The most perfect tutorial. Where (color) to start the moss stitch on the very 1st row, where to end the 1st row, where to start and end the 2nd row and where to start the 3rd row is the most important information to understand. Your verbal instructions and visual examples are the very best. The colorway you chose is perfect for a beginner!! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you very much!
Hello there, I'm Cristina from Italy. I do like your explanation, it's better and clearer than many others, I've been watching so many tutorials during the last year, but in order to get a perfect pattern you should switch the colour just by one stitch and only one so everything would be just perfect with perfect diamonds on the pattern from where the argyle starts. If you switch by two or more like you did in the video, the pattern will look a bit confused, just a bit, but it makes the difference. I tell you this to share my experience and not because I'm better than you, I'm not better than anyone that's for sure, I'm not correcting you as a Karen 😅 but I've been trying colour pooling for so long (frustrating) time and there are now a few things that are very clear to me and this is one of them. If you try to pay attention to this you'll have the absolutely perfect argyle pattern. When you reach the third row the first of the three stitches must be switched by one from the last stitch of the same color two rows behind at the beginning and at the end. Sorry for my written English, I'm just trying to do my best 😁🤦🏽♀️ Thanks for sharing what you know and explaining it so well to us. Hugs from here to there 🫂
After watching several videos from others and frogging my work at least 10 times, I was just about to give up on planned pooling. I am so glad I clicked on your video. Your thorough explanation of every step and the added tips along the way made it so much easier to understand the technique. Thank you so much!
It took me an hour just to set up with the first chains to get it correct. Then another several days to actually get the color pooling correctly. It’s definitely a journey. 😂
Thank you Dawn Marie. This was really helpful. I am new to crochet and this was really inspiring. I have subscribed to your channel and am looking forward to catching up on all of your videos and shorts. Hope you have a great day! 😊
Oh my gosh that is so beautiful. I have never seen this type of crocheting before. It looks like it's really fun and can also serve as therapy for me. God knows that I needed something like this. I was actually watching those stories they read to you about and my favorites are watching true crime shows. After watching one of those stories I saw #plannedcolorpooling And I saw that pretty pattern and decided to take a look and wow it looked interesting. I saw the pattern of the afghan and thought this is awesome for my new greatgrandson.I definitely will be trying this color looking. Lol it still sounds so foreign. Thank you for showing your work.
Thank you for this wonderful tutorial. I finally feel I may be able to tackle colour pooling now. I’ve already ordered the same yarn as yours! You have explained and demonstrated and have made it look easy❤
I’ve been crocheting for decades and only found out about colour pooling recently. This is definitely something I want to try soon, as I’m sure I have tons of yarn already that would be perfect for pooling.
Have you ever tried pooling with a Tunisian hook.? I am a seasoned crocheter, and have studied this pooling technique using the pooling program online, where you manually type in all of your stitch #s, and rows & colors, and it actually prints up what your article will look like. But I want try it with a long Tunisian hook. You do nice work, and thank you for a clear tutorial! Looking forward to seeing more of them.
Me too for the Tunisian version of color pooling. I love all things Tunisian, except that it uses more yarn than crochet or knitting. 😂 I wish they made cotton pooling yarn.
@@janbolton8528 I'll bet a cotton pooling yarn comes if there is more interest. Pooling has been around quite a while, but i see it taking off MORE in these last 4 yrs.

This is the best color pooling video I’ve seen! Definitely going to use this video as I work on my blanket. The way you’ve explained color pooling I think I FINALLY get it! Thank you, thank you!
This video was so clear. I appreciate you not rushing through the crochet row, but doing it slow enough to see the color on the hook and to where the shift happens. Now I finally get it, particularly the end of row turns that were messing me up. Your explanation made such sense. For this planned pooling yarn, how many rows will complete the pattern before it restarts?
I need to thank you. I've watched several videos on planned color pooling and your's is the one that actually made it click in my head. So thank you so very much! I'm using the same papaya yarn you are using. I firmly believe when I finish this blanket I will be able to move on to different RHSS color pooling yarn and achieve the same success. You're a fantastic instructor so keep up the GREAT work 😊.
I have been wanting to learning plan pooling. You have done a great job describing and showing the technique involved in getting a beautiful end result. Thank you! ❤
Hi sorry late to the planned pooling party crochet. I had hung up my hooks for a few years with arthritis. Got the surgery now I'm into it. I have some questions. 1. What do the sides of the project look with all those extra side stitches? 2. Is there a certain edging stitch? 3. I would like to see the part of the pooling where the colors are switching from one side to the other. I know it's optical illusion. However some explaining would be fantastic. Thank you. And I find your explanation on point. 😊
Thank you so much for this amazing video!! I'm trying to figure out how to use this pooling technique when you need to make something that is a specific length, as in a hat pattern. I totally understand now how to make a project bigger, but how to you make it smaller, please? The only hat pattern I've found is for a child, and I want to make one with color pooling for my adult son for Christmas. Thanks for your time and careful explanation so that I'm now itchin' to start stitchin'!!
Two weeks 50 videos and five froggings, finally found somebody who explains it correctly understanding color pooling counting stitches and properly turning the corners is a must and this lady gets it all done best teaching video out there. Is there other stitches besides three where you can color pool? Can you do something other than the moss stitch? I'm doing exactly the one in your video exactly the dylox not as pretty as yours but it's the same I'm also working on a red heart pink variegated I'm simply just counting the stitches each color will make and repeating that and it's doing as you said it's making a pattern but not as crisp and pretty as this but it is making a unique pattern thank you again
Oh my goodness, I've never watched a pooling video because it never interested me. Now after watching this, I know it's something I will stay away from. This seems to be stressful. My hats off to the folks that have the patience for color pooling.

Can you go in between the stiches and be ok or should you frog back to the error? Thank you for your help!!
You must have at least three stitches to get the right pattern, you can try with smaller hook and more tension. I often use two different sizes of hooks and the right tension to get the right amount of stitches. It's not easy at the beginning, I'm still learning and practicing a lot with planned pooling

Hope you can help us left handers as your video is so good and a great one for pooling could you somehow flip it for left handers on you tube as you can't when watching on tablet or on tv want to do so bad I'm not a quitter been crocheting a long time never had this happen thanks
Im going to try this. Have a question...is 3 the magic number to repeat with all yarns...what if I use a smaller hook and get 6 stitches per color. Is that ok?
You have to use a yarn that can be used with color pooling. It needs to be similar to the yarn I’m using in the video - the length of color change etc 😘
This is my first time trying this and I follow what your saying but no matter how loose I go I keep getting 4 with each color instead of 3. should i try a bigger hook?
@@CustomComfyCrochetByDawnMarie Last question, I promise, you chain by length and then build width, can it be reversed and still work, so chain the width you want and then build your length?
