my cressi pump has a little hole and loses air while pumping. there is only pressure at the last 2 inches pumping, because the little hole is close to the bottom of the pump
Well done. There should be a manual that comes with it that tells you how many pumps you need. I'll get back to you when i've found mine. But i recommend just pumping it up to a pressure that you can easily load at - given that these are over powered anyway.
It should be able 300-320 pumps according to the manual. I suggest that you take out the rubber gasket out, and test to see how hard it is to load. Pump up or let air out till it is about right for you.
Nice video but a few things that are worth mentioning. First of all, you cannot add oil at whatever quantities and by not being precise, you are misleading people to add too much oil and you should be well aware what this can cause. Second, you are not mentioning what type of oil. Are you suggesting to use petroleum lubricants in a speargun that goes into the sea? And yes, it is sealed and whatever, but then again there should be certified lubricants for such use. Moreover, you should mention the Maker's specs and instructions.
I would use a silicone based oil or spray if you can get hold of it. In the past I have just used normal mineral oil but this can cause expansion of the o-rings.
I really thank you for your vid you made me to undeeg my 30 YEARS old mares sten 55mm I disassemble it and changed all the orings for the cost of 8euros.After a lot of search I found out that it is best to use W10 motorbike fork oil.
How many shots do you get before having to refill the gun with air? is it better than band? and is it hard to relode? how many shots do you get before reloding?
You get infinite number of shots as you don't loose any air each time. The air acts as a strong spring in a sealed system with a piston - much like the shock absorbers in you cars suspension. They are easier to reload than banded guns - and you can let some of the air out to suit if you still have difficulty. I think they are far better than banded guns in many ways - much more accurate most importantly. I was hitting everything over the spearing season here and it was an amazing season for me because of the gun. Would recommend the 70-100cm pneumatic guns the most. Can't miss!

you don't really need to do any sort of care for them. Maybe oil it with some Baby Oil once every few years but otherwise they are maintenance free. I am convinced that the reason why pneumatic spearguns are not as popular is because retailers don't make much money from them - whereas with the banded ones you always need new bands and other bits and pieces, and the spear can be bend easily etc. Unless someone convinces me otherwise i think you are a chump if you buy a banded one. If you look it up, banded ones were all the rage and then someone invented the pneumatic gun in the 60's or sometime to overcome all the problems you can get with the banded one. But they are too good, so like many technologies we have reverted back to what retailers can make more money off you through planned obsolescence. It is pumped full when it arrives from the factory. So you never need to pump it. You only need to pump it if you want to lower then raise the pressure again. Or, if you let the air out to do some maintenance or something. In the manual there are instructions on how many pumps you need to do to get a certain pressure. Although, you can also buy a pressure gauge.
I'm not quite sure what you mean. But, the gun is always ready to go with the air pressure supplied. Inserting the spear only adds a tiny amount of pressure into the gun because there is already so much air there. Does this help?
My reading tells me from the old Technisub Jaguar Piccolo manual to use Technisub lubricant and if that is not available use S.A.E 30 weight motor oil, 25cc worth to keep all things lubricated. Modern Nitrile or Viton o-rings are petroleum impervious and just a side note on pneumatic's, they are based on hydraulic rams such as dozers, tractors, back hoes etc.... Instead of a hydraulic pump, fluids cannot be compressed, only moved. It uses compressed air filling one chamber to to displacement of the spear mass in the other with oil behind it lubricating the piston and barrel yet at the same time the film is microscopically thin. Oh suck. Yeah you need the exact right size coin in that case. Else you could consider a large flathead screw driver, or grab it with some pliers. Thanks Paul, I'll give your suggestions a try (I've tried the very large screwdriver and a special key made for that slot, but the screwdriver boogered up the slot a bit)...I think next I'll try milling that slot out to 1/8 inch and making a key for it. Perhaps you could remove the plug from your gun and see if you can measure the thickness where the slot is. Maybe drop a piece of dowel in the plug and measure the outside of the dowel to the outside of the coin-slot and then subtract the dowel length. I'd like to get an idea of how deep I can mill that slot. I'll let you know how it goes, Jeff.

