I really like this video, a lot of the dual boot videos you see either over explain every single little thing, like how to make a bootable USB, or they expect you to know exactly what your doing and don't explain anything at all. This is a good middle ground that doesn't treat you/make you feel like an idiot.

Hi, I followed along with the tutorial step-by-step on my Asus Vivobook laptop, right until 5:58 when you click Next after selecting the Boot flag and the /boot/efi mount point in the FAT32 partition on the installer. However, I'm getting an error saying "An EFI system partition is necessary to start Manjaro. To configure an EFI system partition, go back and select or create a FAT32 filesystem with the boot flag enabled and mount point /boot/efi. You can continue without setting up an EFI system partition but your system may fail to start." But, as I said, I did select a FAT32 fs with the boot flag and mount point /boot/efi, any idea why it isn't detecting it? Should I just continue with the installation or should I change something? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

This can be due to multiple reasons. Your motherboard does not allow booting others boot loader than Windows. In this case you should look in the BIOS to check if there's a setting for that. Or, your motherboard requires a particular efi directory.

Einige Motherboards erlauben standardmäßig keine anderen Bootloader.

In the PowerShell you don't see the Grub volume. You see the Windows EFI volume and Grub is installed in there. Before being able to see it you need to mount it in the system by passing a letter.

Hi thanks for the video. I downloaded the last Manjaro Version GNOME 20.2 Would appreciate some help
It can be related to video drivers. If your laptop has an intel card why you can try is booting from a live iso, go in a terminal mount the partitions and chroot in. Then you can check which drivers are in use. You might want to refer to this wiki: wiki.manjaro.org/index.php/Configure_Graphics_Cards
excuse me sir, if the installation is complete when there is an application selection, and I check a few and whether the application is installed immediately or what must be download

Seems to be grub was not installed correctly. You'll have boot the live iso, go in the terminal and check what happens by mounting the partitions and eventually re install grub in the Windows efi partition. Or, you can try the installer again, but make sure you have a backup first.

Hi thanks for the video.
I followed all the steps and apparently Manjaro installed correctly, but when I turn on my laptop and get the option to choose between Manjaro or Windows, and then select Manjaro, it appears the "DELL" logo and below it says "manjaro" as if it is loading, but it gets stuck and can't get to the desktop :(
I have a Dell Inspiron 5402 with Intel Iris Xe GPU, hence I chose the free drivers option, but I'm not really sure if this is a problem related to the kernel or if I have done something wrong during the installation. I downloaded the last Manjaro Version GNOME 20.2
Would appreciate some help
It can be related to video drivers. If your laptop has an intel card why you can try is booting from a live iso, go in a terminal mount the partitions and chroot in. Then you can check which drivers are in use. You might want to refer to this wiki: wiki.manjaro.org/index.php/Configure_Graphics_Cards
@@eflinux Thank you for your answer, I will try this :)
excuse me sir, if the installation is complete when there is an application selection, and I check a few and whether the application is installed immediately or what must be download
I am not sure I understand your question.
not installed immediately. must be connected to the internet and it will be downloaded & installed (or uninstalled) based on your preference.
@@denissetiawan3645 thx bro
Great video, perfect explanation! I have only got one question: why didn't you create a swap partition for Manjaro? Cheers and keep up with your stuff!
In this particular vm I had enough RAM, so I didn't create it.
Thanks dude, you save my life.
Great video ! I really appreciate the details about grub at the end. could you please illustrate how to do the same but from manjaro architect? I couldn't get it to work as it was not detecting the free space.
Great idea! I'll add it to the list!
Fantastic video but why we don't create a home partition?
You definitely can, for this video I didn't
@@eflinux what I did is from a 100gb:
8000mb swap
20000mb root
And the rest on home... Did I screw something up hahaha sorry I'm a super newbies
Looks good. Don't forget the efi partition if it is a uefi system.
@@eflinux It's works first time in linux you video help me a lot thanks you!
My pleasure!
I have a question. How can you access(and use of course) Windows partition in Linux and Linux position in Windows?
TY for another great video kind sir.
When i install manjaro like this everythings okay for the first time. Grub seeing my windows boot at grub menu but when i upgrade manjaro after that it updating kernel and modifying grub menu after disappearing windows option and never come back again. I tryed sudo update-grub not fixed. efibootmgr appearing windows option but grub cannot see.. i didnt find how to fix this.
any way to remove the efi boot from linux ? I have install other linux before. it is still in the efi. I am also use dual boot with win10. I tried efibootmgr -b 0002 -B. it will delete it temporary. when reboot, it come back again. I don't know why
If you have an UEFI system the efi partition is mandatory.
what to do if u dont have an EFI Partion do you make it?
You don't have an EFI for Windows? Are on a UEFI system?
Getting error after install now say can't create partition I excatly followed all of your tutorial and trying 7 times.
What partition can't be created?
Minimal bash - Iike line editing supported message after restart. Pls help.
Seems to be grub was not installed correctly. You'll have boot the live iso, go in the terminal and check what happens by mounting the partitions and eventually re install grub in the Windows efi partition. Or, you can try the installer again, but make sure you have a backup first.
@@eflinux @EF - Tech Made Simple My bad. I didn't install the grub and . Logging in windows I deleted my old ubuntu efi. I reinstalled by following the correct method and it's fine now. Thank you very much.
Great! Glad you sorted it out!
Thank you! I want to have shared storage between windows and manjaro. Do I have to do something else or is leaving it like this fine?
You can create a directory in Manjaro and mount the Windows partition on it. Make sure the ntfs-3g package is installed first.
I did all that... But when I'm on install page it didn't even let me click next on the very first page
