Denmark is the most beautiful place in the summer. The golden fields, poppies, cornflowers, chocories and chervil dotting the side of the road and a blue sky with puffy white clouds. Awh! It's so pretty!
Weather is, by definition, “UNPREDICTABLE “! One of you grew up in Central NY, with the weather wandering from warm & dry to cool & wet in the summer! The only thing different is the range of temperatures, mainly driven by latitudes! You can do this same clip speaking about other locations! We’ve been there to visit a number of times, without hard expectations about the weather! All this said, great clip, and I plan to use it here! ❤️
About the fun festival's all over. Right now, this week, there is the Trelleborg Viking Festival, in Slagelse. About an hour from copenhagen. It is here every year in week 29. I can only recommend visiting it. The viking's will be there, also if it rains. 😁
Haven't tried Trelleborg yet. I live 500m from Lindholm Høje so I'm morally obliged to at least peak in every year. If Trelleborg is anything like Lindholm Høje it's oodles of fun and a whole lot of nerds taking it to the next level.
I think the summer in Denmark is awesome - not too hot and some rainy days for some home cozy days. I was not a fan of the summer of 2018 - it was hot and dry for almost over an month.
Farmers were not a fan of it either. The lack of rain in late April and most of May stunted germination, and all sun but no rain in the main growth season is a double whammy when the roots aren't as developed as usual.
Even Danish summers are too hot for me, which is why I tend to go on vacation even further north. I think Iceland has the temperatures for me, love visiting there in the summer. I overheat in anything over 20 C, and over 30 C I shut down and can't do anything at all except suffer.
6:45 there is a reason why Vitamin D is registered as a mood enhancing drug in Denmark... simply because we Danes tend to not get enough sun during the winter and fall season (and to some extent also during spring)

You just have to become more Danish, Mike. There is that time of the year which we all reach at some point, where we just decide that now it is summer, and come hell or high water we will wear t-shirts and shorts or skirts or the likes. It is a mind-set I tell you! (and as someone whose 'point' tends to arrive a bit later than everyone else's, it does get awkward to run around wearing a coat when people next to you have sandals and no socks.) Also arguably, it is nice when it is warm and it rains. - some people even smile - I am dead.
Hi Guys, spent 4 weeks in Denmark June 2023, weather was perfect, rained only 1 day and even then it was not much, temps avg around 25 -28c everyday, did not put a sweater on the whole trip, shorts and t shirt every day, loved it. Maybe just lucky
It's going to get a little less cold in the winter and a lot less hot in the summer. This summer HAS been more rainy than the average, but in 2018 we had six weeks straight with no rain at the height of summer. Danes with their Viking genes intact were suffering, and the vegetation was basically gunpowder. But that pretty much paints a picture of what you can expect: Don't expect anything, but what you get won't be in any particular category of extreme. Except that one time every 10-15 years when a hurricane comes by and rips big trees up and blow roofs off barns.
You could mention the loooong Sunrises and Sunsets, in the south it feels like someone turns the light on or off. In the norrh it’s a real long enjoyable process, and beautiful too. Imagine sitting on a beach with your new love holding hands watching the sun S l o w l y descent. In Florida that moment is gone in flash. Uh and the colours too!

Hi guys, so nice to watch your videos :-) To me, the light and long summer days are the most magical and I am always surprised about how early it is dark in the South. I’ll take white nights anytime
I was as lucky as someone could be. I went to visit a friend two weeks ago and experienced the most beautiful weather I could have imagined: blue skies and warm days. It was so good that I even decided to move there (aware that there might be only about 30 days like those a year). I’ve already quit my job and have started planning the transfer.
