That's the other aspect of the X-Files that we fans were obviously excited about other than the conspiracies and the monters-of-week... they really look good together and has a chemistry since day one. And I really do think the romance is there even after the show ended.

I don't think you can ever doubt that they were in love and that they would make a lovely couple, but evidently, for whatever reason, Gillian decided to leave the show and cut her ties with David at least publicly. Whether she keeps in touch privately is unknown and we don't know, but they were in love. I don't know if it was ever acted on or ever said out loud between them, but it was there. In a few years, Gillian might wish she hadn't closed the door entirely on "The X Files" and she might want to do more depending on how well her career post the show goes. However, it is totally her right to do as she wishes with her life and pursue other work. My feeling is that we might see her and David reunite one day on-screen. That being said, after knowing each other for twenty something years there will probably never be a real life romance between them. Like I said, there are definitely feelings there that looked pretty intense and given the amount of time they had to spend together it's hard to believe they wouldn't act on them. However, it's possible they didn't and even in the years when both were single and some fans felt they might be having a relationship secretly it was never made public by them. Gillian and David have since moved onto other relationships so I don't think they'll ever be a real life couple, but you can't deny their chemistry on and off screen is something special.

I have always tried so hard to stay away from the DD + GA thing, mainly because I am an old prude I guess, and when David was married an Gillian was otherwise spoken for at whatever point, I just couldn't do it. ( Now, Mulder and Scully...that's a whole different universe. I am a hopelessly, incurable shipper!)But...now that they -DD and GA- are both "free" and the greatest of shows is back!!!!! I mean, she mencioned there was a frienship attraction, but this is not neccesary sexual attraction, maybe she was trying to say there was rapport between them but not romantic feelings, do you think all is about that or there is something else according interviwes?
Liz Kremer she specifically mentioned that there were more then friendly attraction, but that it would 'never happen'. Obviously they have a long and complicated relationship that we don't fully know the details of. But I wouldn't say that a future romantic relationship between the two would be off the table.
"I am not going to risk losing you". Maybe that is the point. Too much to lose. Anyway, I hope they remain the incredible ande genuine frienship that has united them through the years because it´s inspiring and the other world.
