    Great comment about the brushes making the difference and that synthetic or not isn't really the ultimate game changer. Yeah, I do overwork sometimes too. Your "save" is very lovely, particularly the emotion in the eyes, sharp nose and tense lips 👍

    Very interesting and for me I must admit that I really like the very playfull, very dancing first try that you then correct. I can see how you make it more “ photolike” and loose a bit of the charming very free dancing vibrational feeling. It seems to be a very delicate dynamic balance and maybe stylistic preference. I am just wild with your most playfull, nearly “ dancing” brushwork 💗

    working at Ford as a mechanical designer, Ford began a program which was at its start a failure. Imagine a program called, "structured inventive thinking". Can you imagine an idea more doomed to fail??

    Basically every portrait I have painted so far has gone through this process, because I'm still a beginner. And every time it's because I get lazy with the process and the rules and put paint on canvas without intent. And every time the only way to bring it back is to stop and do what I knew I was supposed to do from the beginning. Check the drawing and the values against my reference in photoshop, slow down and start painting again with intent. Often I even take a break for a few days or a week, let the paint dry and start fresh so I can get a new wet layer that's more comfortable to work with. But then there's the danger of not following fat over lean too well as I'm bad at keeping the amount of oil consistent in a layer...

    What type of panels do you use please?

  • @marcy4227

    As an amatuer, I've just ruined one. My problem is the painting is too wet so the paint just slides about. I left the first layer with turpentine to dry. The second layer i used no medium. The third i used just a hint of medium, yet still it's too wet for me to continue and i think it looks a mess! What do I do without throwing it away?!! And by the way the other studio painters must think you're also excellent because you sure are!

    I was wondering… How do you display these paintings on boards? A simple unfinished ready made frame costs almost 50 dollars online. I am painting every day, so I have accumulated a few decent paintings, but they are not worth framing at that price.

      Hi, Artsie! When we talk about art, we have to forget money. In this case, Chelsea is approaching philosophic points beyond technical issues....

    • @RodrigoVdacosta
      @RodrigoVdacosta ปีที่แล้ว

      Just so, Chelsea's work is not craftsmanship - that's why PHILOSOFY is important.
      About the framing, this should help to bring out the main thing: the painting. When we think about the PHENOMENON OF INDUCTION, the most most of the problem is solved. And the effectiveness of framing doesn't have to be expensive; expensive is the sensitivity and knowledge that make it possible to choose the right frame.

    • @RodrigoVdacosta
      @RodrigoVdacosta ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok, Life! For me, philosophy supports all human reasonables matters. Philosophy is everywhere, when we want to think.
      So, intentional or not, Chelsea -also in this case- proposes to think...
