Superb historical video. Many thanks for capturing this and uploading. It looks like Castlemungret, then Adare (at 0:16). The double track station at 0:51 looks like Ballingrane Junction (which was where the branch line to Foynes, diverged from the North Kerry Line). 1:01 is the junction with two tracks curving towards Rathkeale, and the single track to right being the line to Foynes. 1:10 is at the same junction, but looking back towards Limerick. I presume the station at 1:13 is Rathkeale ? The Irish Traction Group's "Flying Pig railtour" on the 7th October 1995 went from Limerick to Foynes, but by then Ballingrane Junction was singled and the rest of the North Kerry Line was lifted, and the junction plain lined. On that tour, Baby GM number 190 reached Foynes.

Thanks for taking the time to record all this squandered transport infrastructure for that's what is is and not just "auld railway tracks" to some people. Very sad really.

It's a discrace to see all of these railway lines all closed down. Could be useful for vintage trains. No brains no vision

It's a shame these old stations are in ruins and closed down the green party in banging on about two many petrol and diesel cars on the road why don't they open up these old train stations then people might go on there holidays locally I can still remember everybody in our estate in Tralee used to go to remit once a year it was fantastic Inmadgine if we still had the line to single and south Kerry I believe it would make people think twice about going abroad there are some lovely old bridges around our county and it would make people take a train instead of the car plus this was people's way of coming to the towns and visa versa never should have closed these old stations

Even closed railway lines in county Kerry should be reopened.

fantastic footage, its a pity to see the old lines gone, even the castlemungret cement line is gone now, they tared over the level crossings at rosbrien, but was there talk of opening the foynes line again i think?

The Foynes railway reopening is likely to happen. 10 years after you commented.

Yes thats no problem, A simpler way is to use a piece of free software called "Freemake Video Converter" which will allow you to download it onto your hard drive and from there on to disc. However if you do want me to put it on to disc contact me again.
