I'm watching the Fisher vs Spassky movie now, and wanted to see if his personality depiction is accurate. I think Spassky respected Fisher was a natural. I know little bit about Fisher's style, and it reminded me of earlier figure, and I don't like that style that much to try to use personally, though it works for his talent which is more expressive for his command of pieces...which is maybe highest level chess.... Kasparov...I respect a lot in style to try to emulate, for determination to bypass opponent and conquer grid positions. Fisher is great study in alienation, historically though.
The comment about being logical and leaving your ties on the floor is interesting. Morphy, the 19th century American world master, would apparently leave his shoes lined up in a perfect circle in the middle of his bedroom so you could quickly grab any pair he wanted.
I am a huge fan of the chess game and I do know Bobby Fischer, 😅 well not personally. But for some reason, this is the first time I've heard his voice and I gotta say it's not what I expected. Even his character is different from what I imagined. Looks can be deceiving indeed.
Pity Bobby didn't seal the point about the physicality of chess. Maybe the study wasn't done back then with the figure of around 6,000 calories a day. But he could shut the crowd up with something more , he didn't give a crap I suppose.
I don't believe chess really burns 6000 calories per day. Rather he should point to studies that show sitting for too long to be as unhealthy as smoking... and if I remember correctly one of his issues with the way chess is conducted is when people were smoking near the table.

it's hard to compare Morphy, who was brilliant and dominant, but played in the era when chess was a hobby and time control wasn't even used (chess clocks appeared later) with modern era players who competed when chess was already a professional discipline and a full time job with lots of overtime (for a world class player).

I had no idea Adriano Celentano was a chess prodigy in the 70s
I would give anything to play a game with Fischer even that i would have been destroyed 😂
you can see his games on line and see his last 10 moves in the match before he makes them & predict them right before he makes them
i always wondered if the war Room would seek his advice
Omg he is spitiing golds thanks ggod I saw that
Pity Bobby didn't seal the point about the physicality of chess.
That’s a way overblown estimate of dietary needs to play chess. Elite military units don’t eat for days and execute missions to the tee carrying 80lb rucks
He did.
@@desmondstephen9942 I don't wanna die from someone second hand smoke either.
@@desmondstephen9942 It can. The theoretical physicist, John Newman, or one of the Manhatten dudes said the same thing. They could eat anything they wanted.

He is a chess god…
Is this channel ever going to show Dick Cavett shows where he interviews Jackie Gleason and/or Art Carney? I don’t have the Decades network.
If you put him and Brady side by side. If you ever had to guess who is the Quarterback among those two. I'm sure you'll pick Bobby
Give him a computer and a year and he would be on top playing Magnus.
Best idea! OMG 💣 can you imagine....
Bobby Fischer vs. Magnus Carlsen for the World Chess Championship!! It's the equivalent to a Mike Tyson vs. Muhammad Ali in boxing and I would watch every move....
Prime Carlsen Vs Prime Fisher, Dream match for every Chess Fan ❤️
Carlsen would win. They have had 50 years to study everything Fischer would do.
@@MrShanester117Yeah, I saw Carlsen talking about Fischer random, I believe it was, and he said that they have only 15 minutes before a match to consult with a computer for lines that work for their position... My god, I'm glad they had no machines way back.
A legend
Crazy guy, but something amazing about him.
Idiots always tend to call geniuses "crazy"
@@rokanza2293 ignoring medical advise that would save your life. That is my definition.
@@SirPeter6464 he was just exercising his free "CHOICE" to refuse medical treatment. It's his right. Chances are good he could have wound up on kidney dialysis for the rest of his life........and maybe he didnt want to do that. You may not agree with his decision, but does that mean he shouldn't have made It?
@@catherinehazur7336 People have the right to commit suicide by any means of their choice.
@@peterh1353 there is a big difference between suicide, euthanasia and refusing medical treatment, (even if you know it will bring on your death) or refusing heroic measures. Not the same thing at all. Some of us are in the latter two categories, but would not stick our heads on a gas oven or put a loaded gun to our temple and pull the trigger, nor would we make that decision for another human life or groups of human beings. See what I mean?
Bobby did not commit suicide. He just refused further treatment. Unlike many, He did not like or have a high level of faith and trust in the medical profession, so he decided to opt out of further care. In full blown kidney failure, with zero kidney function, Without ongoing kidney dialysis 3x a week with no transplant it takes about a week to 10 days to pass from uremic poisoning. Bobby made his decision as he was entitled to do. Nobody did it for him. RIP.
Man. That was like pulling teeth. DC did well.
How lucky we are. There are no Capablaca or Alekhine interviews.
oh i get it. he was so ahead of his time that everyone annoyed him constantly. physical health directly links to mental health and stamina. they laugh while he is 100% correct.

I played a tournament before and I was already 9-0 and I wanted to get the perfect 10 wins then I faced this kid and lost. Playing those positions where I just don't know where to go and how to play it was very suffocating and heartbreaking
The problem is you were winning, so you had an ego to be broken.
Me myself, I was lose, so when I win, I feel like a god or something (just playing, I just feel like my opponent is trolling hehe)
Wow I feel for you
what is Bobby saying at 5:16?
"I think I'm pretty logical. I'm not the neatest guy around."

I'm curious if you're aware they did a biopic of Bobby Fischer semi-recently with Tobey Maguire. It bombed in the box office, so idk if we'll see another one any time soon, but Tobey did a surprisingly good job once I got over Bobby Fischer looking like spiderman.
I TOTALLY AGREE!
GOAT
Bobby and Paul Morphy were the greatest chess players that ever played, Bobby beat 3 of the top grandmasters in the world at that time easily, Taimanov he beat 6 - O, Bent Larsen 6- O , Tigran Petrosian 6and a half, 2 and a half. Then went on to beat Spassky in the world championship .
it's hard to compare Morphy, who was brilliant and dominant, but played in the era when chess was a hobby and time control wasn't even used (chess clocks appeared later) with modern era players who competed when chess was already a professional discipline and a full time job with lots of overtime (for a world class player).
It’s unfortunate he couldn’t connect with someone or Be in a relationship. It might have helped him. It’s tragic how he lost his mind in his end game.
