Love the little mice, so adorable. Nice variety of birds and animals. Thank you for feeding the wildlife. They need our help in this overcrowded world.
We loved that little mouse too! We couldn’t believe at how many different species of wildlife showed up not only once, but many times to enjoy the treat! This one was more popular than we thought it would be!
Healthy, happy animals, they know where their bread is buttered 🎉 thank you for these videos, these should be projected onto huge screens in the cities and towns, this is what the people want to see. Love from Wales 🏴
Thank you so much for your wonderful comment! Maybe that can happen some day! We would love to continue to spread the joy and peace of wildlife viewing! Until then, please consider subscribing to support the channel!
We’re glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching! We were blown away at how many different species of wildlife came back not once, but multiple times to enjoy the salt and molasses!
I love the idea of some deer approaching this confusingly-shaped dark black monolith in the middle of the forest, going up to it cautiously, smelling it and being like "holy shit, I can lick this!"
I mixed in cranberries with deer corn and Big Tine for Thanksgiving. We had 6 deer in our back yard! I live in the suburbs, with some woodsy areas around. It was a huge hit with the squirrels too! ❤
That’s wonderful to hear! Thank you for sharing, we’re glad the big tine and other mixtures worked out well for you and were popular with your local wildlife! They sure will enjoy it and will enjoy your generosity!
That tiny mouse was so cute. My uncles and cousins used to use a drill press and put several large holes in the top of the salt block just 3/4 down and then raid my granny’s backing cab😮for molasses. They would pout it on the top of the block and let it soak down. Provides wildlife with much needed minerals and the molasses encourages all the wildlife to lick and get vital sugars as well. The ran will wash the molasses off, so that’s why we still use the drill technique at our house.
My grandfather put stock salt on a tree stump for over a decade, which was also decades ago now. The stump was chewed away and there is now a twenty foot or bigger hole at least a foot deep there!
They are so great! The mice are such a welcomed sight to see! These feed piles probably help fill up their food storages for many months! Thanks for watching!
Dry dog food is healthier, cat food is to high in protein, most animal food has a dog food profile, it has a better balance of carbs, veggies and protein that doesn’t upset the systems
A little surprised some other furry critters didn't find the salt lick...skunks, opossum, porcupines, fox, and others would love a lick of salt on occasion...
Great question, and thanks for watching! It all absorbed into the block or ran off onto the ground around the block! If you noticed a few times the animals would be licking or digging at the base of the block, they were getting at the run off! Great question!
Thank you for watching and you are spot on with your assumption! The blocks are designed with a small bowl in the center to collect rain water and moisture over time and give the wildlife a spot to drink the water from!
Looks like the molasses is the real winner. I use Trace Mineral blocks and split them in half. Put them out in late may and in about 2.5 months it was gone and there was a hole in the ground a foot deep and about 3 feet round.
To this point, we have not yet put something out that some wildlife will not eat. If differs which type of wildlife as some birds or critters like some foods more than others, but at least some wildlife have enjoyed each one! Thanks for watching and great question!
Thank you for watching and for your concern! In the county we are located in, and the state, it is legal to have out feed piles and salt and mineral blocks for wildlife as long as the property is not being hunted on during season, which ours is not. Thanks again for your concern and for watching!
All animals need salt, and they may get it from water deposits, licking rocks, certain plants or, in this case, a salt lick, which is just basically a big block of salt
Most horses are given salt bocks indeed salt is essential to all animals, I was born to a family who bred horses. Salt is essential in the summer Replace sweat amongst other things , winter encourages them to drink so as not to be dehydrated….. I am not an expert, but I’m sure you can Google and it will explain
Interesting that the google earth opening screen shots show northern Minnesota where baiting deer is not permitted. But you’re not hunting over this area nor any trails leading to it are you? Of course not. Silly me.

How did the mouse get up (a hidden ladder)? Down, no problems.
@ They can climb very well.
We loved that little mouse too! We couldn’t believe at how many different species of wildlife showed up not only once, but many times to enjoy the treat! This one was more popular than we thought it would be!
Notice the deer stopped licking from the center of the top after the mice was there? It's because mice urineat where they eat.
@@TheGoodguy68interesting. looks like the other animals were not as discerning lol
Sweet group of critters. Love seeing bunnies joining in.
We did too! We loved seeing all the various wildlife that showed up to this experiment and they kept coming back for more!
Salty and sweet, the perfect treat!
It is the perfect combo! Thanks for watching!
Yay!! I’ve been waiting for this since you hinted at it!

