I was playing a casual negative% run this weekend and found the early orange TP and was really disappointed to see it was blocked by ice missiles. I also really hope that sequence break becomes possible because I think it could enable some really crazy skips - I haven’t looked beyond that room but you could get to late ghavoran without speed booster which was absolutely not intended
The cool thing is seeing the game still work when “broken”. It’s as if it’s anticipated with things such as the canon destroying the fire reefs and yet it makes the game more interesting rather than ruin it. This game is special.
I'm wondering if they're just programmed to be destroyed by things above some sort of threshold. I remember some endgame ability also destroying them, but I can't remember if it was Screw Attack, or Power Bombs
The ice beam in Metroid Fusion was similar; if you used cheats to give yourself the ice beam, it actually did function like a beam upgrade with scaled up damage against all enemies. Pretty neat, considering they didn’t need to program that
Using save editing you can give yourself beams without giving yourself the ones before it, however there is no unique beam stacking just like Fusion or Samus Returns because you're not supposed to be able to get one without the ones before. So basically, the Plasma Beam has the Wide Beam function built in and replaces it, and the Wave Beam has the Wide and Plasma Beam functions.
@@Swordsmage: disappointing, but not surprising. Shame though, it could have been neat if they'd included the classic unstacked wave beam, even if only as nearly impossible to get easteregg.
@@Swordsmage so it's like Fusion where you can't get certain power ups off order because the game forces you to collect them in a certain order (core X) Since Fusion is mostly linear gameplay with scripted scenarios, it expects you to have xy amounts of powers at certain parts of the game in order to progress
Alright so you aim toward the central core, I assume this is because you never destroyed the central core dore. My question is, what if you destroy the door and clip out? Does that change anything? What if you go into the room where you're supposed to kill the EMMI, then back into the core room and clip out then? Cause during the EMMI fight you can aim in either direction.
Destroying the Central Unit Door, then clipping out seals all exits and begins the destroy EMMI sequence like normal (but you are in the wrong room). You need to clip out without destroying the door so that the exits remain open.
Another few things of note from someone who just got this after hours and hours of trying and has been dicking around with it 1) The Omega Blaster shot can destroy missile doors and activate Storm Missile Block targets. Haven't tested if it destroys super missile doors though. 2) (EDIT: read the end of this point) I have no idea what causes you to get it so using the Omega doesn't put you at that slanted view as shown here. Whenever I used it it puts me in the slanted view when I was in Ghavoran or Ferenia. Then suddenly I take the elevator to Dairon and the slanted view is go-WAIT NVM I GOT IT. It must have to do with if an EMMI is alive in that area. Duh lmao 3) If you leave Ghavoran and come back then that obnoxious red light and alarm noise you had to sit through for hours learning shine sink clip comes back no matter what room in the area you're in :/ 4) If you have the regular 2D camera view and you start the omega stream from a running start, thats the only way to get the arm cannon flaps to open (and it doesn't always work... It's a little finicky), and they get stuck that way until you arm a super missile shot, shoot the regular beam or charge the omega blaster. 5) Omega stream and blaster can reveal what kind of block a hidden block is (ie bomb, speedboost or power bomb block). This along with point 1) suggests that Omega has missile properties
this sounds so interesting and if it could be done sooner the amount of shenanigans not just in a speedrun would be incredible. though i wonder, since it works like a ice beam what other beam/missile properties do omega laser and blast get maybe just skip all the beam upgrades with it?
Has anyone tested the omega stream on the Hyper beam door? Considering hyper beam breaks an EMMI heatshield, it would make sense that the omega stream could break a hyper beam door....
On the subject of skip/glitches,, There's a demo of this game that let's you play up to just after you get the magnet-power, but l was wondering what would happen if you (could) glitch your way past that specific trigger. If you do, could you play the entire game as long as you don't go there? l'm looking for the same kinda effect as the brawl-oot demo,, since l do think the entire game gets downloaded for the demo
I did Phantom Cloak early in the demo, and it resulted in odd audio glitches and then a crash. I’m not sure if that’s what everyone has experienced from doing this, but it seems like there’s some sort of parameter set to prevent the whole game from being playable.
@@seffersonn8559 If I had to guess, the reason the demo crashes is because it tries to play the FMV for the phantom cloak tutorial even though it wasn't included in the demo's data, and this causes the game to run into an unhandled exception.
Could a ball warp be used to steal the 1st emmi cannon? I don't know if it persists through cutscenes, but I know it'll last through emmi doors, and because you need morph ball in order to get to the teleporter anyways, so if it works that'd be sick
Obviously not for Speedrun reasons, but I'm wondering what would happen if you used some clip at the end of the game. Could you use the hyper beam outside of the finale somehow? Would saving and resetting keep the hyper beam or deactivate the final timer?
Another question is if the Omega Steam has the same properties as the Hyper Beam, has the Hyper Beam can also break EMMI faceshields. Would that also mean that you could destroy the wall near the end of the escape sequence, allowing you to skip Raven Beak entirely by doing the escape glitch?
It’s really just as easy as looking for it and banging your head against a wall, then curiosity after. It just starts by someone saying “Let’s see what happens if I try to do as many things as I can at once.” Then try it a bunch of times in different orders. “Oh I clipped through the floor. Cool.” “Where is this useful? Oh maybe we can smuggle the Omega Cannon out.” “Now that I have the Omega Cannon out… I wonder how it reacts with x, y, and z?”
Doesn't the first cannon soft lock you if you skim the emmi? (also it doesn't have stream, though that isn't horribly problematic for the skip you would want it for)
I hated that sun, Raven Beak covers the ground pretty well with the attacks he uses during the sun’s presence, and the sun covers way too much of the sky.
Holy Crap... If you freeze frame the Raven Beak fight at certain spots, RB looks like Ridley (e.g., the cannon looks like Ridley's head is facing left at 4:06 and 4:09).
They haven't patched any sequence breaking glitches yet (they've only fixed softlocks and similar errors that may result from the glitches), so I don't expect them to make this impossible either.

Well idk if there’s a skip in place, more likely would be some hose hacking the game to skip it and seeing what happens

If you clip to the phantom cloak boss, you can fight him and then the game crashes.
