Best way to repair any BMW front suspension in my experience is change the whole corner for a complete undamaged item, you will chase your tail as you will find alot more damage to parts that actually look ok. Its always impossible to tell looking at them. Usually you find this out at alignment time. There is no profit to be had in repairing salvage like this. You will find once your finished you could of bought a straight one for the same money. There is only one winner buying from Copart & that is Copart themselves, every time. Been at this job for 40 yrs & the salvage job is waste of time now.
I'm in agreement minus one option you missed. There's probably plenty of money to be made breaking this car. It'd be a shame to if it's savable, but in terms of the smartest option financially (well apart from not buying it in this first place lol) it makes the most sense.
We repaired a M2 that had a crash, massive money in parts. All the ducts and trims added up to a fortune. He ended up fitting carbon fibre wings as they were cheaper!
That looks like it's spun and 'reverse entried' into something, whatever they hit probably fell onto the roof. Since there doesn't seem to be any damage to the paint finish I don't think it's rolled at all
My thoughts exactly, probably ended up in a ditch when you look at the tailpipe damage and mud that had to be removed from them. Agree on the roof too, some pretty hefty stuff growing in hedgerow’s.
yep, say someone having a bit of a "driftking" moment, lost control as they had no idea, span out, front corner impact first, then side and reversed entried into say hitting a sign post or something? That then fell onto the roof?
Having been involved in trying to get a Group A Escort Cosworth rally car onto a trailer after it hit a heavy steel gatepost on a rally stage at Weeton Army barracks, which ripped off the entire left front strut, we put a trolley jack under the chassis leg on the left hand side and managed to drive the car on with only 3 corners. A wheel skate with castors under your left front wheel would have done a similar job. Might even have steered.
Ouch! I'd say it's been spun (hitting a few things along the way) and then gone backwards into a muddy ditch, looking at the state of the exhaust etc. Let's hope it's not too battered underneath.......
You pick the most amazing project cars...as Phil Collins once sang in the 1980's...your cars are "Against All Odds". Makes for Excellent viewing. Thanks
Excited for the content of this one. The panels are going to be a challenge to source. Your dry smile said it all as the plastic crunched and the metal creaked. Brave man! Brilliant channel.👍
Looks to have option packs M2C Sport Comfort Pack (£1,800) -Electric Front Seats with Driver Memory -Heated Front Seats -Reverse Camera -Wireless Charging -Comfort Keyless Access -Exterior Folding Mirrors M2C Plus Pack (£1,485) -BMW ICON adaptive LED Headlights -19" Black Bi-Colour 788M Alloys Wheels -Harmon Kardon -Sun Protection Glass
Just a thought, it looks very similar damage to the Range Rover that Salvage Rebuilds UK are doing at the moment and that was TPAC’d - front, back and drivers side but the passenger side is OK
Looks like a competition between Matt Armstrong as to who can buy the car with the worst damage. At least it looks like you don’t have to change out the dash. Interesting rebuild and good luck.
Certainly looks like you enjoy a challenge Dean 🤣 but from first glance this could be an interesting rebuild IF the parts are available and not too expensive.
To my ear that car is suffering from the exhaust camshaft misalignment issue common on the M2C - you can really hear it on this when the engine started and the tapping sound sped up with the engine…
Another channel had one of these that was to badly damaged and apparently parts are hard to get it worth more in parts either way good luck with it love your channel..
It may be possible that rather than a rollover, something may have fallen on the roof, a tree or maybe something else, rollovers tend to damage the entire roof and usually windscreens and rear windows get smashed.
I have a Z4 and I find it totally stupid that you have to run the engine to check the oil.... if you haven't got any then it takes 15 minutes running to tell you that, by which time you've nicely toasted the engine.... FFS sometimes just a stick (i.e. dipstick) is the easiest option.
I don't think that the badge was scratched😅 You've got your work cut out there. It'll be interesting. Do you think something could have fallen on the roof? If it had rolled wouldn't the damage be more across the roof?
Roof damage may have been from the lamp post the car clipped. Them LED lamps are made out of metal, are heavy and often break off when hit, mud in tail pipes!! car towed backwards out of ditch 🙂
I am going with track day crash. Spin on wet grass with long slow slide down tyre wall and then possibly had the barrier land on the roof. No air bags must have been a "soft" crash imho. If it had hit anything hard there would be a lot more paint missing. If it had gone in a ditch there would be a lot more grass and mud. Its certainly a weird one.