Im a Dane and I’ve appreciate the Danish “cold” summer, its like I have a build-in refrigerator, when most other say (it’s so nice weather, nice and warm) I’m melting of warm, when most say it’s so cold, I’m it’s so nice just the right temperature for me, would never travel to a warm place, it’s be pure torture for me

Ohhhh i have a lot to say about the so called “ summer” in Denmark 😂😂😂. It’s rarely warm in the summer, the last time it was warm and a long warm summer was in 2019 i Think it was. But I’m always freezing in Denmark and I do t not believe in the “ there’s no bad weather only bad clothes” 😅. If it’s summer I want to walk in shorts and a top not a big sweaters and winter jacket. So I gave up and now I’m in Spain enjoying summer every day. Well it’s a bit too warm right now but that I do not freeze all the time. The only thing I miss is actually the sun getting up at 4-4:30 in the morning I love that. But when there finally is a warm summer day there’s nothing better than spending the days in Copenhagen ♥️♥️♥️♥️
This summer, this month so far - rainy, windy, very little sunny. I keep having to remove unwanted weeds - new ones, persistent ones , the recurring ones - they just keep coming back in my garden!! Still waiting to lounge on my sofa out in the terrace and do some more grilling. Pleasessss sun, come back before the summer is gone 🙏
Put it this way. Summers in Denmark can be absolutely great, but summers in Denmark can also be somewhat cold, rainy and windy. However, as always, the Danish climate is always about dressing for the prevailing weather. There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing. It really depends. I have lived in Singapore since 2008 and I would enjoy any summer in Denmark no matter the weather. When you live in a place where every day is in the 30s (C) and very humid, you actually long for cooler weather, rain and wind.
So you were here in the summer of '18? So hot, do dry. But hey, you didn't need tents! I look back at that summer with mixed emotions, but mostly I remember how hot it was at nights.
I was in Stockholm and Åland summer 2018 and it was a crazy heat wave. They said it was the hottest summer in 60 years. No AC…I learned how to sleep without any covers that summer
We haven't had a summer like this since the midnineties, if you ask me. Every summer since then has been hot, dry and sunny. I belong to the minority of Danes who hate constant heatwaves because its so limiting. If we had aircondition everywhere like in the US, I might like it more. But as a dogowner this is my kind of summer. No melting asphalt yet. Some summers my dog has had to wear shoes whenever we went outside.
While i love a day or two where i can have shorts on and a airy t-shirt, i hate when it becomes every day and night.. Last year we had our fan turned on most days and nights to just exist it was horrible.. The summers have in general been more and more extreme.. This year has been weird though, super nice and warm weather earlier and this summer has just been cloudy rainy, i don't mind the rain, or the clouds but it has been a little odd.
There is a reason why Denmark is so green and not brownish like in Southern Europe. It's the weather. Without the summer rain, nature would first of all suffer seriously and then we who live in Denmark. Look at southern Europe and then be so happy for the Danish weather.
I was in Denmark for a week last August and the weather was perfect. Now I'm from Australia and it can get extremely hot here, Copenhagen was around 24-28 when I was there and it was great.
It seems that you were there in the second half of August, we were there in the first half, and it was rained every day, but we still enjoyed the trip, Denmark is a nice and clean place, and as the wife said freshly washed.
Last year I was there in Sept and Oct and I was in shorts most of the time. I’d hate to have warmer nights though as you have to have the windows and blockout blinds down for the brightness. I’m going there next month so I’ll see how it goes.
This year's weather certainly doesn't feel very "summer-y." Usually, Danish summers are fine, I think, but if you want 30+ celcius degrees, Denmark is not where you should spend your summer.
Psychological first aid for handling the Danish climate: "The weather sucks!... BUT... in ten minutes it will suck in a NEW and INTERESTING way!" "I identify as a back-pack person... because lugging my closet around is cumbersome" "I'm not paranoid! The weather IS out to get me!" "Being subjected to wild temperature and humidity swings builds the immune system. Im VERY healthy!"
Welcome back, guys! Ahh...the conundrum that is the Danish summer! ☀️🌤🌦🌧 Yes, Scandis as a whole, go south for 3 weeks for the sunshine, but nothing can keep us away from home! Rugbrød, leverpostej, lagkage and beer are just some of the 'wants' that Danes won't be without 🤣 Enjoy the D-vitamins, the slightly warmer temps and the smiles 😃 Winter hygge is not that far away, now 😉
Us Danes when it’s 16 degrees out in shorts and tshirts😂😂😂 On the pro side with this summer weather I’m enjoying going horseback riding without melting😂
It goes both ways. I was born in Denmark, when I first came to the USA. I experienced the warm temperature like entering a nice warm living room, now after having lived in Florida for many years, it's like coming to a nice cold living room when I came to Denmark.
@@RobeTrotting You get used to the weather in Denmark as well as in Florida. I'm close to the 70s, and I can still be outside for 8 hours even when it's the hottest, I couldn't do that in Denmark in the winter when it was the coldest.
