hi, thank you for the review. there is a better way to attatch the strap. you doube it through the upper and lower slots and across the backside. it will be wy less floppy.
I am considering this for cross country trip on motorcycle. While I will be on main highways, cell coverage in Canada is very limited if I need help like have someone call BCAA etc. Not many drivers will stop and help these days.
I use spot all the time, I have x as well as a Gen3 for a relative to use while out in zero cell coverage areas. Tracking is key to search should a user be unconscious for whatever reason, hence I don’t use the PLB so much. The I AM OK, The mini help me feature as well as full on SOS is great.
Pressing the S.O.S. button will send an alert directly to search and rescue services. The GPS LED on your SPOT will blink green, indicating your message sent. If it blinks red that means no GPS signal was found. You should not touch the spot unit with a barge pole, I have had both the spot X and the others for several adventure trips. Spot don't make any secrets about coverage but let's just say when I needed help the only one that worked for me was the Garmin, it's not worth saving a few bucks get the best which this is not. As for support omg the people at spot and the GPS service are horrible. Say no more.
This company cannot get the billing right, even though they keep raising the prices! If there was a reasonable alternative I would be on it in an instant.
This thing sucks , I had used it about 5 times off roading and man, it was all over the map no where near I was actually at, if I had to depend on this to save my life I’m done, it would probably say I’m 2 county’s away 😂
This is useless it’s cover protecting the sis button failed immediately / broke in two. Made almost of wax!!!! They refused to repair replace or replace the part without a $50 fee!!!! Terrible don’t buy
Be aware that they have an opt out i.e. automatic renewal. So if you don't remember and the notice they provides goes to junk mail then you'll be out of luck and that'll cost you. Before you buy Google "Spot 3 trustpilot" to get reviews. 1.7 stars out of 5 with 75 reviews.
Have you used a SPOT before?
Just picked up mine today, what park is this filmed at , would love to check it out.
Great review and very necessary when hiking in so many parts of Canada.
Does this only send those specific messages, or how would you type a custom message?

Thanks for the review. Very helpful!
Is the communication two way?
Love these things-so important.
How is it if i send a SOS - do i get a response, that someone is coming?

Thanks for the heads up - the coverage map seems pretty extensive though I see the disclaimers.. what's your experience
The same here I could be walking in a straight line and it would say I’m in a other city 😂, horrible
no hooking up to your phone?? no 2 way communication??

It’s not rechargeable??
It uses 4 AAA batteries.