Great car and hopefully restored to as-new. I don't think it's rolled as the highest point of the roof is untouched, as is the shark-fin aerial. Maybe caught a tree-branch on its way backwards into a ditch. I seem to remember there were not many options (less than a handful) available on these so most of it is standard. M2 aficionados / owners will correct me. Can't wait for more!
Tend to lose door mirrors when cars are rolled. Looks like something dropped onto the roof. If the roof lines haven't shifted has the steel stretched? Carbon roof time?
Looks like an immense challenge and I’m anticipating quite an eventful strip down. I winced as you kicked and pulled the pieces clear of the offside wheel …
Good luck with the M2 !! you’re going to need it I’m afraid ..engine sounds in need of attention could be real issue.. you’ve mentioned having issues finding used parts another big factor to consider. The roof looks like concern to me ..it’s stacking up could well be money pit
Yeah I'm sure I heard it knocking on the second start up. I'd get the oil and filter out asap to have a look for "glitter" before investing any serious money in it.
Mmm I think it’s been ditched ultimately coming to rest on its drivers side and folding the roof? Nothing structural then it’s a major strip of all the many many broken bits and a rebuild as and when bits become available? Dare I say it possible not so much of a horror as it seems when taken apart🤞🤞🤞🚗🚗❤️ another cool project👍👍👍
Not for the faint hearted Dean! Parts cost and availability the main issue. Amazed that no air bags deployed! It will be great content, but your bank balance is going to be stressed mate 😢
This will be an interesting build, considering that the spare parts are scarce. For me it doesn't ring a roll over. Looks like it came from a muddy ditch though 🤔. Can't wait for the build.
Personally not a beemer fan, I’ll watch for the rebuild though. For me it doesn’t scream rolled, I’d expect more grass/mud and also not a lot of road rash. Also I didn’t see curtain bags blown. Keep up the good work 👌
I think if it had rolled there would be more glass damage and the mirror would be off, ill guess its hit the verge then went backwards through a hege or roadsign!
No airbags deployed?? Most things on this one is standard except the gear box, manual is standard. But it looks scary. I doubt it overturned., the damage is so weird.
looks like you might have lucked out with this one. most of it looks like it's just replace parts. I was surprised when you said the sub frame wasn't damaged.
That looks like its slid off a road into a ditch and tipped up on its side, hence the roof damage against a tree or similar. Good luck, going to be a challenging build!
Been through a hedge plain n simple back wards side ways who knows haha got to be a breaker tho surely, nice car but can't see that being a strait car ever again
That static camera from your garage, and than a BMW goes into view all messed up with klonka klonka engine made me LOL. 15:17 You should have started video like that.
Cheers Dean, could always try and find out where and when the vehicle “crashed” and maybe speak to local fire service as I’m pretty sure we would have turned out to this, cheers Jason🚒👍👍
Good luck on this one!! That's looks like a bit of a challenge but I reckon something has fallen on the roof, possibly. Looking forward to see this get underway!
Just a bit of panel damage 🤣🤣🤣🤣 does nothing ever faze you, surely Dean this is going to cost a small fortune to get it to its former glory, but if anyone can do it you can, it’s going to be a good series this
Should be a good build but the damage is weird. Part of me thinks the car was parked as the airbag never went off but then that does not explain the mud also the roof damage is odd cause the c pillar does not look out of shape yet that roof is in
Engine sounds like bottom end clattering, oil cooler missing is bit of a red flag. Need to inspect shells first before you spend time and money on the rest of it
Looks like it's gone into a ditch sideways at some speed and someone probably lost it on a bend, hence the mud and front and rear damage and pushed the roof in
Rear wheel drive, I'd say spun into a ditch. That door glass close might be a worry, if the roofs moved? Lets see what awaits you underneath! Nice buy for the Channel
I bought the cheapest VW up! in my region, considering that the car is well maintained with just 101.000 km. It has hail damage and in general the paint is quite battered... I always lovingly refer to it as the shabbiest up! in Germany. But the car serves its purpose and is incredibly cheap to run, also because it has no features, let alone air conditioning. I even think that the dents from the hail damage make the car a bit more aerodynamic, would explain the good fuel economy. I’ve restored a written-off Z4 and an X3 before, and these BMWs always end up costing more to fix than you think! If you’re willing to keep the car then it’s “worth it” as it’s cheaper than buying an undamaged one, but I wouldn’t expect much profit in selling it on. The write-off history always puts buyers off (even though it shouldn’t really make a difference if the car is restored properly, in my view). I always found panels to be cheap to source but stuff like headlights are ridiculously expensive. The airbag units are usually expensive as well (unless you can find reconditioned ones). I don’t think this has rolled but wherever it landed, something like an overhanging hedge or branch has pushed down the roof on impact maybe? Hard to tell without seeing the car in the flesh.
