    As a pro I always carry my 67 Ludwig as a spare. Hasn't let me down yet. This pedal looks like a good upgrade from my DW 5000. Thanks.

    So does the old version, just a bit more difficult to dial in. Although easier to set on a different pedal. The turn-style cam adjustment on the new version is easier at first but difficult to obtain the same setting on a new/auxiliary pedal.

    Hi Aldreen; after testing the tri pivot clamp out for a few months; I have to say....it sucks. Well......maybe not the tri pivot clamp itself, but the lack of velcro straps (of which I complained about in the video). The rubber plate does not make a difference, since we (mostly) all have carpeting under our drums. The rubber plate makes a bad job on carpeting as I have to re-adjust my pedal every 3 hours of playing. My floor is dead-level, my old 9002 never experienced this problem of "side-moving" and I do make good use of the spikes Also, the NEW VERSION comes with a soft case. Much like am 80's laptop bag. The OLD VERSION comes with a hard shell "all around throw it case" . Now, to make things clear, I will post a video of my bass drum pedal before-and-after practice time. DW F****D UP. Spread the word. Make 'em hear :) - John Good; please make the media marketing guy reply....well....unless he's scared....to go "public" :)

    what about the chain on the left pedal still jumping on both version? I like the old version !!

    • @matoolevitsch
      @matoolevitsch  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      chain jumping = bad spring tension/cam adjustment. How to overcome: play with right foot on left pedal and make adjustments as you would on main pedal. then play with left foot and fine-tune. good luck

    There's no clamp on the new slave pedal.... so you can't attach it to a second bass drum!? Fail if so

    Great video comparison but I'll take the old pedal compared to the new the new comes to 100% because of the way it hooks to the bass drum hoop and clamps it everything else in comparison the older pedal just seems to be more Bulletproof an applicable

    The new version does not have any bass clamp. so you can not attach it to anything.

      The new version's slave pedal does not have a bass clamp. But that isn't going to matter to about 85% of all people.

    Wel, I'm really sorry but to the "you can't turn it into 2 single pedals on the new one" comment, you'd have to be an idiot to buy a double pedal and take it apart to make 2. Just buy 2 singles and your problem is solved.

    • @jakubmatulewicz2891
      @jakubmatulewicz2891 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I guess you didn't listen carefully. It's just that if you break your main pedal, you can just re-attach the slave to the bass drum and insert the beater. I always keep an auxiliary pedal :)

    • @isihernandez9752
      @isihernandez9752 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      In addition to what Jakub said, some drummers use 1 or 2 bass drums depending on the situation or the convenience, and buying a double + an extra single pedal, especially an expensive model like this one, may not be in everyone's budget. So having a high quality double pedal that can be split into two singles is a very practical feature. I'm not gonna say you must be an idiot not to realize that, but.... 🙄

    the new 9002 sucks guys. dw at its worst.

    • @spreencer
      @spreencer 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why do you say that? 9002 means double right? Do you have a problem with the design of main pedal? Just wondering since I'm looking to pick up a 9000 single soon.

    • @matoolevitsch

      +Spencer York well. for starters the lack of velcro makes things twist and turn. the rubber protective (gaskets?) on the tri pivot clamp are prone to loss (lost all 3 of mine -they get stuck to the bass drum hoop and stay on it. when you have a quick tear down you might not see them on the hoop underneath and they'll simply be lying on stage after the show only to be sucked in by a vacuum cleaner or swooped by a Murphy the janitor. Additionally I have found the single screw holding the beater not to do its job like the previously used 2- it's not that of an issue but still sometimes gets my attention. the tri pivot clamp does not do a good job at keeping the pedal neither level nor securely affixed to the hoop. the old clamp was simpler and IMHO better. other than that, it's quite similar. just some gripes that dw might fix in the future.

    • @spreencer
      @spreencer 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dang, I got a 20% off on all things dw and was hoping to blow it on that. Thanks for the tip, I'll have to check it out for myself and keep those notes in mind.

    • @kirillkrugliakov1463
      @kirillkrugliakov1463 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just got the new dw 9002. It comes with 4 velcros that you can put on however you like. I've got nothing to say on tri pivot clamp, but thanks to you I'll be careful with it. I've never had to use the left pedal separately and my old 9000 also had a single screw holding that I had zero trouble with. If there are no other things that suck on the new version then it is still the best out there.
