One thing that's really amazing is that you can see Dark Souls all the way back into King's field. Kingsfield especially the early ones are basically if you took Dark Souls tried to put it on the PS1 and made it a first person game same dark Labyrinthian world, same creepy NPCs with vague lore, plenty of mysteries hidden in secret coves and behind illusionary walls. The games are definitely feeling clunky nowadays but if anybody wants to give them a go and see what Dark Souls would have been like back then I highly recommend it. Although you need to remind some of the controls to give it modern FPS controls because that's one thing that's not fun about the PS1
I used to lament the drop in difficutly in games around the early 2010s... I eventually got a PS3, but, like Ben Yahtzee Crawshaw, I too was a latecomer to the way of From Software! I'd heard of its legendary difficulty and picked up the Prepare to Die Edition cuz I don't mess about in 2019 (told you I was a latecomer) and started it, but, a dodgy controller... Lockdown came eventually to the UK and I was finally able to clear Halo 3's and Halo 3:ODST's Campaigns Solo Legendary and so picked Dark Souls back up! Now, I am only missing the Obsidian Greatsword and that is literally it! I also managed to get Dark Souls II Scholar of the First Sin on PS3, no thanks to CEX and well, let's jus say that's TWO From Software games I have the Platinum Trophy for! And have beaten all the Bosses on, including DLC! I now have both Prepare to Die and Scholar of the First Sin on 360, Remastered on Switch and Steam, Scholar of the First Sin on Steam as well and the Trilogy on both PS4 and Xbox One, cuz I don't mess about! And I also have Bloodborne digitally ofrom PSN, plus the DLC! Again, don't mess about! Oh, and I did eventually get a new PS3 controller, by the way, only after I got those two Platinum Trophies!
This could be a new serie next to ranking all the games list. Kind of “all tour history belong to us” feel from machinma (or however you wrote it) back in the day :)
Dark Souls and FromSofts tale is the modern version of the final fantasy story. A studio that went all in on a gamble and changed the video game landscape.
This title filled me with dread. I expected to say "just watch the Matt McMuscles documentary" as I was so disappointed in the ET one you did for being too short and missing out so much context and information. However, I was wrong, this was a massive improvement, didn't just repeat the same info as Matt, and had more interesting info. Still trying to cram in into such a short time makes it feel rushed, but yeah, this was much better
I don’t any recent gen consoles. I played my first souls game a few months ago with DS2. It was “okay” and the story was vague. Was told DS1 was better so I checked it out and was not disappointed. I plan to eventually give DS2 another go but I find myself diving back in to DS1 with new game + and divergent character builds. DS1 is an onion. And like an onion, it has layers.
From software ruined video games for me cuz I literally can’t get into almost any games anymore other than theirs and some of the good souls likes. Other kinds of games just don’t do it for me anymore
These are the kinds of games I wish I could forget just so I could rediscover them.
If you never played the first Darksouls and you are a fan of Soulslike, you own it to yourself to get that game, it is a masterpiece, no less
Honourable mention: I’m close to completing Lies Of P and I’ve found it to be a blast 👍🏻
Holy shit, the only game I've ever truly loved, Dark Souls 1 is siginificantly present in a Triplejump video. Truly the ULTIMATE GAME OF ALL TIME
Love this format - hope we'll see it more often :)
Oh yeah! Here we go! You DIED!
I've never died before, but I've watched players die, so I'll give this EVERYTHING I'VE GOT
These videos are great - just wish they would get more views for the amount of effort put into them!
Love this format! More please

Superb series!!
thanks for helping me understand the attraction to games like these
If anyone wants mote info on this, Keza McDonald wrote a great book called "You Died" about Dark Souls.
Ooo dark souls history time, baby!❤
Favorite game series ever!
We need a "Every Souls Boss Ranked Worst to Best" from our ol friends at TeamTripleJump!!! Of course, Barbara will be #1 regardless.
Missing characteristics: Dodge-roll combat, Corpse-run for resources, enemy-renewing checkpoints.

I enjoy that thank you

Change #3 to enemies respawn at check points and you got it 👍
Love it

DARK SOULS HELLO ❤
Nobody tell Ben that "Demonzu Souru" is pronounced almost exactly like "Demon's Soul"
Soulslikes can generally be "cheated" by farming a large amount of souls and just level up enough to be able to beat every enemy.
I want to like Elden Ring, I really do. I just can't figure out where to go.
