- Vote on LEGO IDEAS for this LEGO model to become a real set! ideas.lego.com...
I've spent more than 300 hours designing this model of the iconic Union Pacific No.4014 "Big Boy". This is the biggest steam train ever produced. It weighs more than 500 tons and has 7000 horsepower. "That's too big, it can't turn" you may say. Well, lets take a look...
This model is incredible. Not only does it look accurate, but the fact it takes R-40 curves? That’s a feat of engineering right there. Excellent work!
It's able to take the curves because both sets of drivers swivel instead of just the front set of drivers like on actual big boys. It's basically a combination of a mallet articulated locomotive in appearance, and a meyer articulated locomotive in function.
I’m surprised that it can run on Lego track since legos had some problems in the past making models work “cough” “cough” hogwarts express
Looking accurate? Have you ever seen an Big Boy in real?
@@steffenrosmus9177 its quite accurate ( i watch the real one from TH-cam ) , and this one can be used on Lego tracks so its very good , definitely gonna in my list to buy if this thing become official Lego set
It's beautiful! A truly great Lego model and an equally great train!
What a masterpiece
Thanks champ 💪
@@lassehvidtfeldt8864 Nice work but not one use of the word Locomotive at least you didn't put an S on the end of Lego well done.
@@lassehvidtfeldt8864 If it had a coach or wagon behind
then you can call it a train.
This looks very promising. I'll give my support in ideas. 🚂🚂🚂
Awesome!
Nothing is more majestic than seeing a mighty leviathan of the rails take to LEGO form. Job well done! I would consider buying in a heartbeat!
The amount of detail crammed into such a small Form... Extremely impressive. This reminds me of why I loved Legos so much, to challenge myself to make things function with the odds stacked against you in this small model. Bravo.
I’ve already supported this! Let’s get it to 10,000! Also, it looks AMAZING!
I'm supporting you, this is insane!
Going around that curve it reminds me of race cars letting their back wheels skid to go around a tight curve fast. Nice job!
Lets get this to 10K and let the factorys go nuts because everyone wants this. I want 3 for starters. Hopefully they ad the power up too on the set. I have already a big boy but more is always stronger in numbers
Note:the big boy was the biggest articulated engine but there was an engine bigger, the engine being the prr S1
That would be nice 😁
Bro this is 🔥
This is amazing. I voted on your previous one, and for this one as well. I hope for Lego to pick this up more than ever before. I already have how I'm going to display it figured out. Here's hoping! Keep up the good work!
That is completely awesome
Thanks!
We've got to make sure Hyce sees this masterwork.
Here’s the plan
Reguage the main line to lego gauge
Restore this
Run it on the mainline
I WANT IT!!
PLZ LEGO MAKE THE RIGHT CHOICE
Yes LEGO please!
It's uncanny on bends but absolutely incredible
Nice work on the double gears for the release valve 🎉🎉🎉🎉
I really hope LEGO will do an Icons set on the Big Boy! 🤗🤗🤗🤗💗💗
Absolutely amazing
Its awesome! I'm supporting you again! I was the first time too. I hope Lego passes it this time.
amazing isn't it what you can make with Lego, IT'S JUST LOOKS SO COOL!
He did it. That mad lad actually did it.
Please LEGO! Please make this an actual set! While we're at it can we get more trains?
Look out, Thomas!
That's amazing!
Small Correction: IT was only The Worlds Biggest Steam Locomotive!
Well done for the use of the word Locomotive.
Dat boy has got some swing in his cab.
Mfw this can make typical lego track turns but the official crocodile loco can't. Fantastic build!
Why isn’t this a set!!! We need this!
Fun fact: the Union Pacific "Big Boys" (as of 2024) are not the biggest in the world, neither were they ever the biggest.
Yes it is the biggest operational locomotive in the world. The PRR S1 has it beat in length, and the C&O's H-8 were stronger.
There are more locomotives that out beat the Big Boy, but those two are the main ones.
This will get 10,000 votes. Lego NEEDS to approve this.
Imagin recreating up 4005 acciden.
Nice job man, would it be possible for a more in depth look at the train at some point?
Nice. I think I have a smidgen of an idea how it works too.
This has "Shut up and take my money!" written all over it...
YEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!
C'mon guys, we HAVE to make this a thing. This is everything Childhood me could ever dream about and it's been SO LONG since the Emerald Night was a thing. Let's make this thing a reality and a this hype train worth the wait with megatons of support!
I'm voting on this right now. Thank you.
This should be an official set
WHAT!!?🤩🤩 SO Amazing!!!
Will you do more Union Pacific models, maybe the 844? This is exactly the kind of train set we need. I'm a proud Lego ideas supporter.
It's impressive, unfortunately the tracks are sharp as hell but imagine if the tracks weren't sharp like that?
