I am grateful to you for bring the Pentacon Six to light. I have the TL version and ALL the lenses; it will accompany me on my March 2023 trip to Japan. The back pain associated with lugging this kit, is real.
I've got one of these. It's a bit agricultural but I really like it. The Carl Zeiss Jena MC lenses are fantastic. I use the 2.8/80, a 4/50 and the 2.8/180, the latter being a behemoth of one and a half kilograms.
I brought one to Taiwain and Japan with the 80mm F2.8, fantastic camera, and not particularly heavy with the 80mm compared to other medium format 6x6 and larger cameras
I have the soviet Pentacon-alike, Kiev 60, built like a brick... but I can confirm the Zeiss Pentacon glass is stunning. My lens kit is Flektogon 50mm, Sonnar 180mm f/2.8 (!) and Sonnar 300mm F4. I should really pick up a Biometar 80mm to round out the lineup, someday! All around an excellent and criminally underrated camera system. Get in while it's still cheap!
I'm crazy for one of these things. I'm getting tired of cropping digital to 6x6, and film 35.... The square is just such a great framing for so many subjects which can be large in the image but still have good headroom to balance the composition - still have room to breathe. I've watched a lot of reviews of this system - someone tell me, what's not to like? Cheers for the review - well done.
