The scene in the apartment when Peter’s spidey senses go off is one of the best in the MCU in my opinion. He knows that one of the villains is about to turn on him, but he doesn’t know who. He also knows May is in danger which sets him off. As soon as he realizes it’s Norman he immediately shoots webs at him. No hesitation, just trying to diffuse the threat. To top it off, it sets up the AMAZING fight between Peter and Norman.

The part where Andrew saves MJ is amazing. It’s a perfect Spider-Man moment because he didn’t think twice about trying to save MJ even though he had failed at saving Gwen. The worst thing he had ever experienced wasn’t enough to stop him from trying again. And he succeeded. It was my favorite part

It might just be me, particularly because I don't know the first two Spider-Man series as well anymore, but Sandman kind of confused me a bit. He was all good at first, helping, then he wanted to be cured to go back to his daughter, but then it feels like he kind of switched too easily without all that much convincing? And then there's The Lizard, which I know wasn't super fleshed out (also I hardly remember anything about him), but I ended up questioning a few things (again, mostly in a "evidently I'm forgetting something" kind of way). Why exactly was he left in the van? And I get he wasn't really up for being "cured" but I felt like there was just a tiny bit missing somewhere with him (aside from "he bad", but again that's probably mostly just on me).
As for what the guys were saying about people who haven't seen the first two Spider-Man series, I think they'd be confused some, or just kind of have to take things as they come like "okay, that's how that is", not enough explanation for some things. Like, granted I can't remember them very well, but still I _have_ seen them yet I felt a bit left behind with what's going on with Green Goblin. I can more or less piece together what I "think" was his deal, but like the the switching, father-son stuff, dark side was like... information but not exactly explanation/understanding. So people without a clue just kind of have to take it at face value and not feel like they need a huge understanding because they know there are so many villains going on.

Andrew had his redemption with saving MJ, but I think Toby's redemption is preventing Tom from succumbing to his anger and killing the murder of his aunt. Because if I remember correctly, after Uncle Ben is killed, Toby chases the robber in hopes of retaliation and lets him die (not killing him directly) when he falls out of the window.

I really loved how the marketing of this movie was handled. The trailers showed off the villains from the other movies,, but not the other spidermans. The inclusion of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield was so heavily rumored and leaked beforehand and the inclusion of the other villains supported it so everyone was 98% sure that they were going to be in it, but it was never fully confirmed. So everyone still went to watch the movie to see the other spidermans, but had that very small doubt that they weren't going to be in it. Which made their entrance so much more exciting to see. In addition to that, that made my theater experience watching it the best experience I have ever had in a theater. Everyone was just a massive fan being respectful to everyone else watching, but was also incredibly excited while cheering a lot for the best parts.

    • @brittn2410
      @brittn2410 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

Exactly. The reason I think they could fund tech cures is that most of the old spider-man villains are good people tech gone wrong stories. Tech from the other universes backfiring and creating monsters. Most aren’t villains because they want to be, their villains because freak accidents happened. Tom Peter realized that, and they even showed that they never were truly all bad in that they willingly went with Tom Peter after he showed that he was unwilling to send them back if that would kill them. They’re not villains like Mysterio who choose to be bad.
It’s not far fetched to think that if a freak tech accident caused a problem that a freak tech miracle could solve it.

Doc Ock simply needed a new chip to control the arms and they were 20 years ahead of Spiderman 2 and were in a universe with far superior tech (Stark tech). Electro simply had his electricity zapped out of him. Sandman is the only one that they came up with on the spot really.

One thing I’m curious about is how messed up those other universes will be now that the Peters cured all those villains? What will have changed? For instance, in the Raimi universe Harry now has no reason for a vengeance plot against Spider-Man. No dead dad means a happy Harry. Now there’s no guarantee that Dr. Octopus would even end up existing without Harry taking control of the company. Could those situations have anything to do with the shattering of the multiverse?

I think Raimi's movies still happened (all Spiderman movies are now officially canon, lol), but this is now a splinter from that universe. There's now another splinter jutting off from Doc Oc being cured, and another one from Sandman being cured... So Tobey's Spiderman now exists in four distinct universes. Tobey's Spiderman will go back to the universe, though, that we're familiar with from the movies.
That seems to be how time travel works in the MCU: Changes made only create new universes- they don't alter existing ones.

