Great reaction. The drummer was Michael Lee who started out with the Little Angels then became part of Robert Plant's solo band. Sadly he died at the age of 39 in 2008 from an epileptic seizure.
They wrote music together, so there is no telling what they might have discussed. When Zeppelin played this live, there were no strings, just John Paul Jones on Keyboards. JPJ was unbelievably talented.
This is an old zeppelin song... Great song. Great reaction. One of the best performances of this song is the live zeppelin version from 1979 Madison Square garden concert... might be 73... anyway, Great choice.
I saw this tour after they did mtv unplugged back in 94. It was my first concert at 9 years old. Led zeppelin will always hold a special place in my heart
Yep. They reunited without Jonesy and named the reunion after his signature song. That never quite sat right with me but at least I got to see Page and Plant play in Hartford so I got over it.
This is a very interesting song, comparing love to the seasons of the year. In the first verse, Robert ding of Spring. When a couple first meet. And the seeds of love first take root. When the possibilities are endless. Next verse we have Summer. When love is in full bloom. And the world is at his most beautiful. Finally in the third verse, we come to Winter. The hard times. (And what romance doesn’t have those?) There is one word in this verse, I always misunderstood. “I felt the coldness of the Winter. I never thought, YOU would ever go.” Years later, if found out it was “IT would ever go.” This one word changed the entire meaning of the song. It went from being a song about lost love, to a song about working through the hard times. “Upon us all, a little rain must fall.” Once I got that detail straightened out, I was able to see the song in its full beauty.
Originally those strings aren’t in the songs, it’s all done by the 4 rock gods, Plant Page Jones & Bonham. There’s one song a woman does vocals with Plant, right now I can’t think of the songs name.
Desde Chihuahua, México te felicito hermano por tu poder energético en todos los sentidos. Pero en el musical eres GRANDE, Grandísimo!!! Te abrazo con Luz y amor. Pero uno de los mejores análisis musicales que he escuchado es: Little river band's: Its a long way there. Una de las mejores de la historia. Punto !!!
I have only been concerned with this Page&Plant phase for around two years. Back then I listened to Pearl Jam, Linkin Park to U2. I bought the Tokyio concert from February 13, 1996, mainly because of the brilliant bluesy Tea For One (never LZ live; a tip if you're interested) and also the popular Thank You (rarely played). Back then, both of them always had an orchestra on a few songs, sometimes great, sometimes it took getting used to, and there was also an “ethno part”/Morocco. This video comes from their first appearance together, namely MTV in 1993. I find it brave and exemplary that they tried out other interpretations in order not to be perceived as a "cheaper LZ copy".
Thank you Harri for this great reaction video! I love this song. I am learning to play this song on guitar and it's not the easiest song to learn! LOL.. it's absolutely gorgeous. Another version was part of the movie "The Song Remains the Same" and used to be on TH-cam as a video The Song Remains The Same/Rain Song, but I can't find it anymore. It was phenomenal.
This was a wonderful performance you should also check out Kashmier not only the string section but also an Egyptian orchestra also the battle for ever more which was the only Zep song to have female vocals on it inspired by lord of the rings from the same performance.
I think it's the song that was written because George Harrison said that Led Zeppelin didn't Write ballad. And if you listen closely, the first notes look like the song something.
Led Zeppelin changed up some after the fourth album in order to keep their sound fresh and on the leading edge of seventies music. The orchestration of "The Rain Song" is quite spectacular. Mellotronic, heh. The song taught me half dozen new chords back when I was learning how to play guitar as a kid in the late seventies.
Belle prestation musicale. In my Time of dying. Svp, ne pas me remercier. Ce n’est clairement pas mon but. Il faut juste partager au maximum les masterpeace
This is their most beautiful song ❤❤
As the story goes, George Harrison criticized Led Zep for "not doing any ballads." Page responded with this gem.
John Paul Jones played all the string and flute parts on the Mellotron on the album version which made it even more ethereal
One of the most beautiful songs ever written in my opinion.
You will find me in complete and total agreement.
Great reaction. The drummer was Michael Lee who started out with the Little Angels then became part of Robert Plant's solo band. Sadly he died at the age of 39 in 2008 from an epileptic seizure.
💔💔💔
My absolute favorite Zep Song!
Page, Jimmy Page.. ♠Mr.G..
Magic.
Pretty as you please. It’s a gem.Thank you, Harri.
JPJ played the Mellotron on most string parts on their LP's, this is my favorite version of my favorite LZ song. Stay safe Harri, Peace...
They wrote music together, so there is no telling what they might have discussed. When Zeppelin played this live, there were no strings, just John Paul Jones on Keyboards. JPJ was unbelievably talented.
Still is.
ZEPPELIN FOREVER!!!🥁☮☘
Such a beautiful song.
I can only say thank you and wow - 57 years of my favorite band and they still make my heart pause!
My favorite Zep song. So beautiful. ✌️💖🦋
Absolutely one of my favorite songs, just love it. ✌️❤️
So glad I got to see the Plant/Page tour twice! That was a rock show, by 2 of the biggest rock stars in all of rock land!
Has the feeling of a John Lennon song! I love Led Zeppelin. My favorite band since 1970’s.
This is an old zeppelin song... Great song. Great reaction. One of the best performances of this song is the live zeppelin version from 1979 Madison Square garden concert... might be 73... anyway, Great choice.
'73.

