    If Comac's jets are cheaper, then maybe some smaller airlines scoop up the 929 to gain entry into the wide body market-but legacy and the big Middle Eastern and African airlines won't be phased and most low/lower cost carriers already have their heart set on a specific jet-not saying a new low-cost airline outside of China could pick the 919, they probably would have a larger curve to overcome from all angles (Industry people, AvGeeks or somehow mass transit adjacent types, and General Public)

Also, it can easily put barriers to Airbus and Boeing in China, if EU and US decide to create hurdles for it's COMAC certification. • @MkurugenziMwenyekiti
      @MkurugenziMwenyekiti ปีที่แล้ว +3

      _"Given the reputation of Chinese made products...."_
      Having a homegrown aircraft manufacturer is a matter of national pride, and that's something a national government is keen about. That's why in the Bombardier v Boeing matter of the CSeries sale to Delta, both Canadian and US governments were embroiled in a mini trade war with new taxes and levies for certain aeronautical products across board.
      Having established the shallow pride of having a domestic plane maker, it is of the Chinese government interests to make sure the Comac is a safety success. And if they make and sell like a thousand planes domestically that stick their landings, and those planes are priced reasonably well, it is not outside the realm of possibility that low-cost airlines _globally_ would take an interest. The US may not like or buy the plane, but the rest of the world doesn't care about that. And if EASA certifies the plane , then quite literally the sky is the limit for the newcomer.

    Competitive prices? It's simply outrageous to expect customers to pay 300 million for a 777 or 340. If any other two companies offered such prices, customers would be livid about the excessive backlog of 4-7000 orders that would take over a decade to fulfill, assuming no additional orders were placed. If I were to place an order for an A340 or 777X, I wouldn't anticipate receiving it before 2030 at the earliest. Both Boeing and Airbus urgently need to construct additional facilities, and considering their financial resources, allocating 1 billion dollars shouldn't be a significant hurdle. My suggestion would be for Boeing to establish manufacturing sites in Texas, the Mid West, and the North East, while Airbus should consider building facilities in major countries like England, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Poland, and Italy. By doing so, Boeing could address their backlog of 4000 orders, and Airbus could catch up on its 7000 orders. If, for instance, there were 500 back orders and I placed my order for a 340/350 or 777/787, knowing that I might receive it in February of the following year when ordering in June, it wouldn't frustrate me as much. However, waiting for a decade to receive just 100 planes? It's utterly unacceptable. It would be more practical to purchase a 10 to 15-year-old wide-body Boeing or Airbus jet and update it to modern standards.

      The 340 endeded production years ago. Airlines don't actually pay the list prices in a vast majority of cases. 40-60% discounts are the norm on orders of size.

      You’re hilarious if you think $1 billion is even remotely enough to build more facilities. It would take tens of billions for that to occur and Airbus and Boeing would rather spend that money in R&D and designing future planes.

      @@FlyByWire1 Future Planes that'll take a decade to deliver the first one. Yeah, they'd be better suited towards building aircraft that they know work than spending money on aircraft that may only give 15% Improvements. How about the catch up on those backorders before they fund R&D. They'd find themselves a whole bunch of cash if they delivered even 30% of their backorders.

      @@swornthekillerintown because they have to balance their spending between building current orders and researching and developing for the future. Because if they fall behind in research because they’re so focused on increasing output, then they’d be at a disadvantage in 10 to 20 years when airlines are looking to replace the planes they spent all their money trying to build quickly. For someone who doesn’t even know the A340 isn’t in production, I think this topic is a bit too advanced for you.

      @@FlyByWire1 The a340 isn't in production because Airbus failed on it. Secondly, I never said they were supposed to go all in on Production and just leave R&D hanging. But to spend billions on marginal improvements and then when you want to build a facility you push it on the tax papers rather than using a massive war chest worth of money they have.

    That's because Airbus steals aircraft design and claims it to be there own when it in fact is a Bombardier and is currently outperforming the A319neo. I will always loathe Airbus especially taking credit for an aircraft they did not create.

      are you slow or what? Airbus themselves said the Bombardier C series (now known as A220) is made in Canada, so how are you saying they steal design?
      Also it's Boeing fault because they protested the C series being too competetive, with dumping also applied, making C series get 300% tarriffs, leaving Airbus buying major stake of the C Series, making it A220