That was great and fun to see the squirrels keep coming back. Thanks for sharing.
We’re glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching! We were blown away at how many different species of wildlife came back not once, but multiple times to enjoy the salt and molasses!
Always fun to see who will show up to check out what's on the menu!
It sure is! We couldn’t believe all the different visitors that showed up to this one! Did any surprise you?
Thanks!
Thank you! We greatly appreciate your continued support for our channel and the wildlife!
I love the idea of some deer approaching this confusingly-shaped dark black monolith in the middle of the forest, going up to it cautiously, smelling it and being like "holy shit, I can lick this!"
Those deer are regulars! The mice are adorable and the birds are really gorgeous
We couldn’t have said it any better ourselves! Thanks for watching!

I love seeing little forest creatures just as much as the big ones❤
Isn't it great?! Treats for wildlife of all sizes! All are welcome to enjoy the feast! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for sharing these beautiful videos. I miss camping
It is our pleasure! Thank you for continuing to watch!
You might try drilling holes in top and sides before pouring molasses to create more reservoirs. Maybe use different size bits.🤔

Impressive!

Love the mice and their tiny. little hops, so cute ❤️ and bunnies as well.. Those deer show up for almost everything!❤️
They are so great! The mice are such a welcomed sight to see! These feed piles probably help fill up their food storages for many months! Thanks for watching!
Wasn't expecting quite so many small animals!
I just love the little mice!!❤ thanks again for the great videos
They looked like animated movie characters!!!
Awesome footage, thanks for sharing ❤ 👍 👍
Looks like the first rain washed away all molasses and basically this reverted to a standard salt block.
I loved seeing the grouse pass through or by.
Also, this salt lick attracted many more mice and more regularly.
Wasn't that great to see the grouse? They are so stealthy as they move around the forest! Thanks for watching!
Put out a couple big bags of dry cat food . I do that in my suburban area and get so many different animals. Everything loves dry cat food
Beet pulp
I put out dry dog food. I feed raccoons, opossums, and skunks every night.
Of friend of mine puts out cat food for the deer.😊
Except my cat
Dry dog food is healthier, cat food is to high in protein, most animal food has a dog food profile, it has a better balance of carbs, veggies and protein that doesn’t upset the systems
Sweet and salty! My fav!
It sure is! The perfect combo! Thanks for watching!
Never realized squirrels like salt blocks wow
They certainly do! Thanks for watching!
A little surprised some other furry critters didn't find the salt lick...skunks, opossum, porcupines, fox, and others would love a lick of salt on occasion...
Yum! Tastes like grandma's cookies!
It sure does! Nice and sweet and maybe a little salty! HAHA! Thanks for watching!
Block of salt was quite the hit with a variety 😃
It sure was! We were amazed at the variety of wildlife showed up and even came back multiple times for more! Thanks for watching!
Those deer found a block of candy. :D They looked less enthusiastic once the molasses was gone.
They sure did! We couldn’t believe how many different species of wildlife showed up not once, but multiple times to enjoy! Thanks for watching!
It looks delicious 😋
I'm hoping for a hot fudge sundae or pancakes with hot molasses
Molasses cookies! Yummy.
Deers says "oh this is such a treat " "hope its not a trap yum yum!"
😂 love how it jumps around alot😢
It sure does! Thanks for watching!
Awwwwww those tiny mice 🩷
Aren’t they great?! Thanks for watching!
…truly rewarding…creatures and all…thank you…
what happened to all the molasses? one minute its completely covered the next its only in scoop out on top?
Did it absorb in?
Great question, and thanks for watching! It all absorbed into the block or ran off onto the ground around the block! If you noticed a few times the animals would be licking or digging at the base of the block, they were getting at the run off! Great question!
I was wondering that too
Rain
Sweet and salty..... Mmmmmmmm!
Deer: mlem mlem mlem mlem
Those deer are in really great shape.
We noticed that too! Which is GREAT as they are getting ready to head into the harsh winter months!
A bag of sweet feed would be interesting to see what it attracts. Would also help some animals bulk up with winter coming.
Wonderful creatures of God's creations...I just love that mouse
Wasn’t the mouse great?! We were blown away at all the various species that showed up not only once, but multiple times! Thanks for watching!
I would think a mineral lick would work better. I always see the whitetail in my area going for those.
2001: a woodland odyssey
I’m curious to know if the center fills with water and animals are drinking it?
