A truly exciting performance! I'm a bassist and love when basses play with might. Leonardo Lopes certainly rose to the occasion here in one of my favorite (and highly under-performed) pieces for strings. It's also wonderful to be able to *hear* the second violin part as well as both violas... and played so well! The cello (I realize this is your channel!) interpreted that second movement really beautifully. Well done to all!

Tchaikovsky's String Sextet is scored for two violins, two violas and two cellos. So why is there a double bass instead of the second cello? Very strange.

Hello Tim, thank you for listening and for your comment. There isn’t much chamber repertoire for the bass so anytime you can find arrangements to include a bass player, I highly recommend taking that chance. It adds a unique listening experience for the listener and musicians that are apart of it. We got the arrangement from a professor at Rice and saw a few videos that used a double bass. On top of this, we had an amazing time making music together and work well as colleagues. Thank you again for your feedback.

@@thomaslamon1663 Thank you for explaining the change of instrument. Despite the purist in me questioning the change, the performance presented here of this thrilling work is very good indeed.
