- Signal integrity expert, Dr. Eric Bogatin, has a new book whose mission is to establish a solid educational foundation in the essential principles of signal interaction with transmission lines. The multimedia eBook, Bogatin’s Practical Guide to Transmission Line Design and Characterization for Signal Integrity Application, is currently available from Artech House and can also be found on Amazon.
Dr. Bogatin is Signal Integrity Evangelist at Teledyne LeCroy, a leading provider of oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers, and test and measurement solutions. He joins the OnTrack Podcast to discuss his book and give us a sneak peak of his upcoming AltiumLive panel with Istvan Novak, Heidi Barnes of Keysight, and Steve Sandler of Picotest.

Why is the audio quality from your guests always so bad? The bitrate is so low! Go buy some internet bandwidth, or better still, get them to send you the local uncompressed audio recording of their speech, and edit it into the video.
Eric is brilliant, and a fantastic teacher. He makes the most complicated physical properties understandable.
I just looked him up because I started reading his book about transmission lines. I'm an electrician and instrumentation Technologist trying to learn how to design audio analog and digital interconnect. His book is off the scale brilliant. Explained as well as is possible and he sees through the "science" that's holding everybody else back. Everybody gets fooled into believing the models are reality when in fact they are gross oversimplifications that exist so you can get an answer. Who cares if the answer is correct when compared to reality?
I went to amazon to look at the reviews and there's only one and it says "I just started this and it's good." What's wrong with the world? There are other books that are by the book incomprehensible theory and they have hundreds of rave reviews.
