  • Hi Witches!
In this video ~ Exploring Perimenopause - A Witch's Experience ~ we take a look at menopause, perimenopause, symptoms and management.
We make it witchy, and examine how (historically) moving into this period in a woman's life was deemed almost unnatural; and the terrible consequences of this mindset.
I talk about my own personal experiences, and share with you some coping strategies and tips for dealing with those perimenopause symptoms.

struggling through perimenopause, appreciate Ren opening up about this taboo subject. her honest sharing of personal experiences resonates deeply. lack of preparation and open discussion about perimenopause left me feeling isolated. glad Ren is shedding light on the stages and symptoms, fostering a more open dialogue. Aspect Health is paramount in navigating this journey, grateful for the candid conversation.

Thank you so much for such a lovely comment, and for your support in watching the video. I’m so sorry that you are struggling, I hope that this video has brought a teeny bit of comfort at least; you are certainly not alone. ♥️ Sending love and best wishes.

Loved this video Wren. ❤ I’m completely in agreement there needs to be more openness about this subject. You hear of red tent circles. …. We should start our own Silver tent circle ! 😂

That sucks that you do not have a supportive doctor. I have been very lucky with the family doctors that I have had in my life but have heard discouraging stories from those not as fortunate as I am. I have had my share of specialists and ER doctors and nurses not taking me seriously and the attitude that I'm a nuisance. I take names, keep records and when things get to a dangerous or high risk situation for me and the problem is discovered by someone who took me seriously (usually my family doctor), I have my records/notes right there and my doctor is on the phone to blast those who ignored my complaints.
Peri-menopause is so difficult for so many women. My periods were so unreliable and when they happened they were beyond heavy and painful that required me to get blood transfusions due to severe anemia from these periods. I was so low energy and fatigued all the time.

It’s such a shame when people are treated like a nuisance; I think that medical professionals forget that their first responsibility is to do no harm. I’m not surprised, though, with the huge underfunding of services; at least in our country. I think it’s a really good idea to take names and times and other general records. I do that but it doesn’t seem to help - once you get a bad name it sticks. It sounds like you have been through an absolute nightmare with your periods! 😮

I started peri at around 40, and it took me 5 years to get my GP surgery to take me seriously. I managed with supplements and a herbal approach for a while but eventually needed HRT as it was affecting me, and my immediate family, so negatively. The rage that came out of nowhere, the low mood (I started disappearing for hours at a time because I was so despairing), the aches and pains and quite serious joint weakness.
I could go on! HRT has really made a difference to me. While my GP was dreadful my surgery Nurse Practitioner can prescribe and is actually the meno expert. She is who I see for all of this. It might be worth you exploring that option at your surgery if you want to talk over your options.
Before HRT my medical herbalist was my saviour!

I am SO sorry you have encountered such resistance at the hands of your GP. I don’t know why they are like that! They always work from the angle of things being unlikely, but that means it’s still possible! I’m assuming they were like that because you were quite young, but that is just so wrong. I find Nurse Practitioners to be so much better. That’s a really good suggestion and one I will definitely think about, thank you! Thanks so much for adding your voice to the conversation, it really helps. ♥️

Thank you so much for putting this out into the world from an honest witch's perspective ❤
You touched on so many important points, I was watching the video going," YES! THAT IS HOW I FEEL!!
I am turning 46 in 9 days and for about the last 6 months I have felt that I have begun moving into Crone, which is totally fine with me! Funny that you brought up being a swamp witch because that's how I have referred to myself for the last few years 😅
I have dyed my hair for the last 4 years but in the last few months I have decided not to, and just enjoy life with gray hair and embrace the Crone.
I unfortunately had to have a partial hysterectomy when I was only 28. The surgeon left 1 of my ovaries in tact so that I wouldn't be thrown right into menopause so young, but didn't give me any information on how it would affect me later, so here I am now going," what in the hell is happening to my body?!" 😢 I have alot of distrust with Western medicine doctors as far as how they treat their patients( I had an absolutely horrific experience during hysterectomy time of life ) and what they use to medicate us with. I so wish that I could afford alternative health care.
Thank you for being so open and honest with us, and for using the energy to make the video. I feel like I could spend a fair bit of time talking about this issue with you, I have so much to say, so I'll stop myself from rambling on and on.
I wish you well, many blessings ❤ ✨️

Thank you so much for watching and for sharing your experiences on something so personal; in that way you are also helping to break down the stigma and support other women in their perimenopause journey. I’m so sorry you were left so unprepared when you had your partial hysterectomy. It always blows my mind how many areas of female health are treated that way; I had four miscarriages and not once were we given any real advice or support, just left to find out what would happen next. It is so wrong. I hope that this video and all our comments gets seen by a lot of people - I think it will really help others, so thank you for contributing. ♥️ Sending love and best wishes as always.