Thank you for watching and you are spot on with your assumption! The blocks are designed with a small bowl in the center to collect rain water and moisture over time and give the wildlife a spot to drink the water from!
I'm surprised more deer hadn't shown up sooner.
Looks like crude oil! Does it soak into the block?
During hunting season?
Okay, but next time place a molasses treat block next to the salt block to see what is attracted to each specifically!
It would be interesting to find out!
Looks like the molasses is the real winner. I use Trace Mineral blocks and split them in half. Put them out in late may and in about 2.5 months it was gone and there was a hole in the ground a foot deep and about 3 feet round.
That was one fat racoon.
how do I be a fat raccoon
He's not fat, he's fluffy! 😊
What was that at 8:38
Thanks for your question! The animal seen at 8:38 is a called a “Ruffed” Grouse! Aren’t they stealthy and camouflaged?!
If you drill holes in the top then pour the molasses, it will seep down into the holes and permeate the block more.
Thank you for the suggestion and idea! That’s a great idea and we will definitely be trying that in the future! Thanks for watching!
Next time put it on a big cookie sheet or boot tray so you don't lose as much of the molasses.
Drill half inch holes on the top so it can fill up
Thank you for the idea! We will absolutely be doing this in the future! Thanks for the suggestion and for watching!
Yummy they love it🎉
That was a bigazz rabbit! Hare?
It sure was! Yes, it was a snowshoe hare! Thanks for watching!
Are ants not an issue where you are?
Too late in the year. They are all snug in their anthills for the winter.
That doe licking on the buttons on that young buck was interesting
Wasn't that neat to see? We thought that was so cool when we initially saw that clip! Thanks for watching!
Where are you located?
I personally don't think the saltlick did what you possibly were thinking it was going to do
Hey, I thought there was supposed to be some mole asses here!
😂
😂😂
Have you ever put out something that the wildlife will not eat?
To this point, we have not yet put something out that some wildlife will not eat. If differs which type of wildlife as some birds or critters like some foods more than others, but at least some wildlife have enjoyed each one! Thanks for watching and great question!
Are you editing out the animals that become food for birds of prey?
Kind of your version of salted caramels. Very food trendy of you.
Deer will hit the mineral lick even more when the bucks are growing antlers and the does are pregnant. Give this a try midsummer.
Thank you for the suggestion, we most definitely will! Thanks for watching!
Maybe a Protein block next time. It would be more interesting.
In my state it against the law to bait for animals. Hope Noone knows where this is.
Thank you for watching and for your concern! In the county we are located in, and the state, it is legal to have out feed piles and salt and mineral blocks for wildlife as long as the property is not being hunted on during season, which ours is not. Thanks again for your concern and for watching!
Deer salt licking ASMR 9:13 🦌
looks like motor oil
I'm watching from the UK. What on earth is a "Salt Lick!" Explanation might help????
All animals need salt, and they may get it from water deposits, licking rocks, certain plants or, in this case, a salt lick, which is just basically a big block of salt
What francielenao said only sometimes specific trace minerals and vitamins are added, especially for horses.
I thought that was a 3d printer
😂
No bucks
Doesn’t this contribute to sharing germs and bacteria?
Now that poor doe has diabetes and high blood pressure!
I would have liked to see longer moments with the raccoon and rabbits, at least of them leaving the scene.
The anaimals need minerals and or mineral lick for reproductive organs
❤️
Thank you for watching! We’re glad you enjoyed the video!
Thought they’d gifor the salt. Looks like it the molasses:
Why do animals love salt?
They need it same as humans for minerals
Makes the burgers they’re eating off camera 🍔 taste better!😂
🥰😍
Thank you for watching! We hope you enjoyed!
I've never tasted molasses, but salty molasses? Yuck.
put a salt lick on a hardwood stump and let it soak into the stump.
Great idea! We will have to try that in the future! Thanks for watching and for the suggestion!
Interesting that the google earth opening screen shots show northern Minnesota where baiting deer is not permitted. But you’re not hunting over this area nor any trails leading to it are you? Of course not. Silly me.
Oh how sad. People use that to hunt?
Not legal to hunt over bait most places. If people put it out they’ve decided they won’t hunt there.
I do not recommend doing this. Great way to spread disease, especially in areas where CWD in deers is prevalent.
Haha, clearly the carnivores get their salt from the herbivores....
THANK YOU FRIENDS
