I have a similar story. My mom died in 2016 right before I turned 16. My momma taught me a lot, but she didn't teach me how to live without her. She had heart problems and she didn't make it out of recovery.
I'm so sorry for the loss of your precious mother, especially at such a young and crucial age where us girls need our Momma's the most! I lost my Gram to cancer and my husband lost his mother to brain cancer in Jan of 2015, I just hate cancer it takes so many people and its not fair! I'm so glad at such a young age you can look at it in a positive way though, that's amazing and I hope you keep that peace knowing she's in a much better place with our Father ❤ God bless you honey, best of luck on your journey. Hi there Carrie, Well let me start by saying I love ALL your music, always have. I'm originally from New York and everyone's always surprised I have such a passion for country music. I say that's where the real talent is, in country music. So I have a few favorites of yours, like "See You Again", "Jesus Take the Wheel", and a big favorite would be "Mama's Song". Those 3 really hit home for me. Let me explain why. Well my mom first got a very rare aggressive cancer when I was in 7th grade. After 5 years of battling it (my senior year of high school) she just couldn't fight it anymore and passed away November 21st, 2010- 5 days after her 53rd birthday. (I first saw your video for “Mama’s Song” around the time of my Mom’s last days, very touching song for me) My mom was the strongest person I know, I wish I got to have more time with her, but I know she's in a better place. I always miss my mom, but I find myself a lot more lately really needing/wanting her around. After I graduated high school, with the help of my siblings and teachers, I up and moved out here to Idaho. I have a sister whose lived here 7 years now, and my dad who moved after my Mom's passing. I moved out here December of 2012, so it's been a little over a year. I needed to get away, and have a fresh start. I've accomplished so much since the move. It's pretty hard not having my mom around to share and tell her all about my experiences. But fairly soon here (196 days to be exact) I will get to have another mother figure in my life, a mother in law, who I get along with so well. Yup, I'll be getting married. I met the man of my dreams, a couple weeks after I moved here. We were both playing on the same church league volleyball team, and let's just say we hit it off from there. All the words and things said in "Mama's Song" fit him in so many ways, that it's crazy to me. At first I was having a hard time just picking 1 song to have when I walk down the aisle with my dad (I had a lot in mind) but as soon as I played that one, I burst into tears. I just knew it was the right one. A song that has to do with a lady finding the man of her dreams and her mama being there for her to go through it all and knowing that he will take care of her daughter. That day will be hard on me, not having my Mom there. But when I listen to this song, I feel like it would let my mom know, that I got a good guy and he will always take care of me. I want my mom to know that. I love the thought of her smiling down at us on that day, every day. I originally wanted a live band for when I walk down the aisle, but then I really want "Mama's Song" to be the one. I have a really big question/favor for you, or anyone who reads this.... Having you there to sing that song as I take my steps to my future as I walk down that aisle would just mean the world to me! :) In my opinion you have a voice of an angel. I admire you, your songs, and the way you put so much into it. I have yet to see you in concert (haven't come around my towns yet) so what better way to have a first performance of someone than on your wedding day, something to be remembered and cherished forever. I wish my Mom could've met mine. She did meet him, but cancer had spread to her brain and she wasn't all there. She and I were fighting about her being able to drive or work with me the whole time he was over. She had a heart attack and passed that night. At least my last words were "I know you think I'm taking your keys to be mean but its because I love you too much to let you get behind the wheel of a 2 ton death machine." It was one of the few times I told her I loved her. She was my best friend and I was so lost when I lost her. We called each other multiple times a day. We ran our business together. We did everything together. She helped me raise my son. I'm still a little lost and I feel a big hole now that I'm expecting my second.

I came really close to dying not to long ago and realize how precious life is. The only thing I could think of were my boys. I kept begging the doctors and nurses, Please don't let me die, I have 2 boys I need to make it home to, It was so scary and still it. I struggle everyday from the effects of what I have been through, My poor boys should never had to go through what they have been through at their age. Treasure every moment with your kiddos. Life can change in an instant. I will never be who I once was. I feel guilty about that every single day. Not as much do I feel for myself as I do for my boys and my husband. My mom is in her 70s and has advance dementia and survived not getting Covid during the pandemic. It was such a special moment, it meant so much to share with her and I’ll always cherish it. Many of my wedding guests told me they had tears during our dance. This song was so heartfelt and was so personal for the relationship her and I have. When I play this cut, I think of how incredible the circle of life truly is. For Mrs. Underwood to become connected to the show "American Idol" and become a winner is spectacular. Mr Simon Cowell has been the bridge for many people in the life of this show, and I would credit this show with finding her talent. It was still up to Ms. Underwood to inevitably perform and gain the popular votes needed to become a champion. And in fact, with someone to recognize you in any job description is a blessing from God Himself. Music is so important no matter where you're from and has been given wisely to gain people's enthusiasm about life and it's times in all cultures. I'm just so grateful that through others, whom God has chosen to put into these leadership roles, a domino affect can take form and in turn affect the lives of others, if those chosen, to "pay it forward." It is so vital that those appointed to these positions "always" look for and "pass the torch" onto other qualified individuals to keep the "circle of life" going. Then others can have the chance to capture and thrill us the same Way Mrs. Underwood and many others have done. I feel the emotion when I play this song and feel that most Mothers and Daughters will cross over this path in their lives. From my perspective, not trying to sway anyone in my direction, I feel a comment is due. I feel like this is one in a group of songs that are the best that she has ever done. I have a similar story. My mom died in 2016 right before I turned 16. My momma taught me a lot, but she didn't teach me how to live without her. She had heart problems and she didn't make it out of recovery.