Something that another reviewer brought up that I didn’t even notice until he said it is- this movie feels a lot more in line with the Raimi trilogy. It’s not as dark and gritty as the Amazing Duology, but it still treats itself seriously and has direct consequences for actions. And I think the big thing about that is the fact that this /is/ the MCU Pete’s origin story. That’s why the origin was skipped- every movie Peter was in was building up to his true and complete origin here. He truly became his own Spider-Man at the end.

With regards to your observations regarding the Multiverse at the end: Westview plot takes place 6 weeks after Endgame, Spiderman about a year later, so they are not simultanious events. If you look on the Timeline order playlist on Disney Plus, Loki comes immediately after Endgame (since SM-FFH is on Netflix) then What If, then WandaVision. Loki (or more specificaly Sylvie) were was the one to enable Multiverse to exist in the way it will be used going forward. The single line of the Secred Timeline breaking off into millions of paths. Some say that was the moment Wanda heard her sons in the post credit scene but the creators denied syncing that on purpose, so... Then What If showed of what this new order meant for the MCU with its alternative character arcs. I think all the Covid delays did mess with their orginal intended order, but everything will slot into place again as we go along. But the reason other Peters and their Villans existed to cross over, is Loki and Sylvie. Timeline is a loop, so when it "exploded", alternative, fleshed out worlds were created from the begonning of time like they have always been there...

I also told her that Far From Home left off with Peters's identity revealed and a little bit about Dr. Strange and his powers but other than that she got it just fine. This is my new favourite MCU movie (even if it did cause 2 straight days of emotional instability 😅)

The one thing that I was specifically left wondering was, does Ned have any recollection of the magic potential he discovered?
After all, his friendship with MJ is a direct result of his friendship with Peter, and yet they're still friends - they don't remember Peter, but the past wasn't changed.
What do they think about the disaster that just blew through New York, and do they know they were involved?

Peter should’ve said, “can you make people forget Mysterio and everything he said?”

One of my favorite scenes is when Holland's Spidey senses tingle and at first he isn't sure who is the actual threat because he is legit in a room FULL of villains. Then he focuses it and realizes the true threat is Dr. Osborne.

HIGE POINT MISSED: During Dr. Strange, the Scorcer Supreme and himself are talking after she died and it’s the same line that Peter used while asking for help. I believe that’s why he was so willing to help. Idk what do you guys think! 🤚🏽

"It's not about me, it's about them." from Peter. Sorcerer Supreme told Strange, "It's not about YOU, it's about THEM."

The symbiote gets left behind, because when a piece of the symbiote splits off, it becomes its own creature, so it was born in that universe, therefore belongs to that universe.
About the cures: They were working on them the entire time they were at Happy's apartment, they were using Tony's synthetic mechine, and then electro broke them when he decided he wanted to stay Electro, they were at the lab fixing them, they already had all the pieces.

It’s just so good. Like I literally can’t say anything more. It’s incredible and possibly my favorite MCU film of all time. I saw it twice within 24 hours. It makes you laugh, it makes you cry. And in my opinion, the best thing is that it’s not just fan service. All the characters, like the 5 villains, that we have already been introduced to have their own arcs. They’re not just their to satisfy the fans. There is a point to their existence. Also, I’ve been waiting for your review since I saw the film on opening night and you did not disappoint! I love these reviews!

Best little detail I found in the movie was at the end in the donutshop. MJ was wearing the necklace Peter gave her in far from home, signaling that in some way she was still connected to him. I know it doesn't really make sense considering how the spell seems to have worked, but it gave a sad moment a bit more layers and hope.
Also I can confirm that this movie still works for people that have not seen the previous Spider-Man movies. I went with a friend of mine who apparently had not seen the Maguire and Garfield movies or at least he didn't recognize them, because he asked me if they where the previous Spider-Men and he really enjoyed the movie.
Edit: I honestly hope they wil cast Nadji Jeter (Miles from the games), he is about the same age as Tom Holland so maybe too old, but I really like his depiction of Miles; not as much as Shameik Moore's version but I digress.