I've been wanting a *2 series* for a long while but I've got to say the *M series* cars are so much better looking this was a good buy looking forward to this rebuild 👏
An odd mixture of damage, the roof looks almost as though it was pushed in by something smooth and padded. The mud and other problems, no blown airbags, very odd. Was it malicious damage? Looking at it, I hope it was cheap, fixing it may not be, good luck, I fear you might be in need of a large quantity of that rare commodity. The last time I had a BMW was in the early 1970s, I did not go there again.
The fact there isn't many parts available for sale yells me it's worth more in bits
Maybe not one of your better buys Dean, you must have a very understanding wife that's all I can think of.
Best way to repair any BMW front suspension in my experience is change the whole corner for a complete undamaged item, you will chase your tail as you will find alot more damage to parts that actually look ok. You're forgetting about the TH-cam revenue. This rebuild would be 20+ videos and the content would make the car repair almost free.
Salvage rebuilds uk seem to make a decent living out of damaged repairable but they are a lot more experienced than most.
We repaired a M2 that had a crash, massive money in parts. All the ducts and trims added up to a fortune. He ended up fitting carbon fibre wings as they were cheaper!
That looks like it's spun and 'reverse entried' into something, whatever they hit probably fell onto the roof. Since there doesn't seem to be any damage to the paint finish I don't think it's rolled at all
I agree with this theory
My thoughts exactly, probably ended up in a ditch when you look at the tailpipe damage and mud that had to be removed from them. Agree on the roof too, some pretty hefty stuff growing in hedgerow’s.
Pretty much my thoughts.
yep, say someone having a bit of a "driftking" moment, lost control as they had no idea, span out, front corner impact first, then side and reversed entried into say hitting a sign post or something? That then fell onto the roof?

Surprised he doesn't have dollys to move newly acquired wrecks around!
You pick the most amazing project cars...as Phil Collins once sang in the 1980's...your cars are "Against All Odds". Makes for Excellent viewing. Thanks
Nice reason to fit a carbon roof. Looks to have m performance coilovers on it which is a nice bonus. I suspect it’s tuned as well
Also all the rad packs and stuff are identical to the m3/4
Excited for the content of this one. The panels are going to be a challenge to source. Your dry smile said it all as the plastic crunched and the metal creaked. Brave man! Brilliant channel.👍
Looks to have option packs
M2C Sport Comfort Pack (£1,800)
-Electric Front Seats with Driver Memory
-Heated Front Seats
-Reverse Camera
-Wireless Charging
-Comfort Keyless Access
-Exterior Folding Mirrors
M2C Plus Pack (£1,485)
-BMW ICON adaptive LED Headlights
-19" Black Bi-Colour 788M Alloys Wheels
-Harmon Kardon
-Sun Protection Glass
That is showroom fresh compared to the M240 Salvage rebuilds uk bought recently!🤣
Dwlooooolouder haha 🤣 agreed
I'd say a rather big spin of at a few revolutions ! Good luck
Last build I watched was the Porsche. Looking fwd to this one as its totalled🍿🥳
Just a thought, it looks very similar damage to the Range Rover that Salvage Rebuilds UK are doing at the moment and that was TPAC’d - front, back and drivers side but the passenger side is OK
No roll but slide damage after someone tried drifting but part rolled and hit the roof possibly. Crack on mate, love to do it myself 👍 good buy 👍
Looks like a competition between Matt Armstrong as to who can buy the car with the worst damage. At least it looks like you don’t have to change out the dash. Interesting rebuild and good luck.

plus side... Both reverse lights work.. Looking forward to this fix Dean :)
It may be possible that rather than a rollover, something may have fallen on the roof, a tree or maybe something else, rollovers tend to damage the entire roof and usually windscreens and rear windows get smashed.
