  • Join me for a walk around the heart of one of England's most historic county towns, Warwick! Home to one of the country's most spectacular and most complete medieval castles, and a beautiful Georgian town centre that was rebuilt after a devastating fire, a walk around Warwick throws up so many fascinating stories!
On our walk around Warwick, we pass a number of interesting landmarks, including Warwick Castle (Caesar's Tower), Mill Street, The Malt House, St. Nicholas Church, East Gate, The Court House, Warwick War Memorial, St. Mary's Church, Market Place, statue of Randolph Turpin, Market Hall, The Warwick Arms Hotel, Unitarian Chapel, Lord Leycester Hospital and West Gate.

Good evening! And welcome to this walk around the heart of one of Britain's most historic county towns: Warwick! The home of a magnificent medieval castle and a beautiful town centre - Warwick is full of riveting history :)
On our walk around Warwick, we talked a lot about the range of Georgian architecture that dominates the town centre, having been built after the Great Fire of 1694. When the town was being rebuilt, developers intended, rather than simply recreating the former town, to entice the landed gentry and wealthy merchants to live in Warwick - and so focused on creating a striking, exquisite town centre that would attract such a class of people!

I was born in Leamington Spa and our family moved to Warwick in 1963. We lived on a housing estate and our house bordered the forest belonging to the Earl. We used to hop over the fence and sneak up to the castle, frequently got chased out by the gamekeeper. I found a Roman coin in our back garden which we handed in to the museum. So many memories.
We emigrated to New Zealand in 1973 and I've never been back. Thanks for an excellent walking tour.

Great walk around,a few years ago I got a taxi from Market Harborough in Leicestershire to Warwick one Saturday morning, had a look around the market, then waited til 10am when the Castle opens,I had a yearly pass at the time,I spent 4 hrs at the castle, then came out mesmerised, and caught the No.6 bus into Stratford upon Avon and spent the day there, went around Shakespeares birthplace in Henley street, went around the then Falstaffs experience in sheep street, then on to Holy Trinity Church to see Shakespeares Grave,I spent all day in Stratford, and returned twice a month for quite a few months,Warwick and Stratford became my favourite places to go at the time,I’m planning a trip to return to both very soon, thanks again for video.

Thank you for another superb tour. I have visited Warwick many times but never knew so much about the town's history. It was a pleasant trip down memory lane seeing this. I absolutely love the architecture and the rich history.