I really enjoyed this video! It was great to hear your take on peri menopause as it's something I'm starting to experience at 49. I always like your videos but this one particularly stood out to me because it was more like a chat between friends style. Hearing your opinion on peri menopause was very engaging and I'd love to see more videos like this. Sharing our own experiences and personal thoughts really progresses the connection between a viewer and a channel I think.

A chat with friends is how I want my channel to feel, that’s the angle I’m coming from, so that’s pleasing to hear. 😊 I hope you are not experiencing perimenopause too badly; everyone has such a different journey and I thank you for adding your voice to the conversation. ♥️

I'm celebrating you talking about this. I am a menstrual educator and things are changing for the better, but still so much further to go to 'unshame' a womens life cycle - it's the old story of the 'curse' which is the old witch wound still echoing.

Ahhh thank you so much. It's only because of my own experiences (so frustrating!) that I have any knowledge on this at all, but therein lies the problem! Thank you for the work that you do; it's really important.
Sorry for the tardy reply, by the way. In TWW71 I make some big announcements ahead of Monday 1st April (some great things for you guys!!!), which explain why I've been slow with filming and comments recently. Sending love and blessings! W. x

Thanks for such a great video. I'm 45 and was confirmed as being Peri last year. I feel as though I'm on a rollercoaster as my hormones are all over the place. I've tried talking to my boss so he is aware and he made a disgusting joke about preferring to play golf than support his wife through menopause. I can identify with what you said about having the decision about children made for you. I don't have children and am learning to accept that I probably never will, but that this doesn't define who I am. One thing though - you said about being tested to determine if a person is indeed Peri. My Dr said the test is pointless owing to hormones naturally fluctuating, and that it is a clinical diagnosis based on symptoms ❤

    • @the_cemetery_witch
      @the_cemetery_witch  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

I’m so sorry about your boss, and I’m sorry for his wife, too! No wonder this process is a million times harder than it needs to be; we’re underprepared, we find out it’s happening, and then the people around us are less than helpful! ☹️ I find it really quite shocking, but not at all surprising, that it’s 2024 and yet we still haven’t really come on as a species. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Interesting that your doctor said that about testing - it’s a really good point as I’m guessing that ten tests could yield ten different results…

My symptoms began around age 41. I expected menopause by late 40s as my mother was 48. I’m now 53 and have just missed a period, so fingers crossed ha ha
My thermostat has blown completely and I’ve grown a second stomach on top of the original pouch😂 plus my connective tissue issues are much worse. I have pain daily and can pull muscles for fun. Arthritis is setting in. Definitely into full crone now.

I’m so sorry you’re in pain. I really hope that this is the last bit! Fingers crossed for you! 🤞🏼 I wonder if the inner thermostat ever gets back to normal? This is the problem, we don’t get told anything, it’s almost like this is on purpose. This is something we need to change - thanks for adding your voice and sharing! ♥️

If ever there is a time in our lives to gather our women friends and the sisterhood around us, it's in this perimenopause phase. All the wee things come together to cause a variable blasing fire of symptoms (and hot flushes 😅).
Be gentle with yourself, we will get there together 💜

Yes being on contraceptives, it'll kind of hide the fact if you're perimenopausal or not (from what my doctor said to me). It's sad that doctors are like that. A lot of doctors are like that at the local hospital here.

Having been a crone for awhile now , the way I have embraced the change to my body and the struggle to shift weight and the white hair is I have noticed that I am more approachable to little children. My personal theory is as we are traditionally tribal creatures, the elder women have a very Important role in keeping the young safe. We are more rounded and soft so babies can snuggle and cuddle into our bodies and feel safe and secure while their mums are out “foraging” . I have so many young children smiling and noticing me while out shopping, is it that we are both at stages in life where we are invisible to society so we notice each other? I don’t know just random mussing🤷🏻‍♀️

I didn't know about the menstrual cycle until the day I started, we didn't have anyone at school talking or teaching about it. If I had questions, I asked my best friends mom or older sister as my mom barely told me the basics. I did gave that talk with my daughter before she started, just so she knew what to expect once she started and what she would experience. Once I was able to go into my doctors appointment on my own at 16 then I started asking him about it. I was told the younger you are when the cycle starts, the earlier you'll hit perimenopause. I now have a female doctor (my other doctor retired), she believes I started perimenopause in my mid 30's. I didhave a minor surgery done last year as the cycle and pains were absolutely awful!

I’m so sorry you weren’t prepared for your menses, I’m so glad that things have come on somewhat! This is why I think it’s important to broach this topic, so that the mystery of perimenopause starts to disappear. It’s good that you prepared your daughter, I think there are so many differences between the generations and that’s really good. ♥️