Rebuild will be expensive but an awesome car.. looking forward to next vids on it
I wonder if someone was at a trackday and hit tyre barrier maybe 🤔
I have a Z4 and I find it totally stupid that you have to run the engine to check the oil.... if you haven't got any then it takes 15 minutes running to tell you that, by which time you've nicely toasted the engine.... FFS sometimes just a stick (i.e. dipstick) is the easiest option.
Hi Dean. I dont think it rolled over or on it's side, because the wing Mirrors seem ok. Something must have dropped on the roof.
Great vídeo!
I reckons that a track day fail, and it’s hit a bank or tyre wall, mud up the exhaust is a sign,
Love this series. Love an M2 competition! Looking forward to the next instalment 👍🏼
I don't think that the badge was scratched😅 You've got your work cut out there. It'll be interesting.
Do you think something could have fallen on the roof? If it had rolled wouldn't the damage be more across the roof?
since the side morriw are fine, it has not rolled over. but hit soft thing at speed. this is a good long term fix I think. but a good one.
Looking forward to this rebuild! You've got balls. Can you find out from an HPI whether it was stolen/recovered?
More Car Vertical adverts?
New roof needed. Get it on a jig as well
It looks like it’s went through a fence or bushes and whatever the front hit dented the roof as it fell
Roof damage may have been from the lamp post the car clipped. Them LED lamps are made out of metal, are heavy and often break off when hit, mud in tail pipes!! car towed backwards out of ditch 🙂
Good luck with this one Pro .Regards from Holland

Dean got big job on there good luck look forward to seeing the rebuild 👍
Tend to lose door mirrors when cars are rolled. Looks like something dropped onto the roof. If the roof lines haven't shifted has the steel stretched?
Carbon roof time?
get it back in the auction will cost a fair few grand on the jig trying to straighten that out
Or reshell it
I watched another channel shell are cheaper than expected worth a phone call ?
Looks like an immense challenge and I’m anticipating quite an eventful strip down. I winced as you kicked and pulled the pieces clear of the offside wheel …
Looks an expensive project with limited used parts so best of luck with it dean
Think its been crashed on a track, looking forward to this build, plenty of content here with this car can't wait nice one Dean.
It has the Plus pack and Comfort pack, so quite well spec'd
Oh theres a lot more damage then first look at it, also roof damage?
Good luck with the M2 !! you’re going to need it I’m afraid ..engine sounds in need of attention could be real issue.. you’ve mentioned having issues finding used parts another big factor to consider. The roof looks like concern to me ..it’s stacking up could well be money pit
Engine sounds awful to be honest, I would of left this one well alone! But if you have sponsors that not all bad 👍🏻
Yeah I'm sure I heard it knocking on the second start up. I'd get the oil and filter out asap to have a look for "glitter" before investing any serious money in it.
It's definitely been on its side m8. Partly rolled over / on its side, ditched. Loving the vids great stuff 👍
All the clutch smoke when trying to move the forward 😆
One good thing, Dean. The reverse & brake lights work. Good luck with it mate!
Yes, but what about the indicators?😂
I reckon because the airbags didn’t deploy, it was another vehicle that hit it and it was sent into a bank or tree etc
Reminds me of the film Cristine, when he brings it back to the garage.
Thought it looked awful at first but you might have got away with it. Doesn’t look as bad
Looking forward to this one!!
Hopefully the car can move in a straight line again. Good luck.
You will deffo need a need a steering rack as it dont take alot to damage them and steering goes hard to turn as they are electronic
Great work and patience
Looking forward to this project, but I’m biast! The perfect opportunity for a carbon skinned roof there mate!
Yep, that's gone backwards through a hedge/fence/gate, probably via a ditch. It hasn't been inverted otherwise airbags would've no doubt deployed...
You are a mad man. Will be interesting to see what you do with it
Shame it's not a vag, but it makes a change, looks a lot of body damage though, looking forward to the rebuild on this, well done.
Love it dean. You've got your work cut out with this one by the looks of it. But it's gonna be a beauty when it's done 👍😊
Where did that blue smoke come from when you fired it up to move it ?
How have the air bags not deployed, with that front damage you would of thought it would be an air bag banker!
Don’t wear seat belts then air bags don’t go off
Not for the faint hearted Dean! Parts cost and availability the main issue. Amazed that no air bags deployed! It will be great content, but your bank balance is going to be stressed mate 😢
Stick to VAG Dean. Strip and sell it for spares. You will make a mint 👍👍👍🇬🇧👍👍👌🏦🏦🏦
You Need A set Of Skids To Move Damaged Vehicles Around on 👍
i scrolled for ages looking for this exact comment. Good lad 👍.
