  • Peg Lynch is a pioneer radio and television comedian and writer noted for writing and starring in in "Ethel and Albert," one of the first TV "sitcoms." The Peg Lynch Papers (nwda.orbiscasca...) are included in Special Collections and University Archives, and comprise original scripts, audio recordings, and original films of the TV show. The clip here is a preliminary oral history interview conducted in April 2013 during which she talks of working with Margaret Hamilton, the actor who played the "Wicked Witch of the West" in The Wizard of Oz. SCUA staff plan to return to Massachusetts where Ms. Lynch lives to conduct a formal full-length oral history interview during which they can capture many more interesting stories of radio and TV history! You can hear Peg Lynch in her television show "Ethel and Albert" here: • Video .

Margaret appeared as essentially the same character (whether she was called "Aunt Eva", "Aunt Effie", or "Aunt Maggie") on "ETHEL AND ALBERT", "THE COUPLE NEXT DOOR", and Peg's final radio series, "THE LITTLE THINGS IN LIFE".

I think we have to remember, Margaret Hamilton was a lovely lady, but Dementia robs people of their personalities. In this case, it did just that to the wonderfully kind loving Margaret Hamilton. Those with Dementia lose who they are and exactly that happened to poor Margaret Hamilton. To me, she will be the wonderful woman she was who went on Mr. Rodgers to explain to children that she was playing pretend and acting in the Wizard of Oz. She did this to help children be less frightened of the fictitious character she portrayed on the Wizard of Oz. Only in her last few years of living did the horrible disease of Dementia rob her of her true loving personality.

"Ethel and Albert" had a large T.V. following, very whimsical, very off beat, very off the beaten path. Peg Lynch was a great writer.

I beg Miss Lynch’s pardon, but Miss Hamilton had as much right to make a living as did Lynch.

Her denigrating her memory is so sad! She was a very nice woman by all accounts until the end of her life when she was not the same. This would have best been left unsaid!!!

To keep the record straight MS Hamilton was moved to a nursing home in Salisbury CT where she passed Dont think she was in a padded cell.

Yes , Miss Lynch was very lucky. She should have tried to be kind instead of catty.

I have listened to old radio shows for 40 years, I never heard of this woman. I have watched some of her 15 minute spots for tv, I was not impressed.

this is too awful to watch. and the 2 women with her sound rather obnoxious as well. the once delightful lynch is a sad mess now
