Awesome educational blog. Thank you
The Glory days of Ontario , California are long, long gone and forgotten by those living there now, for the most part. The Guasti Mansion and Vineyards along with the Orange Groves are long gone.
Ah, the the Ontario ball park I know it well. I played AA ball there for the American legion team. Jay Littleton, who was the sales manager at Citrus Motors and Ontario , was an avid baseball fan, and one of the biggest benefactors of the ball field, and was a Legionnaire himself. He coached many teams that played there and when he died it was only aptly fitting that the city of Ontario dedicated the park to him. He was in American Legion Post 112 and good friends of my dad and I worked for Jay in the ‘70’s as a lot porter and then as a small duty mechanic at Citrus Motors Ford when it was located there on W. Holt boulevard. Lots of fond memories there and spent lots of time going to ball games when I was a little boy. So, it’s nice to see they have not changed the park very much at all as it is kind of an historical monument in that town. Lots of good memories there. I lived in Ontario for 59 years. Nice work Jerry keep up the good work!
Wow. Thank you very much for sharing that. That's very interesting. I try to find out as much history as possible but it's something else when you talk to someone with stories. Thank you for sharing and for watching!
Would pass by that place all the time but never went inside. Now I never will 😭
Awesome, Met Bill Russell and Mamny Mota on that field, when I was a wee lad...
You did it again Jerry, great job!
Thanks Gilbert! Thanks for watching again. I hope all is well man.
Don't forget about the original X files filmed a show there.
I live right next-door to the park there
God job jerry,
Some great history!
Thank you very much Carla!
Awesome. Never knew Jackie played in Ontario. As a Dodger fan that is great. The Chicago Cubs used to train on Catalina Island and we had a Wrigley Field in South Central LA where the Los Angeles Angels played. Thanks for this great history lesson.
The x files, I was a extra.
I remember beating Bishop Amat there (John Galvin) 1971
The Dodgers use to hold baseball clinic there when I was playing in little league. Meet Manny Mota, Wes Parker and Jim Lefebvre there and had my Dodger hat signed by them. Lot of good memories. Thanks for all these vlogs.
Thank you James! I always pass by there, as a child I played baseball there. Now in my 30's , it brings back good memories from my childhood.
My pleasure L ddo. I'm glad i'm able to keep that memory going for you! It's an awesome stadium that should be around for generations to see.Thank you very much for watching.
You can actually see some nice color footage of the Ontario Orioles and some of the people in the stands that was shot during their one and only season in the Life In Ontario 1947 video here on TH-cam at about the 10:30 minute mark.
The city has plans expand Grove Street. Do you think this was on purpose?
So sad this place just burned down
Jax's market it used to be alpha beta! Annmarie again my brother used to play baseball there.
Man great video brother i grew up across the street from the park watching the guard march down the street i miss that place
Thanks Ie Kid. They actually still march at times in that area.
What about that fish and games building that is in the parking lot of that field .
I didn't notice any building like that. I pretty much stood near the stadium the whole time.
JerryJames it's a brown building that has a little sign on it saying fish and games . It would be on the facing towards the gas station ⛽️
Great videos I love learning my history from my local communities I am from the Fontana area
