How did Sapp manage to beat up Ernesto Hoost twice in K-1 is the biggest mistery.
simple, size matters a lot in fights, people say it doesn't and they usually give shitty comparison when somebody much smaller who has a lot of skill beats somebody bigger with almost 0 skill. But somebody way bigger with just a decent amount of skill will beat a good fighter who is smaller. I am just 6'1, but once i fought like a full match with guy who was like 5'7 but had an actual k-1 record like 9-2, he wanted to prove the skill matters way more. Now i am training like 1 day a week at max, the fighting, but i am natually way bigger then this guy i fought. Yes , he had some control at the beginning, but second round i totally wrecked him from the outside, he was good but to small, even when he fought distance he didn't that much damage to make it significant so he got tired.
@@DaddyOKaboom He really could’ve won those fights if he had just fought smarter. In typical Hoost fashion, he was leg kicking the shit out of Sapp which was working. He even knocked him down in the second fight. But his downfall was that he decided to trade blows with him instead of sticking and moving. You can only take so many punches from a man that’s 300+ pounds even if you’re a fellow heavyweight.

Only so much: Many ppl call Sapp a clown and think Mike Tyson would beat him even in MMA rules with ease. No question Tyson would destroy him in Boxing and imo also beat him in K-1, but MMA is different. I dont see how Tyson could avoid the take down and land on the floor.
@@chrisbach1533 Tyson had tremendous uppercut and bob sapp is not that fast on his take down. I mean it's not like he is a wrestler. Also if they are using 4 once gloves, Tyson would be faster and hit harder that with boxing gloves.

@@Tomy-im8zl Watch the fight Sapp vs Le Banner and see how lucky Jerome was to avoid the takedown. They fought under mixed rules, round 1, 3 and 5 were K-1 rules, rounds 2 and 4 MMA rules. Le Banner dominated the K-1 rounds, Sapp dominated the MMA rounds. It isnt that Tyson has no chance against Sapp in MMA, but its also not the case Tyson would easy beat Sapp in MMA.

This is when people had no experience and thought just because he was big and as big as he is, he would dominate.
He was a monster at one point, almost beat a prime Minotauro in MMA and beat Ernesto Hoost twice. After Cro Cop broke his orbital, he was never the same.

Such poor form from Sapp...worst trait is when he hides in a corner like a kid thinking he can't see me! The 2nd round showed Sapp's strong point...ground and pound. But when vertical, he just has a weak stance, just covering up like if I cannot see you you cannot hit me! And what is with this turning his back to opponent?? He is like a bull, good for one charge and then the battery is dead.

Weight sadly stops being an advantage when you are over 150 kg. Tyson could have kept up longer but he wasn't as good as he was in 2000s.

Did Sapp actually train at a serious gym consistently for years? With the same coach? He got some good wins. But I feel like if he just rolled under a few shots on the way in, and threw 1-3 hard hooks then rolled out. Then after a few deep breaths rince and repeat, he would have knocked out a lot of guys. Instead of just running in and doing whatever he does.

Bob Sapp is so big he just sits up to reverse Lebanner from a flat back position. Lol. No technique at all. Just pure brute strength. People say Sapp was not a good fighter but pumping iron is just as much about training as technique. I think if Bob really wanted to he could put all his opponents on the ground and finish them. He was at a disadvantage having to fight standup in nearly all his fights. Even here he chose to stay on his feet mostly to put on a show for the crowd. Fighting has gotten more fake ever since the original UFC. Weight divisions have ruined it too. Guys not bulking up with muscle anymore because they want to fight at lower weight. I say bring back an open weight division and not break up fights when they go to the ground.
@Lucius Andrellius - In the early days of MMA, grapplers and wrestlers easily took their stand-up opponents to the ground. Nowadays, MMA fighters are much more well-rounded, so it's more difficult. It's not that easy to take someone down if they know how to defend against it - e.g sprawl. Also, it's risky to attempt a take-down because your opponent is trained to recognize it and will hit you with a punch or kick before you can fully close the distance and wrap your arms around them. Lastly, attempting a take-down uses a lot of energy, so you end up not trying again and again in vain if it doesn't work, for fear of gassing yourself out and making yourself vulnerable.
Weight divisions are essential these days, because like I said, everyone is more knowledgeable and well-rounded these days. Gone are the days when a small savvy guy can out-maneuver and choke out a much larger opponent who's naive and inexperienced.