Gorgeous song!!
Great version, one of the greatest songs ever!
I have one guitar permanently tuned like this--so I can play this song whenever the mood strikes.
I ❤ this song SO damn beautiful
Their album from this is fantastic. It's called "No Quarter" (but also known as Unledded)
Yep. They reunited without Jonesy and named the reunion after his signature song. That never quite sat right with me but at least I got to see Page and Plant play in Hartford so I got over it.
John Bonham was a legend, and a truly huge inspiration! Rock On! ✌️❤️🥁

Please . The Song Remains The Same live version w Bonham is HANDS DOWN far far far superior. This is too neat , clean. Ugh. Nope , PASS

I was not talking versions. Just the song itself.
Which version is best is a different discussion.
This song is most beautiful and on my list of memorial songs when I pass on. Love it!!!
JPJ creating the orchestra sounds himself makes the studio version even more magical, if that's possible.
I think there were strings on their classic, “ Kashmir”. ❤
Originally those strings aren’t in the songs, it’s all done by the 4 rock gods, Plant Page Jones & Bonham. There’s one song a woman does vocals with Plant, right now I can’t think of the songs name.

Simply beautiful! Remember John Paul Jones made the string/orchestral sounds on the Mellotron in the studio and other live versions.
One of my favorite songs by them. Too bad John Paul Jones wasn't there. However this is one of my favorite versions.

It's symphonic!

You have to see the live album version...its fantastic.
Great request Harry. I’ve always loved this song but never saw this live performance. It’s fantastic. Harri loves it too! Thanks Harri and Harry. 🌺✌️
Long Live Bonzo
Yeah ✌️❤️
No I've never heard of them before!!😀😀😀

It was very hard to listen in 70th, in young years.
I think it's the song that was written because George Harrison said that Led Zeppelin didn't Write ballad. And if you listen closely, the first notes look like the song something.

❤😊
Plant is a bit off in this performance, but Page really carries it. It's a beautiful guitar composition beautifully performed.

Led Zeppelin was only four guys. John Paul Jones played the organ and keyboards. He played the bass with his feet.
Harry, have you covered the Mavericks yet? come Unto Me or Dance the Night away would be a good place to start.
Say a prayer, great tune.
Jimmy Page is the guitarist name.
I prefer the studio version from Houses of the Holy
This is one of their best songs
They probably talk about music a lot still.
This is a great live version
Its better when Bonham is slangin those drums
Watch the live version in The song remains the same
Now what?
