I would not have ever buried Roger along side his killer I don't care if he was his brother as hard as Roger worked he did not deserve to be gunned down like that and to share the same headstone was heartless and disrespectful this is my opinion if you don't agree keep scrolling let me say this I do not hate his brother I just hate what he did!💔

I remember being the minority white boy at Colonel White and my friends turning me onto Rodger Troutman. When I went into the service I had been raised up with predominantly black influences and I was always welcome into the black culture and always felt like an outcast with other white boys. I had some great nights out partying with my homies and race was never discussed between us. It felt so natural to listen too and be around the awesome culture of my brothers and sisters.

also it was used like an experimental thing by various artists

No one was around to say exactly what happened and I guess we'll never know what really happened-save for those who may have been responsible for the Troutman brothers' deaths...and thank you for your comments-you are the first besides myself, after all of these years now, to say that their deaths may not have been as reported in the news. 6-21-22.

Used to work for the M.E.'s office it sounds like one of 3 possiblities with the word "slammed" 1. He pulled off the road against a tree with suicidal Ideations 2. He unsuccesfully used the tree/car during a failed suicidal Ideation then resorted to the gun 3. foul play (unlikely). I would have to see the scene photos & autopsy photos to know for sure. Slammed is really subjective.

It’s also possible that maybe they owed money to someone who was tired of waiting (since Roger had that conversation with his sister about having $2 million dollars but owing $4 million not long before his death). Maybe that person came to the studio and confronted them as they were leaving or forced them at gun point into the alley. That person could have shot Roger in front of Larry, which would have explained the tears on Larry’s face. Then, he could’ve made Larry get into the car and start the engine, held the gun over Larry’s hand and shot him in the head (or just shot him in the head himself). They could’ve reached over, put the car in drive, depressed the gas petal with their foot, and then shut the door as it started to roll until it hit the tree. Or, if there was force in the impact, the person could’ve been in the passenger side of the car with Larry, forced him to accelerate towards the tree, shot him and jumped out or shot him first, then pressed down on the gas and jumped out before it got to the tree. Without seeing the scene it’s hard to know how plausible that might be but you never know.

    • @justanjustan9624
      @justanjustan9624 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Those are some interesting theories which I never considered. Although unfortunately, I'm wondering if Occams razor applies here {truth being the simple answer basically). One minor gripe: the conversation about having $2 Million dollars but owing $4 Million happened between Larry and his daughter not Roger and his sister. If his success on the charts at the time was anything to go by, I'd say Roger was likely doing well financially. It was Larry who was going into debt.

You are so right Roger was the best I used to work at a club that had live performances. Roger and Zapp played there one night.
I was sitting there and Roger came to my table and started talking to me ,he was so nice we talked for about twenty minutes. He signed a flyer for me he said I looked like a princess
A few week later he was killed .That really hurt me because I had just met him and he was such a wonderful person.

I believe that the way that they explained his death scene on Unsung was exactly how it happened and that it completely came to a head that morning. I overheard the news by waking up to someone telling my dorm roommate over the phone that his brother killed him over 💰 and he replied back with " That's TOO BAD because I liked his show" & that was the homecoming concert that I missed out on. Now, the only memory that I have of him was all of his albums that I blasted at my old apartment 13 YEARS AGO and the limited concert footage that's been on streams. Roger was an absolute SMASH in the black community back in the day and my favorite grandma in the whole wide world who went home to Glory was his BIGGEST fan especially since I can make you dance was one of her favorite songs.

When it comes to money unfortunately family can be the worse. We all can only speculate. That was a sad tragedy between two brothers.
Speaking from my own personal experience I had to sue my sister pertaining to a loan. When me and my brothers had a band it was said my eldest brother was keeping the bonus pay we earned instead of equally dividing the money.
Only the family and the victims really know what happened.
Money can and it will change the way people think.
Like I said family can be the worst. Jealousy, envy and some families feel when you become successful you owe them now keep in mind no help came from the family maybe the parents and you might get a little support because you are related but, you did the work and sometimes one may face the negativity to fail instead of succeeding. There is a lot to consider. Understand we are outside trying to look in.
Maybe one day the truth will come out what really happened and why.
All we can say is May these Brothers RIP and Prayers and Condolences to the family🙏🏾

It's really an odd thing with family like that. my family is the same way and it gets under my skin so much that I litterally give all my things away and let them have everything. im the second to youngest and have an older brother who ignores me always. he was that way when i was a kid too but i chalked up to him being a teenager. but clear he was jealous of me. I was always better at anything we did and ask when am i going to get rich so we can have more family wise. Because I am an actor and singer. writer, fashion designer. I can doo it all and my younger sister always tries to best me at everything, always borrowing money and never pay back. I think it is a case of, were family. what is he gon do? nothing. lol.

I remember the day he was murdered, reading it, I couldn't believe it, I couldnt get it out of my head, the next day at school(I was in 7th grade at the time) it irked the shit out of me that nobody seemed to know or even care when i asked them about it, and not just my peers, im talking adults,my teachers too, something similar happened about 14 and later when Nate Dogg passed and as much as i damn near idolize Nate and love damn near everything he ever did, Roger was and always willbe one of the very few I can't even put into words or give any number or rank to and theres countless men and women, specifically in music that don't even know or recognize how much of their foundation they have Roger along with Zapp to thank for..even more so anyone using Talkbox, Auto Tune etc...for him to be killed by his brother much like Marvin Gaye being killed by his Father who never faced the justice he should have, the same goes for Larry, how could u kill to your brother over anything less than Evil? It certainly factored into my belief in Family, it means a lot to me but I learned a long time ago just cuz someone is Family dont make them anymore Reliable and Trustworthy than a Good Friend or sometimes even a Benevolent Stranger..I hope u resting peacefully Roger ....and Larry.. well maybe i shouldn't say what im thinking about Larry

Wow. Shocking news. I remember going to a Zapp concert in the early 80’s.
I never really knew the history of Zapp and accordingly when I heard there was a Zapp Troutman I always thought he was the leader of the group but the lead singer was Roger Troutman and also the leader but now it all makes sense.
Many of us seek fame and fortune and think those that have it are blessed but at times it can be or eventually be a curse.
RIP and pray for the Troutman family. 🙏

Roger, the master of the talk box, also had Shirley Murdock in the harmony with it on songs like Everybody Get Up, etc. You can try to cover his songs but you need a woman who has a "bite through the mix" tone in her voice. The only other artist I can think of who has that is Jody Watley. "Night To Remem berrrrrrrr". I initially thought Roger was using a vocoder b/c I know how difficult the talk box is to get the words so clear. He not only mastered it, he modified everything involved with it on the electronics end as well. He was an engineer. Very smart.

Wow you are definitely right my brother. Thanks for explaining how you did. A lot of people don’t understand how important these details are especially when it comes to music like this. I wish I knew more people my age(27) that took the details and information about the content of art the way you obviously do.