I keep the air in over winter and not found any problems with doing so. Usually just give it a look over and a few squirts of air at the beginning of the season. Happy hunting.
The spear simply slots into the piston inside the barrel of the spear gun. When you push the Spear in it stays in quite tightly but them pops out as soon as the gun is fired.
@@النحالالصياد the Spear just grips in and is held in place by friction because it is a very tight fit into the piston inside the barrel of the gun. You often have to pull it quite hard to get it out. Although it should pop out quite easily when the piston hits the end of the barrel i.e. when the gun is fired.
Hi. I used Baby Oil which is a mineral oil - not from plants. But i'm not sure that this is the best. You can buy oil online if they will deliver to your area for cheap.
I saw a lot of pneumatic spearguns on eBay just had a customer get one and they're saying the shaft won't go in at all I'm guessing the Piston that drives the shaft jammed at the muzzle do you have any recommendations
Well, most likely they are unable to move the piston that first bit due to insufficient force. When loading it, it is hardest to get it to move that first bit and then much easier to keep the speed up till it clicks. You can try putting the spear (with loader) on the ground and attempting to load it, or at least move it a bit, by pushing down on the speargun with your body weight. In any case, what i would recommend is letting out little bits of air until they can move the spear down into the gun. If there is something wrong, like the piston is truly jammed, then it should come loose once there is little pressure holding it in place. You may need to add some more pressure then to suit. It would probably only become jammed if someone fired it out of the water, not an oil issue. It is possible also to run into trouble if there is sand inside the gun, but this is unlikely with a new gun. 20bar is quite a lot of pressure, and requires a bit of strength to load. I have let the air out of my guns because they are too powerful at 20bar, so its ok to let out air to suit the strength of the person loading the gun.
Hi. I attach a keyring to a small hoop on the bottom of the gun. Then i tie the loader onto a carabiner and clip this onto the keyring. It is easy to clip the carabiner on and off in the water with my gloves on.
there are also plastic coil bracelets for keys that you can use to keep the loader on your arm. Loaders are cheap, I tend to carry 2, in case you use one, your spearfishing day does not need to end prematurely.
Hi Paul. I just bought a mares cyranao 1.1 hft 110. I have noticed you cannot put oil in the pump cause it doesn't unscrew out like some pumps do from the handle there is no screw cap to take off.. You will have to put only a little in at a time, maybe only a few drops just above the valve and pump that it. It doesn't need much if anything at all in the first few years. Can you load the gun in stages if on low power?
@PaulGarbettNZ thanks Paul. Yes I now gotten use to loading it by putting the handle on my foot. And on low power. I've had my. Technicsub for to long. And still brand new no scratches or marks. Bought it in the early 1990s.
Good question. You should use a synthetic (petroleum based) oil, not vegetable oil. I think you want thinner oil rather than thicker, because the shaft is moving at super high speed. You can buy specific oils for these guns online, but i ended up using plain old baby oil. Seems to work fine.
whats up man i have a problem with the spear it wont go into the gun and i havent tried your method yet do you think that oiling the gun is gonna fix it the problem strted while i was in the sea i shot fish and missed and the spear didnt go in my gun anymoore PLS help
I haven't had this problem myself, but it sounds like the shuttle is jamed in the end of the barrel. It could be because of sand in there, or possibly it ran out of oil when you were in the sea. The first thing i would try would be to let the air out of the gun so there is no pressure holding the shuttle in place, then try gently pushing in the spear. I suggest being gentle in case there is sand there. If so it would need to be washed out. I would definitely oil it either way.
alright ill try that but i dont know how to let the air out my dad had it for a few years now ad he gave it to me so i dont know how to let the air go pls respond
If its an old gun it will definitely need oil. To get air out you need to unscrew the plastic bung at the rear end of the gun. You should see a small valve in there that uses a small ball bearing. You stick something narrow like a paper clip, needle, pen tip - in there to depress the valve and let air out. Take it all the way down. Fix your gun, then pump back up. Most guns should have a pump that comes with it. Should be 18-20bar. Might be difficult without proper pump if you don't have one. Might need to get an adapter and use car tyre pump then.
man youre the best i did all the information and fixed it i just need to oil it and its done you just saved my summer thank you so much and ofcourse i subscribed

Good question. You should use a synthetic (petroleum based) oil, not vegetable oil. I think you want thinner oil rather than thicker, because the shaft is moving at super high speed. You can buy specific oils for these guns online, but i ended up using plain old baby oil. Seems to work fine.
motorcycle fork oil
whats up man i have a problem with the spear it wont go into the gun and i havent tried your method yet
do you think that oiling the gun is gonna fix it
the problem strted while i was in the sea i shot fish and missed and the spear didnt go in my gun anymoore
PLS help
SMOKE WEED i have the same problem man
I haven't had this problem myself, but it sounds like the shuttle is jamed in the end of the barrel. I would definitely oil it either way.
alright ill try that but i dont know how to let the air out
my dad had it for a few years now ad he gave it to me so i dont know how to let the air go
pls respond
If its an old gun it will definitely need oil. To get air out you need to unscrew the plastic bung at the rear end of the gun. You should see a small valve in there that uses a small ball bearing. You stick something narrow like a paper clip, needle, pen tip - in there to depress the valve and let air out. Take it all the way down. Fix your gun, then pump back up. Most guns should have a pump that comes with it. Should be 18-20bar. Might be difficult without proper pump if you don't have one. Might need to get an adapter and use car tyre pump then.
man youre the best i did all the information and fixed it i just need to oil it and its done
you just saved my summer
thank you so much and ofcourse i subscribed
Someone told me you're supposed to store pneumatic spearguns with the muzzle down is this true
The manual says to store them with the muzzle UP. I'm not sure what difference it makes though. Maybe there needs to be more oil in the trigger mechanism or something.
It's true, because the o-rings get dry and sometimes the piston can corrode (eg Sl Star).
