That, in its essence, is fascism - ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or by any other controlling private power". Nigel Farrage sees what's really going on. Unfortunately that usually doesn't happen until the predicted disaster strikes. For instance, here in the US, our national debt to GDP ratio is currently about 124%. That's only happened once before in our history when we borrowed to finance the WWII war machine that defeated Germany and Japan, and then in 1945 it was still only 104%. The booming postwar US economy managed to pay that down, and Kennedy's massive tax cuts in the early '60s finished the job.
The current interest on our national debt is the largest single item in the Federal budget. It even exceeds defense spending! Any fool can see that this can't go on much longer before the whole house of cards collapses. The level of fraud and waste in government programs is immense. The wasted amounts alone exceed the GDP of many countries. Yet only a few politicians are raising the alarm, and they're being ignored or derided. The Keynsians are running the asylum. When it ends, it will be with a very big bang, not a whimper. (Apologies to T.S. Elliot.)

That said, I believe in total free speech, free thought, no censorship, no deplatforming, no debanking, no CBDCs, no Digital IDs, no mRNA vaccines. Also, I voted to remain in the EU, howevet after seeing how they behaved towards unvaccinated and their totalitarian attitudes, I'm glad we are nearly out. I will never vote Tory ever again but always have till now. I think most people have a strong sense of good vs evil and I believe we agree on that. It's wonderful to listen to people with true vision, I miss Tony Benn in that way, he was always interesting. As Nigel says, unless you build wealth in the country by hard work and efficiency, you cannot afford the nationalised utilities and services, or the NHS. And it needs somebody to clear out the useless tiers of middle management and email shufflers in most organisations, particularly the ones we pay for.

A very few years ago you would go into a shop and pay cash for anything without a second thought, but now there is a creeping tendency to view cash transactions as somehow dodgy. Whispers of "'Ello. Tax avoider." "Taxman won't be seeing that, then." I've even seen hints that you're somehow encouraging tax avoidance by paying cash, and it's borderline criminal to do so. What a bloody world!

    • @tomg3131

Cause half of them are stuck as being wage slaves to their employers and get paid a fixed monthly income which they get taxed to death on and then all their direct debits come out and they have nothing left resorting to credit cards to pay for everyday stuff. They see people with cash and think the worse when they defend a debt based lifestyle. Most of them are spineless to make the change. The stigma of tax avoidance has slowly disappeared when people see where all the tax money is going. Cash is king it combats more money being filtered into the hands of the elites and big gov while supporting small businesses and freedom
