Kathie says: Your hot dog sauce and slaw looks delicious! I bet your house smells wonderful! Tammy, you look as cute as a button... so festive and patriotic! I think it is so sweet & thoughtful that you divide up what you make and season it separately for your guests’ tastes. One day you will make an awesome Grandma!!! ❤️😘 Love ya!

Using paper towels to soak up the grease is the way to go. The cast iron skillets are heavy sometimes. It all looks scrumptious. I was laughing at Chris talking about, if you kiss your family members, it does matter that you eat out of the bowl or lick the spoon. That’s right Chris 🥰

Ok. This Yankee girl was having the hardest time figuring out where to buy the diced "pickles" Tammy was using and then today I realized it is sweet "relish" which in Chicago our relish is the Vienna Neon green Chicago style that we use on our hotdogs. I love coleslaw and will try Tammy's recipe because all her dishes are the best! My mom was from the south and made a lot of these recipes and I am having so much fun getting back in the kitchen again. Thanks Tammy! Happy Memorial Day and God bless our great country!!

I always add a cup or two of water into the raw ground beef...which disperses it. Once it's done cooking I drain the water and the grease goes along with it. Because the water "breaks it up" it's the perfect consistency...no elbow grease needed.

I agree with you. Grating with a food processor gives it a clean/sharp cut, ( great if you’re in a hurry ), but hand grating “ bruises” the edges of the slaw bringing the flavor out better than betting cut with a blade.

My first slaw dawg was when I was 17 and moved to Acworth, Georgia to live with my aunt and uncle. A girl I worked with was going home for lunch to eat slaw dawgs. I said what the heck is a “slaw dawg?!” She said , I’ll bring you one back. I can still remember sitting in the break room at Ingles grocery thinking that I had died and gone to heaven. We became really good friends and her mama invited me over one day just to teach me how to make them. ❤️

Guess what I did little mama?? I just ordered me some of those gloves so I won’t tear up my fingers! I am going to start making homemade coleslaw bc it’s just the best. It’s worth any trouble it may be! So, I’m watching you! I got my eyes on your girl!! Lol I have the ingredients for hot dog chili too. I am going to use a recipe I found for “dirty water” to cook my hot dogs. Can’t wait to try it. I have two kinds of hot dogs and can’t decide which to use. I bought salhens and Nathan’s. I know Nathan’s is good so I’ll use the salhens. Spelling?

I fixed hobo meals today. Have you heard of that Tammy? Some call it foil pak meals. Your pie and potatoe salad looked yummy.

Got a short story for you about blue plate mayo. I had a mate that we worked together for about 4 years and he lived in port Gibson Mississippi just below Vicksburg Mississippi and we were coming up the river and we always got stores north bound at Vicksburg and he came flying up to the pilot house and told me that he had finished off the last jar of blue plate and to call the boat store and make sure that the yankee cook had ordered blue plate mayo. So I call and sure enough she hadn’t and he about had a melt down. So ask them to add 6 jars and miss Dorthy said she would and to tell Rufus hello. Needless to say the crisis was averted.

Love learning your cooking methods! I have a batch of sloppy joe mix on with steamed broccoli...smells heavenly. I have also made your banana bread/cake and highly recommend. Have a blessed weekend

We did this the other day at my house! I had made some sourkrout (so easy I used Mason jars and burped it daily) and needed a good excuse and not everyone in the house likes sourkrout..chilli dogs and slaw everyone wins:) your kitchen is to die for❤

You have now taught me two new uses for sweet pickle relish, sloppy joes and coleslaw! Never heard of either one before. I put finely minced onion and a little sugar in my coleslaw 💕

Tammy, I had an Aunt in Savannah, Ga. That never refrigerated her mayonnaise. She always left it out on the kitchen table. None of us ever got sick.😊

My mother did too. Now days my son makes sure i put all the condiments, i.e. ketchup, mustard, etc. in the refrigerator. Pickles too.

My mom always left our Dukes mayo out of the fridge. We never got sick either.