Thanks 😊 we’ll be more consistent with these - our focuses have been elsewhere and Mike especially doesn’t have the time these days but we should be able to do some biweekly uploads
Had I seen this video yesterday, I probably would've been ready before being soaked and walking around wet at the playground with my kids 😂 *avoiding Danish stares*
I definitely laugh about the blue light from tv and phones keeping us from sleeping because in DK it’s just the sun keeping us loaded with blue light😅 maybe we should try walk around all day with those blue light blocking glasses if we’re having trouble sleeping this time of the year😂 I do appreciate it’s getting dark around 23 o’clock now as opposed to a month ago when it was still light at midnight 😮
Rather be soaking wet in rainwater than in sweat! We are not all heat resistant but luckily we are all water resistant and if you ain't, then buy a wet suit and live in it over the summer!!!
Feel free to go to southern Europe during summer. Remember to enjoy the +40 dregrees... Personally I will rather stay in Denmark in moderate degrees. Too many people! - Come on! Every bigger city has this problem. If you want peace and quiet. Go to the countryside. Denmark has lots and lots of beaches and habours without to many people. Besides feel free to enjoy a beer or a glass of wine, without having anyone seeing you as a criminal...
Yesterday in The Netherlands: 8:00 sun, 10:00, rain, 11:00 cloudy, 13:00 sun, 16:00 heavy rain and thunder, 19:00, cloudy, 20:00 sun, 22:00 oh sun is down and raining a little bit. Are our countries close to each other , haha
I find that people always exaggerate the weather thing. So it rains sometimes? There will be many days with sunshine and 20+ degrees, just not every single day.
I Think it’s stranges that a lot of People on TH-cam , is surprised that we have beaches in Denmark 😮😮 we are surrounded by water . What do they expect😊😊
130th largest country, 17th longest coastal line (without Greenland and Faroe Islands). We have as long a coastal line, as Mexico, India, Italy, Brazil, Turkey and Chile. The US only has a bit over 2½ times coastal line, as Denmark.
@@akyhne I wouldn't say "almost entirely". There are vast stretches where the beach is just gravel and stone. Which is why the good beeches are crowded. If it was just good sand beech it simply couldn't be crowded as we have almost 1.5m of coast line per person :P
It really does. Luckily the three other seasons ARE EVEN WORSE 😖😖😭 It has gotten worse over the last three decades. I remember warm summers and cold winters when I grew up here (80s-90s). Now it's mostly just between 5-17 degrees all fucking year, and it's never really good. Sometimes it's extremely bad. But mostly just mellow and depressing. Global warming brought some crazy weather to many places, but in Denmark it's just increasingly dull and always a little bit too windy. FML xD
If you want to experience the Danish summer, you'd have to be here over roughly 11 summers. Then you have experienced it all, from a cold, disappointing summer (like 2024), to a heat wave summer and everything in between. What I mean by heat wave summer, is 3-5 weeks of 27-34°C and temperatures at night barely going below 20°C. Those summers are miserable. We might be lucky and get a so-called Indian summer this year, but they are probably rarer. It's when we get 2-3 weeks in September (or even later), with 20-25°C. They usually fall on summers with shitty weather.
Any night time temp below 26.6 is a good one. We had a nice cool 33 today here in Alabama. It was great, but rain all around. Currently 11 PM 25.5 and 89% humidity. We didn't get any rain locally though. Nice to be out of the heat wave. -An American.
As an American that has lived through a hurricane and spends 1 or 2 nights a year hunkering down from a tornado in the area I can reassure you that bad weather exists. Now, you might not experience it, but there's not any clothing that is going to make those two events safe.
Seattle, Denver, Oklahoma City, Nashville, Washington DC, Las Vegas, Boston, Detroit, Memphis, Milwaukee, Tuscon, Sacramento, Atlanta, Kansas City and more are all the same size or slightly larger or smaller than Copenhagen. I don't think you would call those cities towns. Maybe they feel different to an American, because they almost all have skyscrapers and Copenhagen doesn't?
I’m not even sure the context in which it was said but I’d call any of those places a town and not think of it like a unit of measurement. City, town, metro area - honestly interchangeable to me and it’s not that deep.
@@RobeTrotting Population of Copenhagen is 660.000. So, let's say over a million and we'll call it a city. By that measurement, only 9 cities in the US would qualify as a city. I'm sure you wouldn't agree with that?! The thing is, all Americans call the aforementioned cities, cities. But many Americans call European cities, towns, even if these are cities with a population of several millions.

