      I hope you enjoy it. They seem like a blast. I don't have the money to spare yet but i'm definitely getting one soon for ps2 emulation on the go

    I'm looking forward to the reviews of it! lol. I got the RP3+, it runs pretty hot so that cooling will probably work some wonders. Really dig the analog shoulder buttons since I love my racing games, but trying to imagine playing it with sliders? That's... err... I dunno, also the position, I wonder if it will be comfortable using the analog buttons with the sliders. Really love the custom m1 and m2 buttons, I really miss that from my Odin on the RP3+. I'd get that watermelon version!
    Woulda been great if they had front firing speakers, now that it appears they have plenty of space, also wonder if it has a sensor or something so when you close it, it puts it into sleep mode.
    Anyhoo, looking forward to your review. ^_^
    P.S. Welcome back! ^_^

      Yeah. That’s a win some and lose some thing, right? Racing games with a slider seem ehhh but the analog shoulders seem ahhhh. So the games I want analog shoulders for, I don’t want sliders for. So yeah, I need to try this and have it in my hands.
      And thanks! Happy to be settled and ready to get back into it.

    Thanks for the content. I'm still pretty happy with my RP3+. I'm hoping they release a clam shell design with upgraded specs later on.

      Same. Definitely wouldn't mind a dual screen clamshell with more power later on.

      they always upgrade, I was undecided between the 3+ and the Flip, both great but as an owner of a RP2 already I thought i try the Flip, I hope the screen is good, my main reason to upgrade to be honest from the tiny RP2.

    Great to see you back! I ordered the red one, I didn't know about the software update, that could be interesting...

      I’m definitely excited to try the improved launcher. I love Daijisho but having a better option built in definitely will make the device more accessible to people.

    I'm still setting up my 3+, hoping for that launcher! I'd get a green one if it ever comes available! I'm like #3.

    • @MjolnirStone
      @MjolnirStone  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don’t think there will be real performance differences for the Flip, so really it’s mostly about what form factor you prefer anyway.

    Nice preview! Where are the speakers positioned? And I’m not a fan of slider L3/R3 but cool to see analog L2/R2!

    • @MjolnirStone
      @MjolnirStone  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Right? We get the shoulders we want but lose the proper sticks. I get it though, because if the clamshell design. Proper sticks would have to be recessed and that’s no good anyway.
      Speakers seems to be on the bottom/rear. Also not ideal but I’ve been satisfied with the speakers on my RP3/+.

    it really makes me wish I wouldn't have bought an RP3+, that is the big problem with Retroid there will always be something better a few months later but this one just has so many more features I think it would've been better for their business to mention this was coming before selling the RP3+ cause most people that have one aren't going to buy another handheld with the same chipset

    • @MjolnirStone
      @MjolnirStone  ปีที่แล้ว

      To be fair, the other players in this market (Anbernic) release at least as many systems and some of them barely seem different at all. I think this system may be for people who skipped RP3+ entirely.

      @@RetroJay48 it gave me three option, to pay outright, to pay with Paypal credit card (not interested😃) or to pay in three installments, which 8s what I did. I guess it depends on the volume of traffic you have with Paypal. You can ask them if you have that option.

    We need a 6 button model more than a dual screen.

    • @MjolnirStone
      @MjolnirStone  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh yeah, 6 face buttons would be a dream come true. Even if they just duplicate L1/R1 on the face.

    I think I'll pass on this one. I'm not really a fan of the slider sticks, nor of the clamshell design in general. I'd be willing to put that aside if it had a better chip in it than the RP3+, but the fact that it doesn't will probably turn a lot of RP3+ owners away from this device, and to me at least, the analog triggers wouldn't matter with the way GameCube and up emulation on the RP3+ performs. I think Retroid is experimenting with devices like this (which, really, I would just call gimmick variations of the RP3+) because if they made anything that had better capabilities, it would be competing in both price and performance with something like the AYN Odin or Odin Pro (which I am considering getting eventually if Retroid doesn't come up with something more powerful), which they may for some reason want to avoid - don't poke the sleeping bear I guess, that or Retroid may want to stick to their name and create devices that only emulate retro games. I'm holding out hope for an RP4 that keeps a similar design and size to the RP3/+ and has better performance in GameCube, PS2, and 3DS. The new launcher design seems cool at least.
