From the Actual Play shows I follow, I've realised that this one has become the first one I check out, when I have a bit of backlog of episodes. :) Over time, between the experience of the game & the friendships that developed since the adventure started, there's a really fun flow of the show! That was far from a guarantee for a Kickstarter project. 👍 May it last long!
Same for me! I had this episode plus the latest critical role but I watched this then went to the patreon action surge first. Still a huge critter but nat six have certainly become my favourite
This was one of the best so far! Such great world building and Harry's delivery has me feeling as if I am right there, almost like standing in a painting you are also simultaniously watching getting painted. And thank you for that scene in the tavern xD
An exceptionally great episode. The ending was so thrilling and sinister. And Harry has just outdone himself this time. That 'tavern keeper' accent was so hilarious I could not stop laughing and the ad was also very funny. I think you would be able to get enough patreon supporters even without story episodes, just by making these ads. Thank you for the episode and wish you all a very lovely day.
The tavern keeper and the boys is the funniest scene we've had so far. "Can you smell burnt toast?" Had me cackling. The fact that Harry had to bring in another character to swap out was amazing 😭
Holy moly I was laughing out loud at work over this one! Just some random drunk NPC posing as a bar man?? I had to rewind it like 3 times. That was all over the place! Top tier comedy right there.
The whole section on the tavern room and the guy with the insane accent is what d&d is all about. Was absolutely crying with laughter along with you all😂❤ and all for a room you weren't even going to use ! Bloody love this campaign!!
My thoughts on this episode: 1.) It was funny how things went off the rails right away. 2.) The amount of natural 20s was insane 3.) Did everyone forget that druids can wild shape? 4.) I liked Elle behaving like a mom dragging the boys out of the tavern.
2:12:30 "Can you smell burnt toast?" Reminds me of the scene from "What Men Want" where the main character had a car accident and now can read men's minds, she's playing poker with a bunch of guys and Tracy Morgan is playing one of her opponents at the table. He's looking very serious... but when she reads his mind he's thinking "Man, something smells like toast in here. Why do I smell toast? Wait a minute... am I having a stroke? Oh god! Is this how I go out?" Then he puts his hand over his heart and feels something in his breast pocket, pulls out an old piece of toast. "Oh, yeah, I forgot I had this toast in my pocket because I thought I'd need a snack. Man, I love toast." And eats his pocket toast with a big grin on his face. It's kind of a stupid movie, and a remake of an older Mel Gibson movie. But that scene is one of my all time favorite comedy scenes.
Everyone should use the patreon offer this month! There are hours of amazing content on that tier and it's what keeps the show in production. If you love natural six and have the 8 dollars to spare I assure you it's so worth it !!!
Had several favorite moments tonight but this one had me dying. Elly "Radian that's not challenge, dont challenge them to be most interesting, I don't touch anything, Kell don't eat anything with, dont embarrass me." Radian "At some point I need to lick this fish."
Every time I hear about all this weird colored water, I wonder if this whole "shadow will flood" thing is a little more literal than I thought originally. Maybe the shadow is a marine invasion!
I suspect the bright blue water is leaking in from the direction of the Faywilds and the black is coming from the direction of where the Vile incursion is occurring from.
Umm holy crap what an ending!!!!! Like I literally STOPPED....WORKING just to listen/laugh at the last 40 mins of this session OH SO GOOD! TIME FOR ACTION SURGE!
Kobolds actually continuously replace old and worn out teeth throughout their lives. So I can eat all the caramel apples he wants without fear of bad teeth.
Hi Hollie and team, loving this series so far, this ep was especially gripping and sinister! What's the background music that plays as you guys are playing? Wondering if it's available anywhere to check out

Really niche but real funny reference to a non-canon fun time - give yourself a pat on the back Harry
@C_Rose.14 lmao it's ok. Basically Ben actually created The Wasp character in his "Klaaks the broken pebble" patreon podcast (and if was briefly mentioned here and there in AMAs I think). The cast explains it on the action surge for this episode too. It's not needed information or anything but patreon members who listened to the podcast might have realised who The Wasp is just before the reveal that they're the assassin that's after the party!
Funnily I was thinking it would be an interesting idea if you did a calendar, given how great you all always look in the thumbnails on here, to help continue to fund the show. I love how Ben jumps straight to ‘tasteful nudes’. 😂
@@NickClelland247 it's not paywalled lore don't worry. The Wasp is mentioned on a bonus podcast on the patreon but there's no more information on them that wasn't in the episode. We only know that The Wasp is an assassin who kills members of the Web from patreon. So we could have spotted the clues faster but we are now on the same information with non patreon members and with the characters after the episode
Intrusive shower thoughts, but I finally have a chance to write this one down before I forget it... Watching the intro for this episode something strange occurred to me about this campaign. I was just thinking: what if "I" is actually the Kobold god? What if he managed to escape the massacre on the mountaintop, or for some reason decided to go for a walk that day and everyone was already dead when he got back... so he hiked down the mountain right after it happened and is now pretending to be a mortal? The entire story about losing his tribe is sort of like his PTSD interpretation of what happened on the mountain. Instead of his kobold tribe, he was referring to the tribe of gods. And everyone just ASSUMED he meant his tribe of other kobolds. And "I" really does know where the kobolds are living, but chooses not to disclose their location in order to protect them from the REAL god-killers and their scheming. Meanwhile he's traveling to find out who killed the other gods, how they pulled it off, and why... because he was out for a walk that day and so he didn't witness the actual event. So the entire trip to ask people "Where is the kobold god now?" is just a smokescreen he can use to hide his true investigation. His association with the Web gave him access to a wide information network, which he has since abandoned of course, but we don't yet know just how much he learned from them before the team decided to split from the Web. And at the same time, he's having fun learning about culture, etiquette and manners, duty and honor, and the idea of "family" as seen through the lens of mortality. Maybe in an alternate universe this is how the story would go?
"We've found our weird, now we're just rummaging around in it." Perfect summary from Doug 🤣
"At some point, I am going to need to lick this fish." Put that on a T-shirt. 🤣 Team slogan right there.