But as a dogowner this is my kind of summer. No melting asphalt yet. Some summers my dog has had to wear shoes whenever we went outside.
Yeah, such a weird summer 😮
While i love a day or two where i can have shorts on and a airy t-shirt, i hate when it becomes every day and night.. Last year we had our fan turned on most days and nights to just exist it was horrible.. The summers have in general been more and more extreme.. This year has been weird though, super nice and warm weather earlier and this summer has just been cloudy rainy, i don't mind the rain, or the clouds but it has been a little odd.
short memory!
@@bwbcabinets5514 Yeah I was there around the 19th August.
If you don't like the weather in Denmark just wait five minutes.
I was told by Danish friends. And I think it's true.
SOOOO true haha
Psychological first aid for handling the Danish climate:
"The weather sucks!... BUT... in ten minutes it will suck in a NEW and INTERESTING way!"
"I identify as a back-pack person... because lugging my closet around is cumbersome"
"I'm not paranoid! The weather IS out to get me!"
"Being subjected to wild temperature and humidity swings builds the immune system. Im VERY healthy!"
Welcome back, guys!
Ahh...the conundrum that is the Danish summer! ☀️🌤🌦🌧
Yes, Scandis as a whole, go south for 3 weeks for the sunshine, but nothing can keep us away from home! Rugbrød, leverpostej, lagkage and beer are just some of the 'wants' that Danes won't be without 🤣
Enjoy the D-vitamins, the slightly warmer temps and the smiles 😃
Winter hygge is not that far away, now 😉
Oh wow, I can’t think of winter yet hahaha 😆
I'm honestly not sure what to say. May is a great month to be in Denmark. After that i can take it or leave it. There is usually a lot of rain.
Love the summer rain :)
When you break it all down, it still not as bad as Scotland :D
Us Danes when it’s 16 degrees out in shorts and tshirts😂😂😂 On the pro side with this summer weather I’m enjoying going horseback riding without melting😂
Welcome back Mike!
I mean the worst part about summer, is those days when the temperature is at 25 celsius or higher, where it feels as you're constantly melting.
That doesn’t happen to me 😂
the two best months in Denmark are May and August. so if you are a tourist, it is where it is the least overcrowded and the most sunny
Agreed 👍 😃
@@RobeTrotting aug and sep use to be just nice
Danish summer - the best day of the year!
If you think summer in Denmark sucks, just go to Ireland for a few months and you'll quickly learn to appreciate Danish weather 😂
It goes both ways.
I was born in Denmark, when I first came to the USA. I experienced the warm temperature like entering a nice warm living room, now after having lived in Florida for many years, it's like coming to a nice cold living room when I came to Denmark.
Florida’s climate is rough - I can see that for sure.
@@RobeTrotting You get used to the weather in Denmark as well as in Florida.
I'm close to the 70s, and I can still be outside for 8 hours even when it's the hottest, I couldn't do that in Denmark in the winter when it was the coldest.
have been missing these shorter vids from u!
Thanks 😊 we’ll be more consistent with these - our focuses have been elsewhere and Mike especially doesn’t have the time these days but we should be able to do some biweekly uploads
Spot on, guys!
"some people even smile" Oh, come on, we are not all grumpy. 😏
Dane here weighing in.... _"Do Asians eat rice?"_ rhetorical question re the Danish Summer...
😂Being a Dane living aboard, love to escape the heat going back home to visit.
However do dress as I would during the winter where I live😂
Great video!
Thank you so much 😊
Danish summer absolutely does not suck, pity, though, that it only lasts for a day 😆
😂 so true
Had I seen this video yesterday, I probably would've been ready before being soaked and walking around wet at the playground with my kids 😂 *avoiding Danish stares*
Dang, sorry - I had it just about ready yesterday too 🙈
I do like the Danish Summer, when I have been away for a couple of weeks and had my warm Summer
truth haha
I definitely laugh about the blue light from tv and phones keeping us from sleeping because in DK it’s just the sun keeping us loaded with blue light😅 maybe we should try walk around all day with those blue light blocking glasses if we’re having trouble sleeping this time of the year😂 I do appreciate it’s getting dark around 23 o’clock now as opposed to a month ago when it was still light at midnight 😮
As a Dane: we don't go south in the summer. Sometimes to Austria, but no further south.
