anyway, thanks a lot for the positive feedback, glad you're still digging these vids. -Rob

    Hi just wanna say thanks again. That intro was definitely trickier than I expected especially that last A chord inversion. The thing I like about your guitar lesson videos is the fact that you bring in those inversions and spice things up and not just simplify things. If there is anything I would personally like to request is Summerwind by Sinatra. It repeats the same progression but modulates after every verse. Or maybe a song by Billy Joel like Honesty or New York State of Mind.I am just a pop singer / guitarist but I enjoy pop jazz versions of songs. I have learned your version of At Last and Georgia. No rush on the request and a thousand thanks for all your efforts. You seem to really want your viewers / students to learn...that makes you a great teacher. All the very best.

      jumari63 Hey thanks so much for the thoughtful and positive comments. Those are awesome suggestions, as I've been looking through Sinatra's catalog lately. If you could submit those via the link, that would be helpful. So glad you are finding my lessons useful. Thanks for reaching out!

    Cool. It is not an exaggeration to say that much of Keith Richards's career is based on his using Open G tuning. And Richards learned Open G from Don Everly.

      The73275 Absolutely. I've done an acoustic version of Hotel California already. But I could see myself doing Take it Easy, and maybe a finger picking version of Desperado.

    The intro, at least the way you play it, is out of my league. The rest of the song is fine. In fact, a whole lot of the guitar players I pick with wouldn't be able to play that intro.

    • @c.benmansour3546
      @c.benmansour3546 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nothing is way out of your league:) Practice those chords, I promise you'll be able to play it in no time!

  • @ahmadhakim4142

    hey Rob , i want to know if you are using standard tuning for this song ?

    • @swiftlessons
      @swiftlessons  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ahmad hakim Yup, all standard. Thanks for watching!

  • @StephenAKatz
    @StephenAKatz 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

    You've got it wrong. The Everly's play the song in Open G tuning. The intro can only be played correctly in Open G. So put in some work and learn to play the song in Open G tuning--then it will sound like the Everly's version.

    • @swiftlessons
      @swiftlessons  19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      This lesson is geared toward beginner-intermediate students, and it matches what the Everly Brothers did live when playing in standard tuning. In the future, I might break down the Open G techniques, it definitely sounds cooler.
