Hey slide love the videos, thanks for sharing. We have been honored this year in being able to enjoy and share dinner and camp with so many hikers this year. We are honored to be able to serve others, especially those who have served for our country, thank you! You’re an inspiration, I love the 10 before ten.
    Scott

Great going man!!! You're definitely the most northern most hiker I'm following. Love you making those big miles.

Thank you for your support and nice words! Even a middle aged bald dude can make miles with the kids 😂

You should film some of those epic hiking scenes where you put your camera down and walk away, just to come back and get the camera. Keep it up brother!

I may try that. That’s not my style though. 😂

Good luck with the hot weather and/or wildfires!

In the process of navigating the fire situation. Part 17 video should address some of this (hopefully only once!)
      Appreciate the kind words.

I was just in Lassen about a week and half ago, and still lots of snow. Lake Helen and Emerald Lake still frozen. Guess the PCT must be at a lower level.

yes, the PCT bypasses all the prettier and snowier parts of Lassen Volcanic National Park. So much burned in the Dixie Fire in 2021 that it is kind of sad after my last 40 years of camping and backcountry skiing there

Agree. PCT thru the park was so sad. The northern part of the park showed promise, as trees that survived the Dixie fire will cone and new trees will grow. Good to have a mix of ages of trees in a forest.

I have day hiked just north of Castle Crags, near Gumboot Lake (just off the trail), as well as Mt. Shasta. It's interesting to see the areas between Donner Summit and Dunsmuir, that I am not familiar with. Almost out of California! What is your pack wt.?

Happy Fourth of July and thank you for your continued support and geological lessons. I’m learning from you and others as I walk this amazing land!

Love your videos you're a true inspiration, I'm so proud of you. Was this the first Rattle snake that you have encountered on the PCT ?

It was not. First one was way back in the desert section.

If you need a ride from back and forth to trail days, from anywhere north or south of cascade locks, let me know. I'm reliable. Another option: Ollalie Lake store - Jon Thor Austen