The Danish summer dosnt suck. It's just extremely bipolar XD
Perfectly described 😂
Not every summer… last couple of years has been good, but This summer is not so good
Do you know when it is summer in Denmark? the rain gets warmer😂
14°C is shorts weather in denmark :P if its 20°C is starting to get to hot.
it's so popular with "diversity" in modern times not much is as divers as the Danish summer
So true 😂 it has everything
I went there for 2 weeks one July and the first week was so cold that I couldn’t wear my shorts, the second week it was fine!
Denmark may not suck but it sure do soak in the sommer 😉
😂🤣😂🤣
I find that people always exaggerate the weather thing. So it rains sometimes? There will be many days with sunshine and 20+ degrees, just not every single day.
The danish word HYGGE originated bc. of the weather lol.
I Think it’s stranges that a lot of People on TH-cam , is surprised that we have beaches in Denmark 😮😮 we are surrounded by water . What do they expect😊😊
Cliffs/fjords maybe 🤷🏻♂️ I think people probably think of beaches as tropical maybe 🤔
130th largest country, 17th longest coastal line (without Greenland and Faroe Islands).
We have as long a coastal line, as Mexico, India, Italy, Brazil, Turkey and Chile. The US only has a bit over 2½ times coastal line, as Denmark.
@@RobeTrottingYou need to go to Christiansø or Bornholm, to see Cliffs as beach line. The rest, except for fjords are almost entirely sandy beaches.
@@akyhne I wouldn't say "almost entirely". There are vast stretches where the beach is just gravel and stone. Which is why the good beeches are crowded. If it was just good sand beech it simply couldn't be crowded as we have almost 1.5m of coast line per person :P
I think the shock is nice beaches, not just beaches, but they do think of warmer water.
Uk 🇬🇧 sucks in summer. I hate the heat and it brings me out in a rash as I’m allergic to it 🤮🤢
It really does. Luckily the three other seasons ARE EVEN WORSE 😖😖😭
It has gotten worse over the last three decades.
FML xD
Yes! They ARE THAT BAD! I’m from Denmark and I HATE our climate 🥶🥶🥶
An old friend of mine is hilarious when he expresses his disappointment regarding the Danish summer 😆
He just hasn't experienced it yet. It's the best week of the year! It's just a shame we never know when it is.
Yes, the weather SUCKS this Summer!
Every 3rd summer is just wet as English autum.
This is number 8, so not far away haha ⛅️
@@RobeTrotting september with indian summer so nice lol
Any night time temp below 26.6 is a good one. We had a nice cool 33 today here in Alabama. It was great, but rain all around. Currently 11 PM 25.5 and 89% humidity. We didn't get any rain locally though.
Nice to be out of the heat wave.
-An American.
No the weather in Denmark aren't that bad... it's even worse 😂😂😂
I thought that winter would suck in Denmark. ? Though, it sounds similar to the US.
14C°+ is shorts and t-shirt weather above 23C° is too hot and clothing should be optional
🤷🏻♂️ sounds good
this year so far sucked big time in Denmark
Right now it does ;)
Right 😂
more than 10 degrees celsius = Shorts
As a dane there is no such thing as bad weather there is only bad clothing choice. 😉
As an American that has lived through a hurricane and spends 1 or 2 nights a year hunkering down from a tornado in the area I can reassure you that bad weather exists.
Now, you might not experience it, but there's not any clothing that is going to make those two events safe.
@@Zhiperser Thats true but we do not see many tornadoes here i belive the strongest one was an f3 that ripped some of the roof off a Building.
@@Zhiperser just wear something heavy bro
Does danish summer Suck ?`
Not if you like water
The swans love it 😂
Seattle, Denver, Oklahoma City, Nashville, Washington DC, Las Vegas, Boston, Detroit, Memphis, Milwaukee, Tuscon, Sacramento, Atlanta, Kansas City and more are all the same size or slightly larger or smaller than Copenhagen.
Is that why there are so many Danes in Sweden!😉
Just that you know it- it's not normal, this summer in 24' has been the worst EVER, it can only be better going forward, we have reached point Zero .
this summer all of europe es pecially the north have had a bad summer august and september will be fine lol
Bit odd to complain about that there are too many people around when you chose to live in the capital.
He had to take that side of the debate, just to present the opposite argument.
Freedom to drink ALCOHOL in public ( goes for spring fall and winter to )
Even winter if you have gloves 😂
Summer came later :D

The danish weather is schizofrenic....

OH LOOK, clouds.... but wait....
