I had the pixel 2 and have had the pixel 5 for this past year. Exceptionally good phone and the size is perfect. I'll be upgrading to an 8 soon because I saw the size is pretty close to the 5. But I won't just let the 5 rot in the drawer; it's too good for that. I've actually done photo comparisons with iphone 13 pros and 14s and everyone was blown away by how good the pixel photos are. Even in a side by side comparison with the 14 pro max, more people still preferred the 5! And oh, it's a battery powerhouse!

I got a brand new pixel 8 at the start of the year, the Small things added up and drove me fucking nuts so I returned it.
I then bought a used pixel 5 for $220 CAD, and aside from the battery life not being the greatest which I might need to replace... I love this phone. I love the price, the size is THE BEST, the weight is phenomenal, I love the software, I love the screen, I love the speakers, and I specially love the back that won't cost me an arm and a leg when it gets cracked and breaks because like a glass back.

I can't speak to a Samsung, but as someone who switched from iPhone to Pixel...
Have you ever gone to multiple supermarkets and realised that some just feel cold, lifeless, and sterile whilst others seem cosy, and comfortable, and like you can walk around and enjoy your time there?
The Pixel makes the iPhone feel like that sterile supermarket you never want to go back to after you find the cosy and personality-filled supermarket you switch to permanently.

The same problem with my Pixel 5:
Always on screen mode doesn’t work properly. The screen goes totally black seconds after it is locked, though it has to always reflect “always on screen” info. As well, totally black screen neither responds to touch, nor to taking the phone into my hands (nothing happens when I touch the screen or take the phone; it remains in sleep mode without any sign).
Reboot fixes this for a short period of time (about an hour or so), and then the screen goes black again, only responding to pushing the power button.

@@julyhongsa8754 It depends on how you use it
It's been 3 years since it was released and then the phone got me through 7 and a half hour screen time under heavy use and about 10 hours on normal
I did have a few days where I didn't use my phone much and got through 2 days without charging it
Now however, it also depends on the version of the android you're on,
Android 14 drains battery so I didn't update it,
After about 3 years of using this beast of a phone, it still gets me 6hrs of heavy use and about 8 hours of normal use (again, gets me through the entire day)

I actually just fixed that issue on my pixel 5 a week ago, feels brand new again. Many pixels have a gap between the display and the body (for me it was around the front camera). Remove any dirt with a toothpick, heat the top of the phone with a hairdryer and finally press the display to the body, removing the gap and put it under a stash of heavy books for an hour or so. Sounds weird, but it works!
