Despite how hard times can be, movies always remind us how truly special and creative we can be. I saw Oppenheimer in IMAX 70mm and The Boy and Heronin, and both reignited my love for this form of art. It's always nice to have a formal discussion about movies in general, both old and new. We should never give up hope on movies no matter how disappointing they can be. I can't wait to see Dune 2 and Shelby Oaks! Also, if you can, try seeing Dune 2 in IMAX 70mm. It'll be so worth it!
I finally watched One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest during the pandemic shutdown, and like 10 times since. You are absolutely right about Brad Dourif steeling the show. I don't think there is any greater disparity between talent level and amount of leading rolls than Dourif's career (don't even know if that sentence makes sense but I'm sticking with it). One of the few I've seen where he does play the lead is Wise Blood from 1979. If you have not seen it, I highly recommend it. I found and ripped a great quality copy of TH-cam. Anyway, excellent and enjoyable video. Good luck on your movie journey. May you get more thinkers than stinkers. Cheers.
Oh man, I LOVE Louise Fletcher! Such a talent! She was so good at playing the villain! It's hardly surprising she won an Academy Award for her role in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Imo, she did just as good a job playing Kai Winn in Star Trek DS9. You just LOVED to hate her! She was so good at playing a villain who was somewhat unassuming and mulit-faceted... but an evil villain thru and thru! Yet, by all accounts, she was an incredibly nice and sweet person to anyone who met her in real life! It's such a shame she's no longer with us 😔
Im trying to read a lot more this year. I did quite a bit last year, but this year i want to broaden my horizons by tackling classics, especially since i self published a book last October. I have a few classics ready to be read including 1984! we saw Godzilla Minus One as my fiancé LOVES Godzilla and as a Godzilla noobie, i really enjoyed it!
I love Arsenic and Old Lace. I went on a Cary Grant binge and watched a bunch of his comedies (His Girl Friday, so fun, I Was a Male War Bride, way less fun than it should have been). And Arsenic and Old Lace is just hilarious.
