Excellent video, I took my turn signal switch off the 240z and follow your instructions how to clean the contacts. The cleaning and lube of the contact base took care of my issues with the switch. Thank you Dave for your youtube video. Stay safe and take care! Ron
Great video, Dave! Let us know when you are established in your new location. 240Z owners - if you've got switch issues, I highly recommend Dave's refurbishment service. He gives a discount if you send both switch assemblies, so send both and you'll finally have peace of mind on this tricky issue.
the stick that you move up and down to initiate the blinkers fell out on mine. the pin that holds it in broke. I know there is a metal point that is at the inside end, but i cant figure out if i lost a piece because it wont stay it slides into the stick. If you can provide me with pictures or something of the inside end of the stick thing that you move up and down or if i can buy that stick part from you it would be gratefully appreciated.
Hi Dave. Thanks for this videos. The rear left turn signal light does not flash. However if i turn the emergency switch on it does flash on both sides. Is there anything else i should troubleshoot before removing the TS switch from the steering column? Just want to discard any other possible causes before getting into your refurbish process.
You can always use a volt meter or test light on the turn signal wires. They should be, iirc, green/red and green/black as well as white/red and white/black, all located on the turn signal switch. Ignition and left signal engaged, both wires on that side of the switch should flash your test light. If only one wire works, then you need to refurbish the switch.
@@DatsunDave07 well i toggled the ts switch up and down and the left rear blinker came back. I did not have to remove the switch from the steering column. Nevertheless, i noticed that even though the hi - low beam headlight switch is working the blue light on the speedometer is not lighting up. Any clues of what is wrong here? Could the ba9s led burn out? This is weird as i rarely used this hi beam position.
I'd refer you to one of my other videos that explains how to clean the headlight / wiper combo switch. The metal switch box on the lower half is your wiper motor contacts and likely is dirty.
Dave, I have a 280z and would like to refurbish my switch. I could follow your video but I don’t think it’s going to come out as well as you can do it. If I break something I’m toast. Are you interested?
Thank you DatsunDave. I appreciate people like you sharing such important delicate work.

Hi Dave. The high speed wiper control on the combo switch of my 1972 240z works randomly. Meaning, it works sometimes. How do i clean this?
I'd refer you to one of my other videos that explains how to clean the headlight / wiper combo switch. The metal switch box on the lower half is your wiper motor contacts and likely is dirty.
Also, on the 72', the headlight switch box is identical to the wiper switch box. So, same process for cleaning contacts.
Which of your videos?? There are many@@DatsunDave07

Sorry. I don't have the tools, parts or work place anymore. I moved off-grid with no shop or garage.
@@DatsunDave07 Wow, thanks for the reply. I’ll try it myself. I have 3 extra carcasses if I screw it up
Anyone know if the 280z switches are the same as the 240z?