This will be an interesting build, considering that the spare parts are scarce. For me it doesn't ring a roll over. Looks like it came from a muddy ditch though 🤔. Can't wait for the build.
What a cracking car. Those last few moments before the accident were a bum clencher for sure! Will make great content 👍🏼👍🏼
Sounds very low on oil. Top end tapping like mad. Potential blue smoke from the exhaust when reversing in. Should be fun to watch this.!
Did hear and see that . Been upsides down or almost
Personally not a beemer fan, I’ll watch for the rebuild though.
For me it doesn’t scream rolled, I’d expect more grass/mud and also not a lot of road rash. Also I didn’t see curtain bags blown.
Keep up the good work 👌
Looks like it's hit a lampost, tree or road sign which fell and damaged the roof.
@@davec1942 I’d be interested to see if the seat belt tensioners have gone.
@@fluffstar_ probably needs a new battery, I know my C36 was always getting this problem. Used to drive it blah,blah,blah...you know the rest.
Good work on the wheels Dean, it's got a lot of potential!
I have some Autoglym SRP if that helps Dean , only joking looking forward to this
I think if it had rolled there would be more glass damage and the mirror would be off, ill guess its hit the verge then went backwards through a hege or roadsign!
No airbags deployed?? Most things on this one is standard except the gear box, manual is standard. But it looks scary. I doubt it overturned., the damage is so weird.
Hi Dean, what tool did you use to open the inner rod end
Yessss BMW content! Glad to see it 👌👌
Good luck with this one hopefully you get it up n running…
It always surprised me when cars like this still drive. Especially when my car won't release the park brake if the drivers door is open....
looks like you might have lucked out with this one. most of it looks like it's just replace parts. I was surprised when you said the sub frame wasn't damaged.
That looks like its slid off a road into a ditch and tipped up on its side, hence the roof damage against a tree or similar. Good luck, going to be a challenging build!
I did that
Been through a hedge plain n simple back wards side ways who knows haha got to be a breaker tho surely, nice car but can't see that being a strait car ever again
That static camera from your garage, and than a BMW goes into view all messed up with klonka klonka engine made me LOL. 15:17
You should have started video like that.
Think I see a panel without damage !!
Cheers Dean, could always try and find out where and when the vehicle “crashed” and maybe speak to local fire service as I’m pretty sure we would have turned out to this, cheers Jason🚒👍👍
What would achieved speaking to fire service? Dwlooooolouder haha 🤣 you tube viewers
Good luck on this one!! That's looks like a bit of a challenge but I reckon something has fallen on the roof, possibly. Looking forward to see this get underway!
Depends how much Dean paid for it
Just a bit of panel damage 🤣🤣🤣🤣 does nothing ever faze you, surely Dean this is going to cost a small fortune to get it to its former glory, but if anyone can do it you can, it’s going to be a good series this
Should be a good build but the damage is weird. Part of me thinks the car was parked as the airbag never went off but then that does not explain the mud also the roof damage is odd cause the c pillar does not look out of shape yet that roof is in
Change or the arms for brand new ones. Don't play around with them. Buy lemforder, they are OEM
Engine sounds like bottom end clattering, oil cooler missing is bit of a red flag. Need to inspect shells first before you spend time and money on the rest of it
Looks like it's gone into a ditch sideways at some speed and someone probably lost it on a bend, hence the mud and front and rear damage and pushed the roof in
what do you do with all the container
Fabulous project. Looking forward to the next one.
Rear wheel drive, I'd say spun into a ditch. That door glass close might be a worry, if the roofs moved? Lets see what awaits you underneath! Nice buy for the Channel
It's one complete basket-case after another!! I love this channel.
Great project for the channel and I think someone has jamp on the roof as there is not enough damage for a roll over.
Bit of T-cut it’ll be fine!!
I like to buy cars with damage like for example my Miata NB which I bought with a broken vinyl top for a stupidly low price, considering it was a rust-free exemplar.
I’ve restored a written-off Z4 and an X3 before, and these BMWs always end up costing more to fix than you think! If you’re willing to keep the car then it’s “worth it” as it’s cheaper than buying an undamaged one, but I wouldn’t expect much profit in selling it on.
