I just moved to Seaford 5 weeks ago (after living in London for 50 years)... It's such a beautiful quiet peaceful place, I love it. Thanks for the video, very interesting indeed.
I lived in Seaford nearly 5 years, I also found that Seaford is a hidden place with so many advantages such as quiet place, 2 trains stations, easy to park , basic amenities (health centre, library, shops) and the wonderful seafront. You may not know that there is a sandy beach when there is a low tide near Newhaven. The only thing I regret is the way that the town has been abandoned by the council but it is really a nice place.
really nice video, I grew up in Denton (next to Newhaven) in the 70's my parents retired to Seaford, I was always there as a kid, a very safe and un touristy seaside town. I knew the owners of the Seaford Head Hotel mentioned, and remember The Buckle which always impressed me but only went in once. Liked the quiet Amelie theme tune in the background, suited the video.😃
I went to boarding school in Seaford in the 1970's ( pilgrims school firle road ) . My parents visited one afternoon and took me to the cinema to watch the latest James Bond Film . We then had fish and chips after from the local chippie before I waved them good bye as they returned to Chadwell Heath in Essex by train . Oh what fun we had !!
I went to boarding school in the 1980s in seaford and remember the beachcomber pub as the school staff used to take us there sometimes on the quiet lol shame it's gone now
Long ago I was told it was pronounced with the accent on ford. Does anyone still pronounce it that way? Similarly I was told Berwick near Alfriston was Ber-wick not like Berwick on Tweed. I suspect these were both normal before the war.
I loved my visit to Seaford and the views from the cliffs and the views of the seven sisters absolutely amazing!!