I lost my Gram to cancer and my husband lost his mother to brain cancer in Jan of 2015, I just hate cancer it takes so many people and its not fair! Well let me start by saying I love ALL your music, always have. I'm originally from New York and everyone's always surprised I have such a passion for country music. I say that's where the real talent is, in country music. So I have a few favorites of yours, like "See You Again", "Jesus Take the Wheel", and a big favorite would be "Mama's Song". Those 3 really hit home for me. Let me explain why. Well my mom first got a very rare aggressive cancer when I was in 7th grade. After 5 years of battling it (my senior year of high school) she just couldn't fight it anymore and passed away November 21st, 2010- 5 days after her 53rd birthday. (I first saw your video for “Mama’s Song” around the time of my Mom’s last days, very touching song for me) My mom was the strongest person I know, I wish I got to have more time with her, but I know she's in a better place. I always miss my mom, but I find myself a lot more lately really needing/wanting her around. After I graduated high school, with the help of my siblings and teachers, I up and moved out here to Idaho. I have a sister whose lived here 7 years now, and my dad who moved after my Mom's passing. I moved out here December of 2012, so it's been a little over a year. I needed to get away, and have a fresh start. I've accomplished so much since the move. It's pretty hard not having my mom around to share and tell her all about my experiences. But fairly soon here (196 days to be exact) I will get to have another mother figure in my life, a mother in law, who I get along with so well. Yup, I'll be getting married. I met the man of my dreams, a couple weeks after I moved here. We were both playing on the same church league volleyball team, and let's just say we hit it off from there. All the words and things said in "Mama's Song" fit him in so many ways, that it's crazy to me. At first I was having a hard time just picking 1 song to have when I walk down the aisle with my dad (I had a lot in mind) but as soon as I played that one, I burst into tears. I just knew it was the right one. A song that has to do with a lady finding the man of her dreams and her mama being there for her to go through it all and knowing that he will take care of her daughter. That day will be hard on me, not having my Mom there. But when I listen to this song, I feel like it would let my mom know, that I got a good guy and he will always take care of me. I want my mom to know that. I love the thought of her smiling down at us on that day, every day. I originally wanted a live band for when I walk down the aisle, but then I really want "Mama's Song" to be the one. I have a really big question/favor for you, or anyone who reads this.... Having you there to sing that song as I take my steps to my future as I walk down that aisle would just mean the world to me! :) In my opinion you have a voice of an angel. I admire you, your songs, and the way you put so much into it. I have yet to see you in concert (haven't come around my towns yet) so what better way to have a first performance of someone than on your wedding day, something to be remembered and cherished forever. I know you are a very busy lady, with lots going on, but if there was a chance that you could come on over to Jerome, Idaho and sing that song as I'm walking down the aisle, that would be so very much appreciated, I can't think of any words great enough to show my appreciation. I wish my Mom could've met mine. She did meet him, but cancer had spread to her brain and she wasn't all there. She and I were fighting about her being able to drive or work with me the whole time he was over. She had a heart attack and passed that night. At least my last words were "I know you think I'm taking your keys to be mean but its because I love you too much to let you get behind the wheel of a 2 ton death machine." It was one of the few times I told her I loved her. She was my best friend and I was so lost when I lost her. We called each other multiple times a day. We ran our business together. We did everything together. She helped me raise my son. I'm still a little lost and I feel a big hole now that I'm expecting my second.

I struggle everyday from the effects of what I have been through, My poor boys should never had to go through what they have been through at their age. Treasure every moment with your kiddos. Life can change in an instant. I will never be who I once was. I feel guilty about that every single day. Not as much do I feel for myself as I do for my boys and my husband. Lost my mom prematurely december 2019. She finally found the right guy and they married july 1993 my husband and i got married October 1993. We celebrate 30 years Monday. Neither of them made it. 😢