Even the cilinders is realistic!
gonna need to make another video to get a boost in supporters, we need this to hit 10K!
YES
good idea. but the only thing that triggers me is that the rear part turns too. I guess its hard to do on these thight lego curves
So cool
Very impressive that you got it to work irl!
This better be approved by lego, or else im going to dunk my head in the toilet if it doesnt get approved
Great build but it looks pretty damn big which would make it a hard sell for both consumers and lego.
Beautiful set, I'd love to see how much better it could look in an official set. : )
I generally wish we got more lego trains, more lego steam - and then some american steam. The MOCs I've seen of different american locomotives always looks wonderful, but anything more niche than 4014 I doubt could get support. Maybe someday if I have tons of cash to burn I'll finally make some nice smaller lego steam locos.
the pennsylvania T1 is the biggest but great model!
She looks absolutely gorgeous, I need this under my Christmas tree!
The fact it was mentionned by up in a company newspaper, it should get the companys blessing
Jesus, that overhang! Minimum radius = 56 studs
Words do not exist to express how happy this makes me. If this doesn't make it on to shelves as an official Lego set, I hope you'll sell instructions, because I will be prepared to buy.
everyone support! i need this
The UP big boy was NOT the biggest steam engine ever produced. C&O Alleghenys had 7500 horsepower and weighted 600 tons. They only built 25 "Big Boys" and C&O built 60 "Alleghenys", and even these engines were not the "biggest".
incredible
Nice UP 4014 replica!
You should totally do either UP's Challenger or UP 844!
ROLL ON BIG BOI
Wow! I still don't understand why you won't invest skill and time into a more realistic form of railroad modeling - great work though!
I’m buying 2 so I can have a double engine
Should invest in the aftermarket wider curves. Loco looks amazing
Are you pursuing any other way to distribute the plans? I can't believe this wasn't approved in Lego Ideas. I would love to support your hard work.
Great work! Might want to straighten those curves a little. I would love to but this if it was a set. Very cool
Now build the triplex locomotive out of Legos
wow! would want to buy this if on sale
VEry cool
Im not a fan of American steam and cant afford LEGO on top of all my other hobbies i already have but I'm gonna be PISSED if this doesnt become a real set
I had a little excitement moment when i saw it moving the wheels.
The biggest steam engine in the world is actually the Belgium quadruplex.
Nice!
However, there are already a few established Big Boy MOCs out there, I would be careful with non-original content. Especially morningstrummer's Big Boy is widely known, some elements of it look quite similar.
Actually, this is not the worlds biggest train???? But your LEGO builds are ALWAYS THE BEST 🎉🎉
It is the world's largest operational steam locomotive. That has to count for something.
@@davidguthary8147 yeah you are right. Nice fact! 🙏🏼
Thank you so much 🙏
I want that SO BAD!!!!!!
This is an amazing model if it somehow doesn’t make it into a real set I would love to have it. Are you selling instructions and a parts list at all?
Oh my goodness!!
That boiler is fighting for its life lol
I don't remember simple articulate locomotives turning like this
Well done for the use of the word Locomotive.
@@druunderwood5602 what other word am I supposed to use.
it's not a train.
not a complete one at least
@@shingoshoji2771 I checked the comments, Its clearly not a common word for Lego builders, You maybe the only one on this page that knows what it means.
@@shingoshoji2771 Like i saids well done.
It's already made it to 10.000 supporters!, let's pray that Lego will aprove it...
I think lego rejected it
They didnt😅
this Absolutly stunning, its amazing on how good it looks just like the real big boys, this is art
Okay the fact that it can take those corners is unbelievably perfect
Its too good for lego
*She's beautiful, just like the old times.*
Try making 4449 or 844 next
That's wild, man! Well done.
If by bad luck it doesn't make into ideas, will you please make instructions for it?
I would buy this
Someone take my money i don't care who but i need this.
Must be a nightmare, getting it on track😂
Lego's gonna need for make a bigger curve.
Valve gear is timed wrong, eccentric cranks should be timed 90 degrees behind the connecting rod, its currently timed 90 degrees ahead. Other than that its a really nice model, the valve gear is a nice touch
Its sad it didn't make it
I'd like you try your hand at the Russian AA-20 steam locomotive
I got an EyeHurt 3.0 on that curve
I am so fucking proud of lego.
THEY MADE UP #4014 "Big Boy" INTO LEGO!!
Well, you built more of a Meyer-garrat-Mason thing than a mallet.
I am supporting it and I checked today an it has 7000
The cherry on top would be a Big Boy sticker on the front of the smoke box that imitates the original writing.
VERY well done! I've seen one of these in person at the Green Bay Railroad museum. It's amazing to stand next to it.
Make its boiler explode next
