If you're still reading comments and have the hardware to do it, there's a mod in 1.7.10 and 1.12 called "HBM's Nuclear tech".
It has many realistic features and you can build your own modular RBMKs that will do a nice kaboom if operated incorrectly and would do good for a redo.
