The event was held over 2 days with 2 sessions, best 5 barra counted each session with a minimum length of 40cm. I fished the event with Josh Lowry from Samaki and Andrew McKinstray from AMCK Creative and before we got there Josh asked if we were going just for fun, or to be competitive… I told him I wanted to have fun and be competitive and that’s exactly what we did. Our first day was pretty much the pre fish as none of us had any idea what was happening up there. We were lucky enough to get some tips from Notso the local guru which point us in the right direction… Some fished well, others didn’t but all our best fishing come from the old “next bend syndrome” getting the better of us.
Big thanks to Tackleworld Weipa for running the even and congrats to the winners and all the entrants for making that experience what it was! Keen as for the next one!!
Pretty stoked for our team to come in at 7th overall and even more stoked we didn’t have to spend the night on the sand bar where we pushed our luck to get our better fish earlier in the day. It wasn’t until I blew the bib off my lucky (and only) Nomad Styx Minnow after countless fish, that I found the urgency to get out of there 😂 Plenty of laughs in this one so grab a beer, kick back and enjoy ✌🏻
